Matt Greenfield replies to questions

[quote="ANN"]Representative: Matt Greenfield

ADV's Sneak Peek panel was well-attended by fans, even though its existence was a bit of a surprise to Matt Greenfield, who confessed to not knowing about the panel until the previous night. He brought two episodes of Kiba to show the audience, but spent some time beforehand answering questions.

Greenfield wasn't ready to talk about ADV's current situation, but did acknowledge that the company's separation from their partnership with Sojitz left recent titles with their “fate undetermined.â€

Another update from the ADV panel that was reported on Anime on DVD.

AOD wrote:The ADV Films panel at Anime Expo was underway this evening with Matt Greenfield and John Ledford once again heading up the duties there for the audience. What was learned?

The two commented that this was a bad year to be sure because of the partnership with Sojitz that ended. They continued on that they were looking for another partner and have found one and are in active negotiations for a number of titles. They expect to have more to say at Otakon in August and that ADV Films is not going away. Sojitz pulled out of the agreement and all that was really said by the pair was that sometimes things just don't click. A fair number of questions were taken but mostly with no new titles to talk about and nothing going on they can publicly talk about, the panel was fairly straightforward before they showed an episode of Kiba.

Hm, the anime industry continues to have major problems here in the States. I'm just not sure what can be done about it... I hope ADV can stay afloat. They're one of the original anime companies and I'd hate to see them go the way of Geneom.

I guess, I kind of wish they would just drop the idea and put their money in company and not waste it.

It won't be a waste if they do it right. There are far too many Evangelion "Experts" out there not to get it right. Besides, they have the most important asset anyone could have--Hideaki Anno.
