I was wondering if anyone knew about the 2006 remake of Kanon.
Orginally, the 2002 series of Kanon consist of 13eps while the 2006 version/remake contains 24 episodes.
AnimeNfo.com says that, "This is a remake of Kanon made in 2002."
Does anyone know what the difference between the two is besides the number of episodes?
Is the story line basically the same, just with a bit more depth?

The difference between the 2002 Toei version and the 2006 Kyoto Animation version is that the 2006 version had the following.
- Incredibly detailed and fluid animation
- A gorgeous and appropriate soundtrack
- Five storylines all connected to one another through a simple theme and plenty of character development
- Wonderful pacing and humor
The 2002 version had none of this. Uguu...

Ya, the original was kind of scary in terms of animation. The eyes! THE EYES! The style is still recognizable, but much prettier.
It seems to be working on the same subplots, too, though woven together a bit more competently. I'm sure doubling the episode count helped with this. That's the problem with shows built from dating games: building each character's ending into a coherent show lends itself to what amounts to five or six separate shows instead of one long one.
The female characters are about the same, that is, dumb as bricks. This actually comes out more strongly in this version because there's no mistaking it for bad animation or dubbing. The male protagonist, however, is infinitely more interesting - he's Kyon from Haruhi!

Typical anime for ya :/ -_-;
Wells, seems like the 2006 version is alot nicer^^ I just finished the original series a few months ago, so wanted to watch other stuff in between before I watched the remake. At least now I hear positive feedback for it^^ The original wasn't too bad, but true that they had some of the largest anime eyes I've EVER seen!

You owe me for that revelation.

Sweet, thanks for the input. I remember watching the orginal a few year ago thinking the story line as a bit untied and character development as okay but limited. It is good to hear that there is a positive difference between the orginal and remake make- so perhaps I'll give this one a watch.
