Basically, the idea is some high school kid gets sick, and ends up in a coma for two years. So he's really eighteen, but now thinks like a sixteen year old. Through some turn of events that I can't remember he ends up in a secret marriage of convenience with his teacher, who is also a space alien. Hilarity ensues. ha ha ha. I can't say that I much cared for it.

I have also read and heard the same things as Techno. This is definitely one to stay away from, no matter how hard all the stores and anime magazines are pushing it. It's too bad that someone's sick fantasies can be made into an anime that has visual appeal (if you've seen the ads, the art looks great). While Animerica said there was no nudity in the first dvd, I've read it gets very raunchy later on in the series.

Whoa there, hey... It is not pure fanservice. I love the show. I'm going to finish my review for CAA soon. It has a decent amount of fanservice, and I will discuss that in my review, but the show is not without redeeming qualities. I realize that Tech wrote that a long time ago, but even if he has seen the show entirely back then, I still think this show has redeeming qualities to it. The sequal, however...
Though this alone isn't saying much, it CERTAINLY has more redeeming qualities than "Love Hina." Shutting down to forget, the impact of premarital sex (not in a Christian light, but not as though it were "no big deal" either), forgiveness, and a good look at the sort of issues people go through in relationships.
I am rather disturbed that Tech said something like this, in fact. If he'd seen the whole thing and it wasn't to his tastes, then he has a right to not like it, but "complete drek" is just nonsense. With the exception of the OVA at the end, and the second series which should not even be compared to this, this show has many redeeming values to it and isn't as loaded with fanservice as you may think... It's middle of the road as far as that goes, but there is no nudity in the show except for the OVA, and the show isn't just about some fantasy. It has very interesting characters and several somewhat complex subplots. I won't get into it here, I'll save that for my review, but compete drek?

Ok whoa---when did this thread come back in action? This hasn't even been touched since last August....and Bob, first off, thanks for the review. Secondly, no need to get up in arms just yet about it. And you've been around here for a while so you know we prefer you take disagreements with members (like Techno, in this case) to PM. So just cool it guys, we look forward to the review bob, and everyone else...move along. Nothin' to see here.

I agree with Bob.
I didn't think it was all fanservice. The story was good enough. And it got a little dramatic and emotional at times.
I haven't seen the sequal but heard it was pretty funny (Onegai Twins)
It's not REALLY a sequal, but similar, so I've heard.
Anyway, I enjoyed Onegai Teacher/Please Teacher/Onegai Sensei.

Sorry for getting so angry, but just so you all know, I'm about done re-watching it. I'll write up my review soon, unless I have to review the dub too... I am... Watching an old fansub tape... The only reason I have it is because it wasn't mine and I didn' t feel right throwing it away when I tossed my fansub stuff, but it did give me a chance to watch it again. I plan on buying the DVD's when my buying cycle gets around to that, but for now I had it to review.
Is it ok for me to use this as my review source, even though I can't comment on the Dub?

Nice... I'm writing up my review (minus the dub, and ignoring ep 13) right now. Should I PM it to you or to Gypsy?

I was overly critical anyways, it might get better later on in the series from where I stopped watching. Looking back on what I wrote, I'm actually surprised- I'm not at all as much of a prude as my post seems to indicate. *shrug*. Anyways, my apologies to those who do like the show.
