Fate/Stay Night

MOD NOTE: This thread has been merged with another. If you're confused, read post #15. It should read normally after that.
I know the animation is winding down to a close, but there ain't a thread on it. I don't care if only two other people besides me post.
So, discuss.
Possible topics:
-The decisions the creators made?
-Production values? (actually, I don't think there's much room for discussion--things have been consistently going to pot ever since after episode 14).
-Speculation (again, not much room for discussion since there are only 4 episodes left)

I've seen it up to around ep 14. I enjoyed it, although I thought Saber's identity was kinda weird. I should get around to watching the new releases...

Saber's identity is weird indeed, but nowhere nearly as weird as Archer's. And I'm still bitter that no one replied to my thread. TT__TT

Saber's is nowhere near as weird as Archer's?! I've got to see this now.

How many episodes are currently subbed and how many are they planning on having?

It's up to 21. There should only be 24.

There are hints all over episode 14 (you especially must think about the special ED--yes, that ending is JUST FOR THAT EPISODE. Why did they choose the screencaps that they did? Also, think about where you saw that red pendant that Archer left behind. Hint--it's last seen in episdoe 2).
I was already spoiled on that front, and if you still don't get it, look at the spoiler tag below.
Emiya Shirou
I'll watch ep 2 and 14 again tonight, then look at the spoiler.

I'm way behind with this series (I'm on episode 8 I think) but so far I love it simply because Assasin is played by one of my favorite voice actors.
I feel that the concept is original but the implementation of it is lacking. It's not really a show that I find myself dying to watch the next episode.
That and it really annoys me how they pronounce Hercules. -_-

Isn't this based on a hentai game?

Yes.
I believe what is really killing the show is the pacing. Episodes 1-4 can be characterized as "a mashed potato of talk with bacon bits of action" whereas 5-8 and 10 are pretty much completely talk. It is also what I consider a very audience unfriendly anime as a lot of details will fly over the heads of people who haven't played the game (like me, but I read synopses and chat at forums about it). Things improve starting episode 11.

I just merged the two threads about this topic because they were of similar size and similar in starting date. Keep in mind that all messages are now sorted in order of time posted, so conversations may be chopped up or make little sense.

Hercules is the latin name used in Roman mythology, Heracles is the original greek.

Sofar am up to date with it, tho looks like its ending pretty soon since its ep 20 last i remember. i found the pacing etc. quite good, keeping you with a sence of mystery and suspense.

Yes exactly.
If there hadn't been subtitle I wouldn't have had a clue what they were saying. Speaking of him, he sort of looks like a psycho version of this one guy from Rurouni Kenshin (one of Aoshi's minions) I think his name is Shikijou. Wow that was totally off topic.
I really do like the animation/character designs for this series. Well Lancer's outfit is dumb, but I like everyone else so far.

opps, forgot to respond after watching more eps. yep, archer's identity is odd...everytime i see him in the new opening i have to look at him closely (you know the scene!
) I actually figured it out without your spoiler...because some nut decided to post it as a comment in every single episode on youtube. but you know, it made sense, sorta, i'd noticed similarities before but i just thought maybe some ancestor or something.

Last episode aired today.
I am so disgusted that I won't even watch it.

why're you disgusted? i've never seen the anime so i'm just curious. anyways, i heard this anime was good from another source. what kind of objectionable content is featured in this series? isn't it suppose to be an action/adventure anime?

They replaced the only sex scenes in this particular scenario of the game with some ludicrous "dragon" (you'll find out when you see it). There's a bit of nudity, though. And though they removed the sex they had the gall to have one character dressed in a ridiculous bondage outfit and give orgasmic-sounding screams. Honestly, you can skip that episode (18) and not miss out on anything.

so, apart from episode 18, the series is pretty good?

still getting the raw for ep.24
Taking the show as is, I think it's a relatively good transition for the Fate scenario, with a few comprimises made in order to use a few popular elements of the other routes in the game (namely in episode 14). Though one problem the show has is pacing, at times being too slow (first 6 eps.) and then flying through things (mid teens). If the show had been planned to follow Fate completely instead this could have easily been overcome by adding the prologue section as episode 1 (this is the day and a half before Rin summons Archer).

OK, I saw the last episode. The production values were hot, but overall I was simply disappointed with the series. I guess it is partially my fault since I spoiled myself a bit. But I was hoping when Studio DEEN said they'd play with an original scenario, they meant more than just slapping a bondage outfit on Sakura and returning to straight Fate.
Ah well, there's always Utawarerumono.
