Blood + Thoughts

This is going to be similiar to the thread about Trinity Blood/Bleach where we discuss what we thought of the current episode of Blood +. So what did everyone think of the premiere yesterday?
Myself,I really enjoyed it more than I did Trinity Blood.Partly I think because there is a certain Buffyesque quality to Saya's character and partly because
Kari Wahlgren plays her in the dub.
The one part that I had problems with were the flashbacks,I think that they were a bit overly bloody than the rest of the episode.
If it keeps on going the way it has then I will certainly keep on watching.
btw:Interesting a total of one and half hours of Kari Wahlgren on Saturday nights now on AS(Blood + ,Eureka 7 & Samurai Champloo). :thumb:

Can't really say. I have to watch a few more eps to tell if I like it or not. But right now, its the only anime that I will watch on AS.

Blood + ep 1
Very violent, otherwise good, the story seems like it could develop into something interesting... At the moment it seems awfully similar to Vampire Princess Miyu. The opening theme and some other parts seemed a bit too perky for what seems to be a dark series.
Does anyone know if it was edited for TV?

Edit.
After watching it again I like it better. The blood fountains at the beginning, though interesting, were a bit over the top. Other then that I'll have to wait and see.

The animation seemed really good, the backgrounds especially.

It was alright, but I wish they just wrapped up Eureka 7.

I am interested in this series...I guess it continues another anime movie called "Blood the Last Vampire" I might have to watch this ahah..

Violence doesn't really bother me...so i think this will be okay for me.

The movie Blood the Last Vampire came out first before Blood +. The movie was set in the 1960's and the tv series is set in the present.

Blood + has more characters in the story then the movie.

Also, the movie and the TV series have no direct relation with each other.

I have to disagree with you, Roy Mustang.. According to ANN this movie is indeed related to Blood the Last Vampire.

Check it out:http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=5088

Blood the Last Vampire still has Saya in it...

BTLV Synopsis: Teropterids are evil beasts which pose as humans and live only to drink human blood. Fortunately for the human world there are groups dedicated to destroying them. A brooding and mysterious girl named Saya is the best teropterid slayer there is, and now, in 1960's Japan, she is sent to a U. S. army base which may be infested...

Blood+ synopsis: Throughout the passage of time and the shifts in backgrounds, a particular war continues to leave its mark on history, extending its influence into the modern world. There are two major groups involved in the ensuring war. The first group consists of monsters known as Chiropterans who can change their appearances into that of human beings. They are actually immortals who feed on the blood of the living. The second group is an organisation known as the "Red Shield", formed to track down these monsters and exterminate them. Otonashi Saya is a high-school girl who lives a peaceful life with her family. The only problem is, she has no recollections of her life beyond that of the past year. However, her happy life will be destroyed by an event that will lead her to her destined fate.

i don't know the connectiong but there is one...

Interview with Blood+ director Junichi Fujisaku

Read that interview. Its very good and it will tell you story between the movie and the tv series.

[quote="from animeonline"]For U.S. fans of Blood: The Last Vampire, how is Blood+ connected to the original movie?

FUJISAKU: Actually, there is no direct relation. It’s the same set-up - a girl called Saya hunts “Chiropterans,â€

I thought Blood + was interesting, but I didn't see it from the begining. I will most likely watch it though.

I wonder if they were watching Buffy,The Vampire Slayer when they got the idea for doing this as the main concept is similiar.

They are vaguely similar at first. However, unlike Buffy, Blood+ has a single overarching storyline. Buffy was much more about the characters and is much more episodic. (Neither is better than the other, they are just very different in overall concept)

To address the issue of weather or not they are related: I have seen the series in it's entirety, and I can say with much certainty that they are very much related. However, it is not so much so that watching either is necessary to enjoy the other.

I think I read at Wikiepedia that Saya's amnesia in the series is a result of what she went through in Vietnam in the '60s.It was her way of blocking out the bad memories.

I enjoyed the first two episodes....I'll definitely like to see more of it!
I--err...just hope it'll be better than Trinity Blood. >.>;; *hides*

My only complaint so far would have to be the dub... Freeman and Wahlgren sound fine as usual, but everyone else......o_o Not so sure. But, at least having a bad dub doesn't make the show itself bad. --and it definitely has time to improve, so we'll see.

I viewed the first episode because I intend to see the second tonight (my schedule hasn't yet grown to fill the gap left by Trinity Blood, so I figure I should give the series a try). To be honest, I didn't like the first episode. Not due to the premise, just various things about the execution. In my opinion the first "incident" should be contained in the first episode unless there is a very good reason. Blood + didn't have that; the first episode covers relatively little and in my opinion isn't a good way to open a series. However, I'll watch the second and if it is resolved well I may be willing to put this aside.

Actually, I've read some of the manga and I prefer the anime over it so far (partially because I dislike the manga's art). We'll see if the anime diverges; the plot of the first volume seemed fairly run of the mill to me.

I don't have a problem with the dub. One good thing about is, there is a alot of fresh people doing voices.

Alot of people don't like the voice of Vin Argiano. Sadly, most don't know that Crispin Freeman is doing that part and I think the voice for it is fine.

So I discovered. Somehow I've gotten further off than I thought. I'll assume the content of episode two was essentially the same as the manga.

Anyway, having seen episode three instead of two, I again wasn't impressed. I didn't remember these scenes being quite as cliche as they felt this time. However, the series feels as though it's just beginning as far as overall plot arc goes, so it deserves more time before I decide if I should continue watching.

Hmm...then why was George lying in a pool of blood at the end?
