I just saw that KAF has almost half of the episodes of this series. I was wondering if anyone here has seen it.

Uh... no, but I believe that I have heard the name before. What is it about?

It's supposed to be a show about a vampire girl who hunts down other vampires. It's been described as "Sailor Moon meets Buffy". But that's not even close. Sailor Moon was never as creepy as the ep I watched.

Vampire Princess Miyu was originally a manga about an adolescent vampire girl who hunts "shinma" to send them back to their dark world. Around 1988 or so, it was made into a four-episode OVA, which is a minor classic. The second episode, "A Banquet of Marionettes," is particularly effective. Miyu recently was made into a 26-episode television series, in which the vampire princess becomes a high school student. According to what I've read, it's not awful, but it's inferior to the OVA.

From what I remember it was a pretty good anime. little girl with a giant demon trapped bodyguards or something.

sort of like ur basic, I hunt you down *insert monster* and destroy it.

Overall I would say it's worth to watch the OVA and anything else is if it's your cup of tea.

Really is a beautiful manga/anime.
There's a 26 eps tv series and a 4 eps OAV.
However the 26 episodes tv series is not good as the manga and the OAV.
It's also quite dark (doesn't bring happiness and hopes ^^;; ). Expecially the tv series draws the worls as a sad and dark place.

The TV series came out in 1997, so it's newer than the OVAs (1988) but still not particularly recent. I actually liked the TV series very well; it's true that it is a monster-of-the-day type of anime for the majority of the episodes, which is a weakness. However, I thought that the last handful of episodes were very well done (some of them are about Miyu's past, and there is also a more purposeful storyline towards the end). If you aren't terribly turned off by the one-episode story arcs at the beginning, the series is worth watching for its end.

The manga was published by Studio Ironcat, so it's very hard to find. When I looked at it in a bookstore, I thought the artwork was good but found the dialogue hard to follow; however, I can't really give you an accurate assessment of the story, since I only skimmed through part of one volume.
