DVDs and tv rights are sure to follow.Though don't waste your breath on AS,when they start the bidding for airing TMOHS they are certain to pass on it.

Since it being distributed by Bandai, CN will get it. Bandai loves giving CN stuff, even if they put in a bad time slot.
Bandai will want it to go a place that can be seen by most people, since Bandai is not doing well right now.

Agreed. They rarely show something that experimental.

Its a Comedy and Supernatural anime.
Info from ANN
On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon a boy who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. Commenting on Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting Kyon unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves literally dragged into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

I thought it was licensed a while ago? I think it was one of those unofficial announcements though, where it got licensed, but not even sites like Animesuki noticed nor recognized it (I mean, apparently Death Note has been licensed for a couple months but hasn't been made public yet for whatever reason that doesn't make sense, since that would help the company out by getting subbers to take off their links :/)

That's because the first report of it was somewhat not true. It was never reported on ANN, but the report came from ANS and they are known for not very good news as it may not be true.
Heh, I heard just how that Death Note is already over here.

Oh... because it was ANS where apparently the thing about Death Note was from and haven't heard anything since :/ And that's why I stopped watching at like ep 4ish, cause I was like "it's licensed already?!" I remember the article saying something about how they would "announce it in their own way/time" which is werid cause that was a long time ago and still no word and still subs beign distributed.

ANS was the only that I know that did have a report that Death Note was licensed. As what I thought was licensed was the manga and not the anime, which is out here in the US.

ANS was apparently just ahead of everyone else when they reported the licensing.
Actually if you had read what ANS actually reported at their site what they said was that TALKS were underway to license TMOHS and nothing more as that was all they found at the time. They didn't know who was involved or anything else of that nature because the source that they got the information from apparently didn't know much else except that there were talks underway to license it.

I really feel that ANS is not a trusted place for news. People from ANN, Toonzone and AOD had said to trust what ANS reports with a gain of salt.
Believe me, ANN and AOD check the report and they found nothing for them to post about report of the licensing for TMOHS.
AOD even has reps from anime companines at the board and there was no word on it from any of them or that anyone said that looking to buy right to that anime.
ANS says that Death Note is licensed, yet there is nothing on AOD or ANN that says anything.
This is why I never report anything that ANS has, because I take their news as gain of salt.

Haven't heard anything about that. Not sure if it is or will be coming to toonami.

I'd like to say this surprises me, but it doesn't. The only thing that I find even slightly surprising is the fact that it didn't happen sooner.
The lite novels will be licensed within a year. Mark my words. *leaves thread to record her clairvoyant thoughts in the anime predictions thread.*

Good news. I've been watching for this one. I rarely see a show before it is officially released here in the states, but I've been hearing a lot of good buzz on this one.
And this Gundam version of the opening theme is priceless:

Bandai is supposed to have said that they were thrilled that people were watching the series on both Youtube and Bittorent, but were also encouraging them to get the
official DVD.
So looks like they realize the importance that the fansub has played in getting
all of this going. Can't wait to get my hands on the first DVD.
