Good Anime Source Material

Seeing as how most anime is based off of manga, light novels, etc., I recently wondered what would make good source material for anime, be it a video game, a book, or something else.
I myself think that "The World Ends with You" would make for a great watch if it was ever adapted into an anime. Does anyone else have a suggestion?

I want an anime version of 20th Century Boys, if they can be as faithful to the manga as Monster was, and have the high production values that Monster did.
I'd also like a redo of Zombie-Loan
and +Anima might be a fun one to see.

Wicked
Harry Potter
I second 20th Century Boys
The Mysterious Benedict Society

Ace Combat
Soulcalibur
Both of those are own by Namco Bandai and I still don't know why they have made an anime about them.
I know they made an OVA of Starship Troopers that was the closes to the novel, but it would be nice, if they did a new updated version of it.
Invasion America. a book series that then was turn into one season cartoon in the US done by Steven Spielberg.
I would put Supernatural on the list, but it's already being made into anime and will come out next year.

Chrono Trigger.

The Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McAffey
A Wrinkle in Time and sequels by Madeleine L'Engle
There are a few Scandinavian fairy tales I could think of that would be interesting as anime. East of the Sun and West of the Moon would top the list.
Robin McKinley's Damar stories - Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword, etc...
If you really want to get creative, Kipling's Just So Stories would be interesting, in the hands of the right person, too.

^ The Dragonriders of Pern series? I hadn't considered that one.... but that might be a pretty neat one to see, indeed.
One of my favorite Japanese light novel series, Kieli, would be a fantasic anime. *crosses fingers!*

They have oen! An OVA at least.
Actually, it's kind of lame.

Come to think of it, "Dune" and "Ender's Game" might make for good anime.

An anime version of Pippy Longstocking and Imogene's Antlers would be awesome. X)
I honestly can't think of a lot of animes where the protoganists/main characters are children of ages below junior high...

I mean like, a 50-episode epic series. It could be done!

my votes:
Warriors is seconded and so is the Wrinkle in Time quartet
Chrono Trigger as well (just think of the possibilities with those extra endings!)
Ender's Game series (the books are just awesome)
The Keys to the Kingdom by Garth Nix
The Seventh Tower also by Garth Nix
The Pendragon Adventure by DJ Sobol

For this, see
Stellvia of the Universe.
Chrono Trigger
has been done, but, yeah, I echo the fact that it was bad...like the majority of anime based on video-games. In fact, I'd be happy if Japan just stopped making video-game based anime. There are some good ones, but they are the exception.
I think that Waugh's
Brideshead Revisited would make an amazing anime character-focused drama
if done right (curse you Hollywood film version!).
And...anyone remember
Dino-Riders? Harness the power!

I would like to see the rest of the "Howl's Moving Castle" series animated as an anime. Why the heck Miyazaki hasn't done this yet, is WAY beyond me.
I'd also would like to see some kind of combo of Robin Mckingly's "Beauty" and "Rose Daughter" done by Miyazaki.
I second +Anima to be an anima...I mean anime lol. XD!
I would say Game Plan (Christian manga), but that on e is already being worked on right now as we speak. XDDDDD! Yay!
I'd like to see a Star Wars anime, covering the stories of Han and Lea's kids. THAT would be pretty interesting if done right. XD!

I want to see an anime based on Log.
Yes, Log.
All kids love Log!

I second Wicked and Ender's Game! Those would be awesome.
I've been listening to a lot of musical soundtracks lately, so in addition to Wicked I think a lot of musicals would make for awesome anime.

some ideas no one's brought up:
--Number the Stars (a book by Lois Lowry)
--for that matter, The Giver!
--Please Save My Earth (it was done once, but that was a bad effort from what I hear)
--Isaac Asimov's Lije Bailey and R. Daniel Olivaw novels

If there was a Star War anime, it needs to be Heir to the Empire trilogy books or The New Jedi Order books.

Y'all should know that there probably will never be a Yotsuba&! anime. Azuma thought it was a bad idea.
Also, no one has said Vamp!. And there are so many Baccano! and Durarara!! fans here too.

Well, I would fullheartedly desire a complete anime series of almost any of the Final Fantasy games. (Preferance towards the ones I know well/have played: 4, 7, 9, 10, 12... especially 4, 7, and 9)

I'd love to see someone dig up Q·Ko-chan: The Earth Invader Girl and turn it into an anime. The character designs are really memorable, the setting is quite interesting, and the giant robot fights would look really good animated, but the MAIN reason is 'cos I'd like to see someone other than Ueda Hajime doing the writing. You know, someone who actually knows how to come up with an ENDING...

Reading The Shadow Rising makes me think a Wheel of Time anime would be both awesome and longer than One Piece.

I agree with you, Quirky. And yeah, H&C, that would be right. Have you seen how big the average Wheel of Time book is? There is a lot going on in those books, but man are they long!

I'm pretty sure that Prison Break is already an anime (at least the 1st season), it just doesn't know it yet.
