Sailor Moon Fans are gonna Flip when they here this. According to my Sources, the 5th and Final season of Sailor Moon Will be dubbed and will be Uncut. Now my sources tell me that Cloverway has just Lost the rights to The Sailor Moon Dub. Not only that but Toei has changed its mind and has "unlocked" the lockdown it had on Sailor Moon licenses. Now other Companies have shown some intrest in dubbing the series. And although the rights are still up for grabs, Manga Entertainment,Viz,Pioneer, and Funimation have all expressed a bit of intrest. Geneon, however, seems to be the most interested in bringing the series here dubbed and uncut. As for how the Voice Acting will be,there will either be American or West Canadian{ocean group} VA's for the series...it will no longer be dubbed in Toronto, that much I Do know.
Even though Toei has changed its mind about the Anime,it hasn't{or ever will}change it's mind about bringing It's Live Action Show{pretty guardian Sailormoon} or The Musicals{seramyuu} to America or any other part of the world. Sorry American SM fans, but those shows won't be leaving Japan.
My Sourses have Also Informed me that An American Sailor Moon Cartoon is Rumored...no other Information given. It's Also rumored that a Sailor Moon Video Game is in the works for the PC and console systems. What my sourses didn't tell me is if the game would be Japanese only,American made,or a Japanese game that would be brought over here.
On the SM Manga front,Tokyo Pop is Negotiating to Re-Translate the entire Manga series.
When a US company Does pick up the dubbing-rights and all goes well, a re-dub of the other 4 SM seasons may happen...Kepp those fingers crossed.
My Sources NEVER lie, In fact they are the ones who gave me the Scoop on Street Fighter 4 as well as 4Kids loosing the rights to the One Piece and Tokyo Mew Mew Dubs.

Interesting. The mention of Geneon makes me wary, though, since they're shutting up shop in America.
I've come across mention elsewhere of a
Sailor Moon game in development for the Wii. It looks like it will be Japan-only.
Consider
this horror. Does the world really need an American
Sailor Moon?

I didn't even need to click on that link to know what it is. Ugh, that made me shiver when I watched it.
So basically, Sailor Moon will be re-dubbed and re-released? Interesting indeed.

While ignoring the Americanized thing, I AM ECSTATIC!!!!! Although the Geneon part seems unlikely, ADV HAS contributed before... WOW just WOW!!!! FINALLY I can have the entire set! Well, except for all the TV specials and the one R episode, but who knows! AND with the manga beign redone I am SO there! I'm thinking they're going to be doing it in the NEW reformat that they did in Japan just a couple years ago, condensing the number of volumes....
Wow... This is the best news in anime I've heard in a while!!!

Well an American SM Cartoon would be great..If they did it right{with no live action crap and senshi that look like their anime counterparts}. The American Sailor Moon is Just a rumor anyway,so there's nothing to complain about.
BTW, Who are Your Ideal VA's for the Sailor Stars Dub?

I like Luci Christian and that guy who does Sasuke's voice in the Naruto dub(what's his name, Yuri something?). I don't really pay attention to voice actors, so I don't know any names.
Is there any way you can link your sources?

Geneon, however, seems to be the most interested in bringing the series here dubbed and uncut.
If these sources says that about Geneon. The sources must have been living under a rock for about a month and a half.
Genon USA has close their practical purposes and all.

If it is uncutted, does that meant Sailor Moon and Galaxia will still be naked in the final episodes?

The Quick answer is Yes, Fake Nudity at it's finest.

Fake? At it's finest? Might wanna stop and think about what you just said. Should I bring out the mental floss?
And if you ask me, there was a very good reason why the U.S. DIDN'T have this season available for grabs.

I'm gonna side with everyone else here who's skeptical. If your "source" is saying Geneon is interested, they're going off of some REALLY old info, as Geneon is closing up shop in America pretty soon.
I can't see this happening, as interest in the Sailor Moon franchise has waned significantly, and the sales of the S and SuperS DVDs were really poor, even by anime DVD standards. Simply put any company who wanted to relicense Sailor Moon would be taking an enormous risk, and really, companies don't like to take risks, especially unprofitable ones.

Yep, yep. The last dvds from Geneon come out on November 6th and after that, there will be no more Geneon USA.

That is another point to make. This is why ADV let the rights go a few years ago. They were not selling well and they just give up.
Also, this was reported on AoD on May 5th of this year at Anime Central 2007.
AnimeonDVD reported from Anime Central 2007 that "Toei currently has a lockdown on all Sailor Moon licenses, but Geneon may be interested if the situation changes.
Now that Geneon USA is gone. I would say that throws that out the window and there is no new info on ANN, ICv2 or AoD that says that Toei has changed their mind on the lockdown that they have on Sailor Moon licenses.

Ah, thanks for that, Bradley. ACen was in May of this year, and Geneon said they were closing up shop in September...so even if Geneon WAS interested, it doesn't matter a whole lot now.
By the way:
Manga Entertainment,Viz,Pioneer, and Funimation have all expressed a bit of intrest. Geneon, however, seems to be the most interested
Pioneer IS Geneon, or rather, it was. Yeah, this is some old info if Pioneer is mentioned, because Geneon hasn't been called Pioneer since uh...2003?
As far as Tokyopop goes, what I last heard is the fee Kodansha wanted for a relicensing of the manga was way too hefty for Tokyopop, and they decided the fees weren't worth it. And since no other company is interested, I don't see that going anywhere either.

You are right about the date, Nate. Dentsu bought out Pioneer in July of 2003 and Pioneer Entertainment name was change to Geneon for their anime and home entertainment production and distribution enterprise and kept the Pioneer name for their home and car electronics.

Ah, yeah with that up to date stuff probably not likely at all :/ Still, it would be totally amazing if something did happen.
I'm actually rather surprised at the 'sold poorly' comment, since I could NEVER find them in stores and well, the ADV boxsets were discontinued PRETTY quick after its release.

What? I heard ADV dropped the rights because Toei MADE them. In fact from what I remember, the uncut box sets were a must have. As soon as ADV put them on the market though, Toei decided to be big babies because nobody liked their live action version. They made everyone give up their rights for the show and stopped selling anime Sailor Moon everywhere.
Heck, I even think there's an interview or something where an ADV guy expresses annoyance at Toei taking the property away.

It's an exciting story, but because of the mention of Pioneer being interested but Geneon being most interested as well as the recent trouble with Geneon, I am also a skeptic at this point.
I hope it's true, but this just goes into the rumor bucket for me.

For the ADV box sets, actually, this is true. The sales for the ADV box sets were astronomical, but Toei yanked the rights away. The sales for the S and SuperS DVDs were the ones that were poor...I mentioned that in my post. :p
I browsed around and found the official statement that was made on ADV's website:
"ADV Films today announced that the first 86 episodes of the original Sailor Moon television series will no longer be available in the U.S. on home video after April 1, 2004. Although the response of the fans and sales of this video series in both the dubbed- and uncut-subtitled format have been tremendously successful, the creators of the program have decided against continuing the availability of the home video in the U.S. at this time. All episodes released under ADV Films will remain available for sale in retail outlets while supplies last."
From March 11, 2004. It mentions the creators decided against it, so yeah, Toei is the one who pulled the plug.

Yeah, I look that up this morning and Momo was right. I was thinking of the company that had it, before ADV got it and did the box set.
I kept forgetting about that and one of reasons, I have a little dislike for Toei.
A lot of anime fans have taken it out on ADV for stopping Sailor Moon box sets, when they should be mad with Toei and not ADV for it.

Well like I said Earlier,The Live Action Stuff Won't be coming to America. Toei has said it themselves that the have no intention on bringing Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon to the US or any other Non-Japanese speaking Country. that goes Octuple for The Musicals aka SeraMyuu.

That has been known for a few years now. As for the video games, there has been alot of Sailor Moon video games, but all of them were Japan releases. It would really be pointless to release any of the Japan video games now of it or make a new one for the US.
Sailor Moon just doesn't have the same popularity as it did years ago.

Not that anyone cares. They're kind of "B-Grade" anyway.
