I've been trying to find some good (and perhaps less-expensive?) websites to buy my DVDs from as I flesh out my fledgling collection. So, I was wondering where you guys like purchase your anime from? Or do you prefer to rent? Do you think you might be able to recommend some good online stores?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey, there's already a thread like this one, where you can find some info..

Right Stuff International is a good resource for low-priced anime, manga, and related merchandise. They are almost constantly have sales on top of the already awesome prices. (^_^) Although Ebay has a lot of bootlegs, if you're careful and you know what to look for, you can get some great deals. (Perfect condition complete set of Noir with the art box for $25. XD)

Deep Discount can also have some nice prices. =)

Hope this helps,
~Punk

Seconding Deep Discount. I've used it several times and have gotten amazing deals on everything I've purchased (ex., during a manga sale, I got 4 volumes for the price of two. Later, after the sale ended, I got 3 volumes for the price of 2). It's an amazing site, and completely legitimate. Highly recommended! :D

GameStop is a pretty good source for used anime, but down here, you gotta really search for the good stuff through the bins. (and if policy changes, you may have to keep your grades up too! See my thread "Games for Grades" in the General section)

Actually, FYE is another good spot for anime--they had a great sale going on for some of their titles like "Chobits" (got my entire collection there) and "Ah! My Goddess".

Don't be afraid of used DVD's!

I usually just beat other people up and take their anime. If you have any friends who are into anime...

Well, a good lending network can be quite useful.

The Anime Fairy!

Seriously though there are several ways you can get anime at a good price without resorting to eBay,etc.:

1.online stores like Animenation,Right Stuf and Robert's Anime Corner Store will generally have what they call pre-owned or bargain where you can buy
DVDs for half price or less.As Khakibluesocks says don't overlook pre-owned(used)DVDs.Though you may not get all the bells and whistles that come extra.

2.Another idea is to check out video store bargain bins, you may never know what you may find there.

3.friends and acquaintances who are into anime.Sometimes you can get a good deal if you know someone who is giving away or selling their collection for some reason or other.

4.Coupons,coupons,coupons.Clip those coupons.

5.Some book or video stores like Barnes & Nobles and Suncoast offer
discount cards.

Suggesting people steal anime, is frowned on at CAA. Consider this a friendly warning.

I think sooner or later downloading anime or anything else is going to become like downloading music, they're going to have you pay some sort of fee if you want to do it that way that will go to the copyright owner.
