The Christian Approved List

Postby Netbug009 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 3:50 am

Hello! I'm new here and I thought It would be cool to make a list of Christian Approved anime that people can refer too when looking for safe options.

Basically, post any anime you can think of that's ok for christians. It doesn't have to be a christian anime, but don't put it up if it has extremely aithiest/satanic/suggestive views/stuff.

This is not the same as favorite anime list. This is for anime you really think are christian happy. This is not just all the shows you watch.

My List

Digimon

Megaman: NT Warrior

Oban: Star Racers

I think that the reviews section can be used for that purpose. It gives G-rated reviews for even the NC17 rated Animes

The reason I don't think a thread like this really works is because some people get offended by nearly anything. My mother is rather hyper-sensitive, and would find FMwS and Pretear to be 'satanic', and .hack would be inapprorpriate because it glorifies gaming. *sigh*

I don't discuss anime around my mother. It's a futile exercise. Still,
:thumb: , great recommendations.
Embraced by a gentle breeze, my heart breaks as I think of you.

I'm with you on this one. I can't really make a Christian approved list, because I know one Christian family who wouldn't approve of most anything which I, personally, find completely acceptable. I know families who believe that "Cinderella" is a foot hold for the devil because it presents magic in a positive life. That's just goes to show, there is really no way to present a list which wouldn't offend someone somewhere.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

And, please, don't think this was in ANY WAY a condemnation of you. I was simply pointing out that I thought the idea would be difficult to execute. It was a great idea, even if it might not work out as well as so many of us would like.

Please, don't feel bad at all, okay? :P

I usually recommend Trigun and Rurouni Kenshin. I also recommend Now and Then, Here and There to those who think they can handle it (check the review for details).

The Prince of Tennis is a good sports anime, and Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok is a very cute anime to watch as long as you don't have problems with some magic and mythology. :thumb: Good luck!

Yotsuba&!. Anyone who finds anything wrong with that manga is either super-hyper-sensitive, or they think that cute 5-year olds who let cicadas loose in the house are evil.

Oh yeah, but also...RuroKen, FMWS, Haibane Renmei, Whisper of the Heart, and Castle in the Sky. :thumb: I'm certain there're more that I'm forgetting, but they'll come to me soon enough. XD

耳をすませば is indead a great one. I'm not sure about many of the others. Have you looked at the "reviews" section listed in the nav bar? There's a great deal of information there for people to see.

Ragnarok is pretty clean, and has some outlooks at Christianity, but not much.

This is tough when you think that different Christians do have different theological views and some, like me,may be a bit more liberal than others in their tastes and
outlooks and so would end up recommending shows that the more fundementalists
members would probably have kittens over.
That said some that I would recommend would be:
*Inuyasha
*Tenchi Moyu
*Ranma 1/2
*Azumanga Daioh
*Trigun
*Rurouni Kenshin
*Melty Lancer(OVA)
*Gundam Wing
*Dual!Parallel Trouble Adventure
*Pilot Candidate
*Stellvia

I THINK...that that's Whisper of the Heart...Just because the DVD version shows the Japanese name in the subbed version. Don't quote me on that though, I just recognized the first character. XD

"If You Listen Closely", from what I understand, is one of the other English titles for "Whispers of the Heart." The title was used more before Disney bought the right to the movie and began releasing it domestically under the name "Whispers of the Heart."

Superbook would fly. Wait now that would be The Flying House.

DOH!

Seriously, I don't think any animes I watch are Christ-Centered nor would win any approval.

That is indeed one of the names, Osaka. I should know since I reviewed it:thumb:. Anyway, I may also add the following:
Big O (not only does it mention God, but it also reminds us why we celebrate Christmas in ep 12)
Pokemon series and movies
Metropolis (mentions the Tower of Babel)
Steamboy
Speed Racer
Zatch Bell (although this is iffy with all the magic in it.)
Kiki's Delivery Service (a Christian review site I frequent recommends this one. In fact, it's the only Miyazaki movie it recommends! :shake: )
Millennium Actress (it advocates being happy for a long-lived life. Chihiro doesn't appear to regret her life at all)
Only Yesterday

I like FullMetal Alchemist, from what I can tell it's pretty clean(though i haven't seen all of it.) only problem is the evident spiritual conflicts of magic (referred to as alchemy).

Kiki's Delivery Service is about a witch, and her flying around on her broom to make deliveries. Unless you're going for the spirit of the movie over actually content, that may be troublesome.

I agree with Ash. If your objections to magic are across the board and without exceptions, Kiki's probably not the movie for you. I think you'd be better off with "Whispers of the Heart," given your criteria.
