'Lucky Star'?

I just saw part of this...can anyone tell me what this series is about and whether or not it has anything objectionable in it? Thanks so much?
Actually, I'd prefer anything anyone can tell me about this!

Lucky Star is about a group of high school girls. They do things, like...talk. And talk more. And more talking after that. This might be acceptable, aside from the fact that the conversations aren't terribly interesting most of the time. It's only redeeming factor is that it shows an unusual sensitivity to anime and game culture. If you like inside jokes (and are willing to put up with the absence of just about everything else) this might be for you.

*shudders* I watched the first episode and was told the whole series was like that. Wow... itblew me away, after about the 3rd minute I felt dumber (sorry to anyone who likes it o_0)

So, it's just talking?
...
I can deal with that.

Lucky Star = Anime that gets close to real life.
Personally I liked it. It had some very funny moments.

That's good to know.
In that case, I think I'll look for the rest of the first episode.

I am not obsessed...
Completely.
Sure you aren't...XD

If you liked "Azumanga Daioh", you will probably like this. And yes, most of the humor is dialog, not physical.

Lucky Star definitely starts slow. It picks up a few (four or five) episodes in after they switch directors.

^_^ Kawaii!!! I LOVE LUCKY STAR!!!
I've got the first 2 fan-subbed episodes and a 3rd one on the download. Awesomeness.
Catchiest. Opening Theme. Ever.
Like Cap'n Nick said, there's A LOT of just plain old conversation. That may be a down-side for you, but I thought it was a good change from all the action stuff out there. This series is 2nd on my favorites list only to s-CRY-ed.
Hey, did you know that the newbie in the Lucky Channel Segment at the end, Minoru Shirashi, does his own voice?
Lucky Star is a series I highly recommend.

Well, then I guess this'll work; I love Azumanga Daioh. (Actually, that was my first full series, so...yeah. This kind of anime appeals to me. I like realistic anime, even if it's really cutely drawn.)
I thought the first episode was funny. "So is the fat end or the thin end of a chocolate cornet the head?"
EDIT: Oh my gosh!! The references!! The REFERENCES!!!! I only wish they could've released this on DVD over here!!!!!

And so, another fan is born. XD
For me it's just the style of the humor. It's realistic and requires a knowledge of Japanese culture and subcultures, but if you're into that, which I am, it's really appealing.
Bizzarly I love this series yet couldn't take Azumanga Daioh. I have no idea why exactly.

I thought I was the only one! I thought Azumanga was boring and lame, but I love Lucky Star. Go figure. XD

Nah, you're not the only one. Azumanga was just boring.
Also, Konata is superior.

It's a matter of taste. I found Azumanga hilarious, although I liked the Manga version better.
Must be genetic, because my sons liked it too.

Yeah, that's the best thing about LS. The humor is wacky and I hope someone licenses it. Preferably ADV.

That'd be good...of course, though, I'd mostly be watching it in Japanese. I don't know why, but it just sounds better right now (besides the fact that it's the only language it's available in...
)

Konata is mega double sunday with whipped cream superior. (No offense to Azumanga fans)
"KONATA? Why on Earth would you ask me to copy my answers? What did you do in the five days you had to studay?
"Well, let's see..."
"Oh! I got into the secret passage".
*4 days*
"Only a few more battles before I reach lvl. 22".
*3 days*
"I've obtained the lioncloth".
Ect, ect, ect. XD

I remember that.
Oh, also have a question: I've heard that Konata likes to play "adult" games, like dating sims and such. Since they show other games like Streetfighter, do they show her actually playing these high-rated games? And if they do, do you see anything on the screen that's objectionable?
Sorry, this is just a concern of mine.
(And no offense taken at all; I see both series as similar, but with Lucky Star having more of a kawaii quirkiness added
.)

No, they rarely show any footage from an actual game that she's playing... all I can really remember is them showing the chat window from an MMORPG she plays.
So all in all, the h-games she plays are only ever really mentioned (and not in detail), never shown.

Um...actually...
*foreshadowing*
There was that one episode where Konata is shown in a flashback playing an 18 year old H game. Nothing is shown but the segment was fairly disturbing to me which I just skip over completely.
Does anyone else think Akira is going to end up hurting everyone? *shudders at the thought of marrying her*

See, that was an impression I frequently had of Genshiken, and it made me mildly uncomfortable. Though it was funny.

There's also one scene when Konata brings the twins with her to an anime...show? I'm not finding the right words and Kagami finds a yaoi magazine. All you see is a non-detailed cover that just lets you figure out it's two men, but I wouldn't be surprised if even such humor is offensive to someone.
I loved Lucky Star personally.

Etoh: Genshiken is a lot more crude than Lucky Star from what I've seen (which is all of Genshiken and most of LS)
Eaglestrike: It was a comic festival

So...other than that, nothing really then? I mean, if they don't show anything, I don't have to worry too much, right?
And Alec-kun...um, I don't think any guy is going to think about marrying her knowing that she can be that much of a...brat, maybe?

No, they won't marry her 'cause Konata is superior. >:3

XD True, true...
If only she knew there were guys in the real world that were lining up to date her XD (Please don't take this remark seriously unless you really want to)
