i am having a hard time finding some good titles, that are affordable, can be found at suncoast/ best buy most of the time and do not have a whole lot of profanity, sex/nudity, or violence in them. the shows that i like are inuyasha, rurouni kenshin, fma and last exile. anyone have some suggestions of shows with lots of action and a touch of romance that are ok for ages 13 and up? thanks.

Have you tried Scryed or Trigun? Both have fighting but nothing graphic. There may be some swearing (I saw the edited version on TV so I don't know about the dvds' level of profanity). There's also Samurai Deeper Kyo which has a lot of action scenes and no sex though there is a bit of fanservice cleavage with one of the characters.

I also second Trigun and s-CRY-ed. They are both very good (IMO Because many people don't like s-CRY-ed) Both are clean. Scryed has profanity but nothing worse than a few S*** (Yes i censored it on my own). Trigun is also very clean Language through the first few eps was worse than that of scryed but still not bad and the nudity is one very minor scene were
Vash iis stripped and has to act like a dog. Just minor rear nudity and I mean very minor. He agrees to strip to save some people Btw
I suggest the following
- Blue Seed
- Trigun
- Martian Successor Nadesico
- Vandread
- R.O.D. The TV
- Chrono Crusade

I would sugest
-Peace Maker- a good show with good characters and good story
--full metal panic - has a good mix of action/ teen romance
start with them there good, try finding an anime rental place theres usualy one in most cities, even blockbusters has some anime.. And look into anime befor you rent/ or buy theres awsome sites like this but theres also sites like Wikipedia.org where you can search and find almost every anime. dont be afraid to try some new types of anime too

Peacemaker is good but rather bloody. Galaxy Angel is pretty fun and I really like Figure 17, but I'm not sure you'll find it in stores. I'm also enjoying My (Mai) Hime, There's kind of a lot of underwear shots but nothing graphic.

Peacemaker is highly compelling but also fairly extremely violent with all the katana-slashin' action goin' down, and the ending may infuriate you. R.O.D. the TV is awesome, but see the OVA first. Nadesico is also incredible, but I wouldn't recommened it to an inexperienced anime fan because it has a lot of genre-referential and parodic elements.

by Hitokiri
- RahXephon
- Trigun
- Wolf's Rain
- Outlaw Star (just skip the hot springs episode)

Big O is great for those who are action lovers. Also, if you like a touch of romance, I strongly suggest Crest of the Stars and its sequel Banner of the Stars. If you think story trumps action, you MUST see Last Exile.

Yes big O is indeed good Rock. Its clean too just a little bit of language her and there but nothing to be really worried about

Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Chronicles.
Both by CLAMP.
Both having no nudity or swear words (at least, I didn't see any swear words).
Also, Cardcaptors is more shoujo (girl) anime whereas Chronicles is more shonen (boy) anime. However, Cardcaptors should be watched first before understanding all of whats going on in Chronicles.

If you can handle Inuyasha, you can definitely handle Princess Mononoke.

13 is a tough age to recomend for. Personally I would have recomended against Inuyasha but I guess its up to you and your folks.
A lot of the more 'sensible' anime tends to be in the sports genre (though not always). Hikaru no GO, Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21, and Major are all titles that come to mind (with little to no objectionalbe content). However you probably will not be able to find most of these in Suncoast yet.
So we turn to plan B.
While Trigun has some great messages in it, the process to get there can be a little rough around the edges. Out Law Star sort-of falls into this catagory, but with slightly less meaning to the messages and more bang to the action. But still bears some rough areas that make it hard to completely recomend without careful consideration by you and your folks. (Samurai 7 is another one I would put into this catagory).
I greatly enjoyed Martian Sucessor Nadesico, but it has the ocasional jokes/referances to characters anatomy.
Hmmmmm, whats left? Narutos not bad, but has the same problem as Martian Sucessor... The Same with InitialD....
Its actually kind of hard to find a show that is completely clean of perverse jokes or violence these days. You can go to the review section and search by an age criteria then read through the ones that apeal to you. I usually start by seeing whats out there and then narrowing it down to what I might watch or am interested in. Then look up some reviews on those ones or ask around about peoples experiances with them.
Im sure you will find the right show, just dont give in to the popular. Find what is both apealing to you but does not compromise your morals.
Good Luck! ^_^

trigun is awesome. there is some mild lng. no sexual stuff thu some antics earning the main chara a slap across the face. hehee. I found if you look close the main chara Vash shows some strong Christian morals. they plot rocks, theres lot of action but it's never pointless, and it's hilarious too!! plus it has an awesome ending major points on this one!
Howl's moving castle is a compleatly clean anime movie. probably the best ever made! it's plot rocks, there is plenty of fantasy and decent amount of action, warning it is leaning heavily on romantic...but it is clean!!!
I'll write again if I can think of more, my brain is on melt down.
you can PM me if you want more info on these anime

I recommend Scrapped Princess. The action sequences are exciting and there is a touch of romance. A few scenes do have some blood, but nothing that surpasses Inuyasha. I also liked the fact that it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that approximates the middle ages. (I'm sort of a medievalist.)

Kudos on "Scrapped Princess" it is a great series. I'd also like to add DNAngel to my recommends.

Yes Dnangel should go on that it is one of the cleanest series I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Magic Knight Rayearth I add. A very clean series as long as you don't mind a wee bit of fanservice (only one episode for like maybe 3 or 4 frames) and a single Transformation sequence. Oh yea and a little bit of blood.

You can check our review section at the top of the page. There's a search feature at the top that you can use to find anime suitable for ages 13 and under.
Or, you can browse through the titles to see which one interests you, and look at the age suggestion in each review. Good luck.

you should try watching Myazaki films. not only are his stories wonderful but there is barely any cussing in it at all. come to think of it i dont remember any cussing. course i havent taken the time to sit down and watch them again. i did watch howls moving castle tho yesterday and can tell you it doesnt have any cussing in it. im almost positive that most of the others dont either tho. anyways the storylines are great as well as the animation and the songs. i would recommend Myazaki films to anyone who hasnt yet seen one. some of his movies are
Spirited away,Howls moving castle (actually i think that one wasnt done by him but by his relative or somethign.) Laputa castle in the sky,My neighbor totoro, Porco rosso, Pom Pocco (this is one of the few that may have some cuss words in it and they are really discriptive on the male racoons) only yesterday, wisper of the heart,Nausicaa valley of the wind, and kiki's delivery service are most of them

Pom Poko is rubbish, the others are all (varying levels of) great!
There are small amounts of mild language in some of his movies and Princess Mononoke is fairly bloody, but the rest are fairly clean (especially as far as quality anime goes).
