back again from the dead, Starfire1, and now a high school senior! yay! hope everyone is doing well and welcome to all the newbies.

and now a question.

this year i'm co/vice/whatever/president of the anime club at my school but i'm having some difficulty coming up with a list of animes to watch that would be appropriate for anyone 11-18 (we decided to be nice this year and open it to the middle school).

so if anyone has any ideas at all, i'll basically love you forever and stuff.

Well when the club I join started they were getting anime fansubs from down loading from the web. Ones that had not made it here for licensing as yet.
Now what we did was have a hour of one series, break, then comedy series for an hour, break and hours of others until it was time to close for the day. They started at 1 PM and ended at 6 PM.
Now would you start with old series or start with new ones that just starting unless you wait to the whole series is completed to start showing them to the club.
I remember the club started with Nadia until that finished and started on another.
Comedy we had Excel Saga, Hare and Guu and Kodocha just to name some of them.
Sometime we would watch specials or anime movies.
We had started on Naruto and Bo Bo Bobo when the club folded but we had seen different series during the time the club was going.

It sounds like you have an interesting range of age there from 11 to 18.
My Neighbor Tortoro and some of the other Ghibli films would be a good idea for such a wide range.

Azumanga Daioh is a great anime for a school club. First of all it takes place in a school. IT is a clean show that the guys will like as well as the girls. It is very funny and I think there is something for everyone in it.

Man, since my school is a private christian school an anime club is non-existent. Wouldn't that be cool to apart of a club like that, I would for sure join up if I could.

Well if they haven't try DBZ, but it is a long anime. Or you could do Naruto, Zatch Bell, Yu Yu Hakasho(Hey I watched this when I was around 11 or 12.), One Piece(You could do the subs if you are really opposed to the dubs), Yugioh(If you want), Pokemon( If you want as well, the first season is the best anyway), Case Closed is very good although there are few 14 and up episodes or you could do Spiral (Another detective type show.). Actually I was just thinking of some anime that would be exceptable for the youngsters, not necessarily that they will like it.

I'd second Azumanga Daioh.

Also show Paprika if you have the chance, although I don't think it would be good for middle schoolers to see.

You could do themes - say, the evolution of animation styles through time, as viewed through a "vertical tasting" of Gundam. (As in, different time periods. The idea is that you can give your members something of a "cultured" perspective.)

Well, it's one idea.

Shrine of the Morning Mist is pretty good.
