I know that there has been threads about best ending for animes. it usually focuses on 1 single episode. Well this is focusing on all the episodes building up to the always epic climax. So what you guys favirotes?
Dnangel (5 eps brought it from a "alright show" to what is one of my favs)
Rahxephon (sure its confusing but hey it sure was epic)
Magic Knight rayearth (One of the best endings period)
Cowboy bebop (last two eps were two of the best in anime history IMO)

*thinks*
Yes RahXephon WAS really good (a happy ending to to Eva-alternative^^)
Chobits I thought had a better ending than in the manga although it been a while since I've seen either really^^
I still say that Haibane has THE BEST ENDING EVER... I mean I don't know whether to smile, cry or both it's just AMAZING (but one of those shows that you have to watch the WHOLE thing and get everythign out of it to be THAT good^^)
And yes, the first season of MKR too was like a "....NO WAY!!" sort of ending... glad there was a second season to it and stuff too^^ Although I feel like I'm the ONLY one that actually enjoyed the second season/manga series of it :/

Waiting for Inuyasha, that ought to be a good one.
As far as the ones I have seen,I agree with RahXephon,a bit confusing at times but remember that they were showing what Ayato and Haruka's life would have been like if the Mu had never invaded.
Neon Genesis Evangelion,an other one that was a bit confusing but fun to watch.
Cowboy Bebop, left enough questions unanswered but the end duel between Vicious and Spike is classic.
Silent Mobius, good but certainly indicated that perhaps the creator may have had a
sequel in mind.I can't imagine it simply ending with the AMP rushing out to do one last battle without there being some sort of denoument in the end.
Gatekeepers 21,nice and it also showed how Miu and Ayane's relationship had finally grown to the part where they actually became friends.
Lain, good and a bit bittersweet.Lain's meeting with Alice on the side walk was kind of melancholic when you remember that in the beginning they were the same age and close friends.
Dual,fun.

In regards to your comment on Inuyasha mitsukilover, don't hold your breath -_-;;...... I have a friend who saw the entire series and told me the ending... u_u ... Not pretty. I'm not going any father than that, but if you are curious mitsuki-san, you can PM me.
Onto the post question: My favorite ending would be..Pretear. o_O; Honestly it's the best one on my shelf. All my others are unfinished or sucky XD LMAO.

.hack SIGN
.hack Legend of the Twilight
RahXephon fo sho!
Gunslinger Girl (vs the manga that didn't really have an ending O.o; I'm like "hey! so is there a volume 4?! apparently not.....")
Kiddy Grade (full of psycho plot twist right up to the end keeping you the edge of your seat!)
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex
R.O.D. the TV
Haibane Renmei (though somehwat abstract and confusing, I liked the point that was conveyed by the end)
Last Exile (though it felt a smidge rushed/forced, not very gradual)

My favorite ending episode ever would be the final episode of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien / Rumbling Hearts.
Akane reading the picture book aloud, followed by Haruka and Takayuki's separation. It was an absolutely beautiful scene, even if it's horrifyingly depressing in it's own way. It took me a while to 'accept' this part of the story, since I really didn't want it to end this way, but after looking back on it for a while, I think it was the best direction to take the story, and also the most realistic choice.
Next would be the final episode of Banner of the Stars II.
With Jinto, realizing that he is dying, contemplating a lot of things regarding his home and Lafiel. I also find the title of the episode, An Abriel's Tears, to be an incredibly awesome title.
Third on the list would be AIR's finale.
The last few episodes were absolutely heartbreaking, causing me to cry at multiple parts, including the beach scene, and the very last scene.
Fourth is Strawberry Eggs.
Hibiki Amawa leaves the school, with the declaration that he will return someday, once he has earned the right to be a teacher again.
To make it simple, I'll just say Haibane Renmei, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Air, Magic Knight Rayearth I, and Cowboy Bebop have the best ending episodes.

I just finished watching Fruits Basket, and it made me cry. I loved the ending, though a bit abrupt, and a tiny bit open-ended.
The fact that Tohru could accept them all the way they were, even Kyo, just made me cry. Of course, knowing the pain that ALL the Sohma's went through, you couldn't help but feel bad for them all. And that Tohru even tried to reach out to Akito, that was pretty cool too. To me, kind of like how we ought to be to people that aren't so nice. It was a very TRULY Christian way to handle things, I think. Something I want to aspire to.
DNAngel was pretty good too.
I seem to think I remember Witch Hunter Robin being good too, but it's been so long since I finished it, I'm not sure.

I like the ending to Naruto, where he wakes up and goes to school and the characters in the series are his classmates and teachers.
And Rurouni Kenshin is cool, too, where Kenshin becomes a manga-ka and writes about his life from the point where he met Kaoru.
Or maybe Inuyasha. Sure, he get worms and dies, but it's a pretty touching episode.
Maybe even Scrapped Princess, where Pacifica sells the scrapped princess to a scrap metal company.
---
Okay, okay, probably Last Exile (classic bittersweet, but well executed), Samurai 7 (love the echoes of the movie), and Full Metal Panic

Undoubtedly, the best so far has been Haibane Renmei. But I agree, you have to watch the whole series (13 episodes), or it makes little impact.

I don't remember any of these...you must be joking...
I would have to say the Rurouni Kenshin's manga was a good ending!
but for ANIME:
Whisper of the Heart: the ending was just hilarious and cute!!!!
Howl's Moving Castle: SWEET!!!!
Aishiteruze Baby: *melts from the cuteness*
I would also say that Haibane Renmei was an awesome ending!

The final twelve episodes of Maison Ikkoku are the best of any anime I have ever watched. Everything is wrapped up nicely.

Haibane Renmei, of course.
Noir gradually builds up to a powerful final episode.
Jubei-Chan I has a very strong and surprising ending.

Hmm, not all of them. Haibane Renmei is the furthest thing from an action shounen you'll ever watch, as it fits much better in the shoujo category. However, it can be enjoyed by both boys and girls. As for the other two, I can't say much, as I haven't seen them. XD;

i have a bad habit of not finishing anime series but i did see the ending to last exile and rahxephon... in last exile they killed off my favorite character which happens in every series i watch and that's probably why i don't finish series. rahxephon was just weird.

I liked Onegai Teacher's ending, as well as Cowboy Bebop's and Outlaw Star's... although that last one kinda just kept things going beyond the ending...

Onegai Teacher felt like it actually ran for one episode past the ending. The last ep feels like they just needed to round out a season. (I wonder if they were originally planning to take a slot for a sporting event or something.)

That last episode on the US DVDs is an OVA. The original airing was only 12 episodes.
