Question about Air TV: Warning - Spoilerific

Postby KBMaster » Tue Feb 13, 2007 8:05 pm

So that no one reads the spoiler whilst hovering over
the title of the thread
I will make this part long
so that nothing can be spoiled
for the unsuspecting viewer.

That should do it.
Now, as for my question....
WHY?! Why did Yukito die? Because he got to close to Misuzu? Did Misuzu die because she got too close to HIM? I thought HE died so that she WOULDN'T!!!! Did they even FREE Kanna or is she still being tormented in the sky?! If their dying was all for vain, what the heck was the point of the stupid anime?!?! GRAH! I thought it was going to have a HAPPY ending! That was more bitter than sweet! It was too sad! Too unexplained!

ANDWHYDIDYUKITOTURNINTOABIRD?!!? THAT WAS JUST WEIRD!
Someone please explain it to me! Please be sure to use spoiler tags.
For those who don't know how to, like so:
[*SPOILER]Lalalalalalala I'm writing a spoiler![*/SPOILER]
Just type that except without the *.
From what I see, the series is like...one episode of a looong line of people who have dealt with this curse and have met the same fate. The two kids at the end of the series (also, the girl in the title art) are the next two who will have to deal with the curse. I think that the point of the series was not to have a happy ending, but to focus on developing the characters and showing what they were dealing with in the midst of this problem. I've always thought that Haruko had some very good character development, along with Misuzu and Yukito.

Now, I haven't watched the series in a while, so I can't really remember my reasoning for why Yukito died (I seriously need to watch it again, because I loved this series in spite of the melancholy ending). XD I do remember him turning into a crow...maybe it was something about flying up to see Kanna? I don't remember. XD Anyways, Misuzu died because...well, remember that scene where Ryuuya (I think) was explaining how Kanna couldn't be reincarnated to just one person, because it would be like pouring a large bowl of water into a tiny cup? Well, the way I see it, when that "cup" overflows, the person dies, and Kanna is reincarnated into another person. I do think the series leaves you with some hope, though, since the pair of children might make it and free Kanna.

Anyways, for a more light-hearted experience, I suggest finding the Air Summer Special, which is a two-episode feature focused on Ryuuya, Kanna, and Uraha. It's very cute, and quite funny in some places. n_n
*waits for Osaka to come explain it better* XD
Due to the serious nature of the series, it would make sense for it to be have an "avant-garde" feel and be seriously depressing at times. And many times it was depressing! (With the help if it's amazingly slow pacing) XD I actually can't believe I've seen all of Air. Anyway I think Radical Dreamer said it best. I think Mangafanatic can also explain it too.

WHAT TWO KIDS?! I just finished it yesterday! I don't remember any two kids at the end! I might have seen them and then forgotten because I was so distraught at the end.

I tried looking for the other episodes in Youtube, but I couldn't find them. I will look them up under Summer Special, though.

But what if those two children that I don't know of DON'T free Kanna?! What then?! *cries* How can you be left with hope if the MAIN characters don't make it?
Thank you for the help, RD. I understand the HOW better, just not the WHY.
At the verrry very end, when Haruko and that one guy--I think it was Misuzu's father--are talking on the beach, you see a couple of kids on the beach, too (one girl and one boy), and they exchange a few words before the end credits. After that, though, it's kind of just left up to the imagination. XD The way I see it, though, Kanna's reincarnation had already gone through a large number of generations (I mean, the flashback scenes all take place in a very old-looking time period), so I figure Kanna's freedom can't be that far off. XD Glad I helped with the "how", though! XD
Eh?

EHHH?

EHHHHHHHHHH???
But didn't it end with Haruko screaming Misuzu's name right after she died? There was a scene AFTER that? Maybe Youtube cut it off? I'll go back to check.
Oh, thanks for telling me about the Summer Special! The Fuedal Era Arc was my favorite. ^_^

I think it's just after the credits, from what I remember myself.
Those same kids actually show up in the background earlier in the series. It was I think the first time Haruko and Misuzu went to the beach, and there were some kids playing in the ocean (a boy and a girl but you never see their features really well). I think Misuzu says something about playing at the beach just like the kids when she was little. The boy is wearing a T-shirt with some sort of kaki shorts and the girs is wearing a sundress (I think it was white).
