If you do a search for Noir in the anime section, you will find everything you need to know. As far as I know, Noir has no sexual material.

I think this should be in the Anime section.

No sexual content at all, and the lesbian rumors are not true.

I don't remember them kissing. But if they do, its in a non-sexual way. All of the Noir "lesbian" rumors come from people who read too much into the situation.

The Intoccabile gives Mireille "The Kiss of Death." It's not in a lesbian way. It is symbolic, meaning that the Intoccabile means to kill Mireille. (I think?)

You're totally right TrigunX89. It's "The Kiss of Death." The Intoccabile even says so in the english dub.

On the top navigation bar select "forums" and then scroll down... the screen you're on is divided into sections, and each section has specific forums, I believe there is even a description of the forum there as well. Scroll down till you find Anime and you're all set.

You can also make use of the "search" option at the top of the page that will take you to a search page, there you can put in (a) keyword(s) to seach for (such as "noir") and it will find either all the messages that have it in or the thread titles (depending on which option you select).

When you're looking at a forum, you'll see the name of the forum at the top of the list of threads, to post a new thread there (as you did with this one) just click on the "New Thread" message and it'll be made in the forum you're in. (so, for instance, if you wanted to talk about a game, you would goto the "Gamers Galore" forum and do a new thread there).

Hope it helps.... and welcome to CAA

Err... Now I have a question.

I have the first 2 DVD's. I've heard things get really good in the 3rd DVD. I can't wait to buy it! However, my dad always wants to see whatever I buy, and he didn't seem too happy with the massive amounts of killing. I don't know how things are going to end up. I've heard you don't know the whole story until the last episode.

Anyway, I guess what I am asking is... (Spoilers are fine with me.) Is there anything to make up for the killing? Or uhh... Anything that would make my dad happy? Thanks.

anything to make up for the killing? well, (spoiler alert) the killing doesn't stop, even at the very end. as Mireille said, they would keep doing what they have been doing. but then, like the director of noir said, he certainly was not, in any way, glorifying killing.

there IS a moral tone, of course...the entire idea of "if love can kill, then hate can save" was disproven at the very end, which was one of the points of the entire show, i would suppose.

lesbian content? personally, i found the show itself to be neutral...if there were ever signs of affection in the show, it wasn't of a romantic nature. but then it does depend on your own interpretation. a lot of fans interpret a lot of signs in the seris as shoujo-ai; i'm a bit dense - i didn't think it shoujo-ai. XD

Oh good. Thanks! I had heard about the "If love can kill, hate can save" thing, and it kind of troubled me. I feel much better now, knowing that SPOILER it was proven wrong.

My opinion on the lesbian stuff... There is NO lesbian stuff! It seems people may not understand the kiss that the Intoccabile gave Mireille. Also, there have been complaints about content in the fansubbing. Here's a word of advice - don't watch the fansubs! It's illegal anyway.

But that's just me, and like I said, I have currently only seen the first 9 episodes.

Yeah I'm wondering that myself...especially since I first saw the entire series on fansubs, then bought all the dvds....so I've seen both...

Soooo.....like Volt said...what's wrong in the fansubs? I didn't notice anything.

complaints about the fansubs? like maybe they implied something more than what should have been implied? i don't recall anything that elicited any violent reactions from me...but then i guess it depends on who fansubbed it. my fansubs were done by the Soldats group.

SPOILER

oh yeah, aside from the Intoccabile to Mireille kiss, there was that naked bathing scene between Chloe and Kirika for the purifying ritual or some other (but don't worry, it wasn't explicit), where I think Chloe also kissed Kirika (my memory is getting fuzzy). but as far as i'm concerned, that was idol worship, not love (i don't even know if Chloe was ever taught to love anyway).

END SPOILER

Hmm... Nudity, Idol worship, and purifying rituals... Now I'm getting curious and a bit worried again...

About the fansubs... What I said was mainly based on what the guy was complaining about in another thread located below.

i'm sorry, i just had to laugh after reading that thread link. XD good heavens! all that hullaballoo over the letter?! hmm...i think the real lesbians themselves would actually find it a triumph that the people here are isolating those instances and working themselves up into a heated frenzy when those scenes really weren't implying anything in the first place. oh well, different strokes for different folks.

anyway, that's beside the point already. so to allay your worries, trigun, i checked the episodes again. XD

SPOILER

there were two scenes where chloe and kirika were taking a bath (without clothes, of course): one from episode 24 and another from episode 25. regarding episode 24, like i said, nothing explicit; everything that should be covered is coincidentally covered. it's just like a scene of a hot spring bath in japan or something and it shouldn't be problematic unless you have something against two girls taking a bath together (depends on the culture you were born into, i guess). as for ep 25, you do get some contact between the two unrobed girls: holding hands, a kiss, and a hug. nothing offensive (at least for me), but it depends how you would interpret it.

the idol worship i said isn't about worshipping statues or images or anything cultic...that's just my poetic side saying that chloe was just too pre-occupied in wanting to become like kirika. it does somehow border into creepiness. but then keep in mind that chloe was a misguided girl and she wasn't supposed to be brought up to be normal person.

and the purifying ritual...hmm, maybe i made it sound too formal. XD they were just taking a bath in preparation for a ceremony and they were going to be dressed in ceremonial uniforms. XD i checked...no mention of purification. sorry, my bad. like i said, my memory's going bad.

END SPOILER

however, i would recommend that the people watching it should be a little mature, not because of specific scenes, but because of the underlying themes like sin, sacrifice, and redemption. they're rather heavy.

Heh... Ok thanks. Wow, next time I say something about taking a bath, I'm going to call it a purification ritual. No really, that's cool. I'm not making fun. Thanks for going through all that trouble for me! You're a life saver.

I may not have trouble with it, however my dad may want to watch it, and if he takes it the wrong way then... :bootout:

I finally got all 7 volumes of Noir! I even bought the first volume again, so I could get the collector's box and shirt. Now... I have a question about that bath scene in episode 25. Not so much the bath part, but why the heck did Chloe kiss Kirika? It seemed kind of... uhh... intimate. It didn't seem like a friendly or sisterly kiss. Any comments?

i thought it was a kiss of death... or something like that ^^;

That was the case with the Intocciable, or whatever her name was, but I didn't realise it was the same with Chloe and Kirika. Chloe didn't intend to kill Kirika, did she?

No, Chloe kissed Kirika because she loved her and wanted to finally express that love now that they were going to be Noir together. It made a lot of sense to me that Chloe would be in love with her, seeing as Chloe idolized Kirika all of her life and wanted to do anything to be Noir with her.

It seems another Noir fan has been born, Trigun. XD I see your dad went ahead and let you watch it. Did you all know I wrote a Noir review in the anime review section? Anyways, I hadn't read this thread before. Sman, I couldn't have said it better myself. ^__^

Thanks, true_noir_chloe. Noir is one of my favorite animes, so it's a pleasure to analyze and understand it.

Yup, Noir rox0rs!!! Er... I mean it's cool. My dad let me watch it, although I'm a bit worried about what he will think of the bath scene. He wants to see the DVD... *sigh* I doubt if he will understand that it's not fanservice.

So Chloe is in love with Kirika... Wouldn't that make her a lesbian? I'm sorry if I'm thick-headed. I'm not trying to offend anyone either. Oh btw, I read your review a while back. It was good, and it helped convince me to stick with the series.
