Looking 4 GOOD anime

PostPosted: Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:57 pm

All I ask is for an anime that I don't have to worry about the next scene every time mom or dad walks by the tv:bang:.
And anyway I'm a generaly 'good' kid , I myself don't want to see the random ***** **** that floats around in most anime.
So, is there an anime that is good all the way around? ? ? ?
MUCH thanks to those of you that respond. :thumb:

First off, welcome to the boards, as it seems you're new around here. :)

Secondly, this thread should probably be in the Anime forum. Be sure to pay attention to the threads you post in; you'll get the hang of it. :)

Anyways, I'd reccommend some clean anime, but I'm not really sure about what you're looking for or what your parents might be offended by. For instance, the anime Rurouni Kenshin is very clean, but it has mild language and lots of blood. Most of Hayao Miyazaki's movies are also very clean (movies like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky, etc.), but I'm not sure if you or your parents are uncomfortable with fantasy magic and the like. Could you please give some guidelines as to what you're looking for in an anime? I'm sure that would help everyone to know what to reccommend to you.

In the meantime, check out the anime and manga review sections:

Manga Reviews

Hope that helps a bit. :)

Sorry

Sorry about where I put it. :hits_self
Is there a way to take it off? I have no idea about that.
Thanks

I recommend Eureka Seven and Giant Robo. Pretty clean and of course, good stuff

You could try Big O. I've been watching it recently and it's pretty clean, not to mention it's a really good show.

hey and welcome to CAA. anyways, for a good, clean anime, you could try samurai 7. it's generally a clean anime but has some sword fighting (though they mainly fight robots or "robo-humans"). you could also try trigun even though i haven't seen the entire series, it's pretty clean. a bit of swearing however for both animes. though not to extreme.

Welcome to the site.

I would first ask what it is you like about anime. Recommending titles that are clean is easy. Recommending titles that are both clean and enjoyable for you is a little more challenging. Being a 15 year old male, I will make a few guesses and recommend some anime that will not get you into any trouble with your parents.

Squeaky clean - no innuendo, nudity, adult content:
Crest of the Stars – Sci-fi space epic that most who like that sort of thing consider one of the best ever made.

Banner of the Stars – starts off where Crest of the Stars ends

Robotech/Macross – another fine example of a sci-fi space-epic. Important: Robotech is the American release of Macross and is squeaky clean. Macross, however, has one scene in the second (third?) episode with nudity in it. Get past that scene, though, and it is as clean as a whistle. So know which one you’ve got.

Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl – it is what it sounds like. It’s also pretty darn funny.

Mostly clean - no nudity, some adult content as noted:
Trigun – a fan favorite. It does, however, contain bloody violence, alcohol use, and the main character’s a bit of a womanizer (although he’s not very good at it).

Tsukikage Ran – a favorite of mine. Very funny and excellent martial arts action sequences. The animators spent a lot of time making this show’s fight scenes look great. The main character, however, loves her her sake and imbibes it near constantly.

Welcome to the forums my new friend! If you need anything, just give me a holler!

Anyway, on the subject of good anime...

I would recommend Fruits Basket if you're looking for something light and funny...

The "Tenchi Muyo!" series for something sultury and funny, yet adventerous at times...

"Outlaw Star" if you like light space adventures...

"Cowboy Bebop" if you're looking for space drama with a dash of humor at times...

"DNAngel" if you just want to be confused...

"Blue Gender" if you want the everlovin' crap scared outta ya, but you like a bit of romance...

Hope that helps!

Haruka Naru Toki no Naka de (if you watch fansubs).
This one's real nice and I'm up to ep 16 on it and so far, hardly ANYTHING bad (the most suttle of things, but really nothing). The only thign I can think of is that bad religion/spirital stuff offends you, might wanna stay away because it's got lots of Buddhism/Shintoism/magic etc in it. Although at first it seems familiar to Fushigi Yuugi (which is also good but has some bad stuff in it), it holds its own and has a very nice story and characters^^

I hate to bring this up, but Crest of the Stars does have nudity... Butt crack and barbiedollism (meaning no "body parts" just body shapes) It's all very prominent in one episode, but that's about it for the series... I mean, they showed it on TechTV, so it's not like it was censored out on TV... I'm a bit surprised you missed this, but maybe it was because it was barbie doll...

And that would be a big old fat no to like all the anime on KBS's list, too... None of them are clean... Well, actually, I haven't watched DNangel or Fruits Basket, but Blue Gender is like... pretty dang far from clean, and Cowboy Bebop takes cues from Alien and has random naked pin up girls on walls scattered throughout episodes...

Tenchi and Outlaw Star both have plenty of Nudity in them...

A good anime with No nudity and only one vaguely sexual reference is Princess Mononoke. Another good movie was Metropolis. A good show based on the first probably 6 or 7 eps I watched so far was Rumiko Takahashi Anthology, and if you're into fansubs, I haven't seen any nudity in monster yet, though it is rather mature in its subject matter. Um... Grave of the Fireflies doesn't have any nudity (unless you count Setsuko in the bath, but... You'd be pretty darned sensative to be bothered by that...) but it's very depressing... Piano is about the cleanest anime show I've ever seen... They talk about dating, but never about sex, there's no violence, no supernatural things in it... It's slice of life, which probably takes the fun out of anime for a lot of anime fans... Not me, though... I appreciate animation as a storytelling medium and like it when stories are told that people don't expect to see in animation...

"Blue Gender" if you want the everlovin' crap scared outta ya, but you like a bit of romance...

Uh, you know there are some parts in it will not be something that he like for his mom or dad to see.

The romance was there, but it was in your face romance.

The nudity is mainly in Lafiel's bath scene, also the maids that work for Baron Febdash all wear rather skimpy uniforms, but not as bad in the anime as in the
manga.
I was surprised that no-one has mentioned a couple of obvious ones:
Azumanga Daioh and Hamtaro!

Hamtaro, sure. Azumanga has some gayness in it, along with that creepy teacher. It's more clean than not, but I'm not sure how a parent would react to Kaorin or the teacher (whose name escapes me..XD; ).

"The creep" :/

Yeah there are some issues in there... also the fact, how the girls compare themselves... physically :/ It's done several time in the anime and a few times more in the manga.

Kimura is the name of the teacher.

Naruto isn't that bad. There are some episodes with some suggestive dialouge, but this is only a few. Not too violent either.

InuYasha isn't that bad either. Some other shows I'd suggest would be Trigun, Bleach, Last Exile, maybe FMA, and Big O.

if you're fifteen, then you could try yu yu hakusho (dbz type fighting. some minor swearing if you're watching the uncut version) or bleach (some minor swearing and innuendo. lots of sword fights too). you could also try getbackers and maybe cowboy bebop.

I'm going through Cowboy Bebop now, some parts are kinda edgy, but hey, its cool.
Is there a Bleach english dub out? All I've seen sold is the sub, but I didn't search very far.

Yes, there is a dub cast for Bleach. The anime airs on Cartoon Network Adult Swim and the first vol dvd will come out on 11/29/2006.
