Reported from ANN.

Southern Island LLC, the manufacturer best known for collectibles for anime and other properties, has gone into bankruptcy. Southern Island's website is offline, and BK Assets, a bankruptcy liquidator, will begin auctioning the manufacturer's remaining inventory on the Ebay online auction website on December 11.

Southern Island's licenses included Batman, Blue Gender, Case Closed (Detective Conan), Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist, The Lord of the Rings, and Warmachine. The company developed collectibles in-house as well as imported existing ones from companies such as Medicom. Southern Island was exhibiting its collectibles as recently as this summer's conventions.

BK Assets will begin auctioning about 9,740 new toys from Southern Island's inventory on December 11. The auctioned items will include Fruits Basket collectibles ("Kyo Sohma Blue and Grey, Kyo, Shigure Sohma, Tohru Honda Busts and Statues, Assorted Figures, Yuki Sohma and various bobble head, plush, and stuffed characters"), Fullmetal Alchemist collectibles ("figurines, plushes"), The Lord of the Rings ("a couple [of] Eowiyn Polyresin Statues"), Batman items, and "miscellaneous other anime characters."

Rats and I was waiting for the deluxe Roy Mustang and Lust figure.

I guess that I have to find the import models now.

The obvious question is how expensive were their products?
I never heard of them until now so I can't say that it bothers me too much.
