The Tokyo Mew Mew anime is coming to America! 4Kids Entertainment has licensed Tokyo Mew Mew and will be airing the show during the Fox Box programming block on Fox. However, anime viewers will be introduced to the heroines under the title Hollywood Mew Mew.Regarding the process of localization, 4Kids CEO Al Kahn stated, "By the time we localize the programs kids don’t even know they’re from Japan any more." The statement was exclusively in reference to children's programming, Kahn stated that he felt that labels such as "Anime" are for adults and mean nothing to children.Complete article: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=4584Raise your voice: http://www.maehara.co.uk/tmm.html

Yeah, I don't know. At first I was kind of excited to hear that--I just hope they don't change it too much. It will be nice to watch it, but I may end up renting the uncut version later if I like it.

I still wonder how they're going to maneuver around the fact that MAJOR JAPANESE LANDMARKS like the TOKYO TOWER appear in TOKYO Mew Mew. --;;

It's too bad, really.
This will probably be edited, hacked, and altered just like all of the other 4kids anime if the name "Hollywood" Mew Mew is any clue. We will see insane attempts to "localize" it. We will see edits that don't make any sense whatsoever. The music will be far inferior to the original. Someone will probably start a Tokyo Mew Mew Uncensored website or at least put up a edit list on an existing website.
4kids really should put out uncut versions of their anime and dub it much better just like their semi-partner Funimation has done.
It would make a lot of fans happy and it wouldn't hurt their profits. It might even increase them.
I'm hoping that they don't get their hands on Naruto and One Piece.

Yeah, kids these days have enough trouble with geography as it is.

They may try to pass the Tokyo Tower off as the Eiffel Tower, too. Of course, that brings its own set of problems. Like, Who would want to watch anything about France, anyway?

And now the question arises: Is there anything WRONG with being from Japan?

Fools like them just want a new cartoon they don't have to make themselves. So they edit it to death change its name and mess it up totally. READ:CardCaptors.

...but at least Nelvana released a subtitled version of Card Captor Sakura.
That's something 4kids is not yet inclined to do despite anime fans wanting an official subbed/uncut version of Yugioh, Shaman King, or whatever(and that list is probably soon to include Tokyo Mew Mew).

Go to
www.HollywoodMewMew.com
and you'll find a "Save Tokyo Mew Mew" website.
My friend bought the domain name before 4Kids could and linked it to that site lol
You can get information about how to petition against 4Kids in an intelligent way. If you flame 4Kids, it would only hurt us more than it would do good.

*pull flamethrower out* Oh, sorry... Um... I don't even know what this show is about, but the lack of subbed material is always bad.

Let's pray they don't. <.<]And now the question arises: Is there anything WRONG with being from Japan?[/quote]Exactly. If anything it would be almost refreshing for kids these days to have a taste of a differant culture. People can be so narrow-minded these days.

Well if it's "Hollywood" Mew Mew, maybe they'll try to pass the Japanese landmarks off as movie sets or film locations. I don't know the story though so I have no clue what they'll do...
