What animes that you have seen have had good endings in your opinions? I have seen a few animes recently that have been good only to have pathetic endings. No Spoilers please (at least without spoiler tags) If you want to, just list the titles.

I judge a good ending as any ending that left an impact on me for a fairly long period of time given the content of the show.

In alphabetical order, with reasons masked by spoilers. Not all are actually spoily, but I prefer to play it safe.

AIR
The last few episodes of this anime had me quite moody for some time. The second time I watched the series only made it worse, as I had a much greater understand of the plot elements, and everything seemed to have more impact.
Aishiteruze Baby
Quite possibly one of the more perfect endings ever made. I feel that many shows have endings that COULD have been perfect, but were marred in one way or another. This is a show where I think leaving it open-ended was the best way to do it. The last scene is adorable.
Azumanga Daioh
I cried. I cannot comprehend what made me cry here, but both times I watched the series I was crying at the end.
Banner of the Stars II
With the level of suspense and disbelief I had watching this particular season, this was simply awesome. I thought Jinto was gonna die, and using the same scene to intro the entire season using this last scene (in Baronh, the language of the Abh) was brilliant.
Elfen Lied
This show left me with lots of questions. Lots of questions. Not enough answers. Kurama's decision to sacrifice himself along-side his daughter was beautiful, in it's own sick and perverse ways.
Grave of the Fireflies
Nothing needs to be said about this film.
I, My, Me! Strawberry Eggs
Another incident of a near-perfect ending in my eyes. This show doesn't get nearly enough attention, in my opinion.
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (Rumbling Hearts)
Another brilliant ending. When I first watched this series, I really wanted Haruka to be the chosen girl, but when Akane began reading Mayaru's Gift, I began to cry, and I didn't stop crying. For a long time. I was an emotional wreck when I began watching the show, but even then, this show was creeping into my mind for several months after finishing it. My favorite anime, by a wide margin.
Kino's Journey
The little girl chose to stay, despite the knowledge it was going to end her own life. An excellent final episode, and yet Kino journeys onward.
The next couple shows are shows that I really feel would have been better if they'd been changed a bit.

Chobits
I feel that the sheer impact of the series would have been multiplied greatly had Chii never woken up again.
Mahoromatic
What's up with that final episode? Seriously ruined my appreciation for this one.
Mai-Hime
What's the point in killing off 75% of your cast (and some in incredibly emotionally driven moments) if you're only going to ressurect them at the end of the series -- And have them do NOTHING?! Just a cop-out happy ending in my eyes.
EDIT: WOO! 50th post!

First off, I have to agree about Strawberry Eggs getting bashed unfairly... I dont much... remember the ending, though... Except, obviously (It's a freaking given considering the premise of the show, so it isn't quite a spoiler, sorta like saying the north wins in a movie about the civil war, or the hero wins in a DC comic book movie) he gets discovered, but after that I don't remember...

The best ending to any anime, and likely to any TV show... Ever... Is Cowboy Bebop...
Bang!
Haha, it's just plain great...

Another equally, um, different ending, that was likely genius but I can't stand it... So, it's a good bad ending, and that would be... Well, End of Eva... I won't get into that (given it's Do not Discuss status, and all)

it's actually rather rare for an anime to have a good ending, in my opinion... I liked what I call the ending of Onegai Teacher, not the lame 13th episode... The twelveth episode... It wrapped it up nicely, we didn't need to see them freaking
Consummating their marriage...
I will always love the ending of Sailormoon Classic... Stars, not so much... But, if you treat SMC as it's own separate show, that was a GREAT ending... After that, it sorta lost something in the meaning (though the urgency did come back in stars a bit, and a bit in S, but overall it just wasn't urgent anymore...)
Those last two episodes, when they die one by one, to let Sailormoon get to Beryl and Metalia... *Sigh* One of my eternal favorites...
It is VERY rare for anime to end well... Lain and Boogiepop ended ok, but they weren't monumental... I mean, it was sorta monumental that they DIDN'T suck, given my experience with anime...

I would have to add Ranma 1/2. It just heart rendering the way they tie of the last episode.

How come no-one mentioned Trigun? The anime could have been better, but the last few episodes were great.

I think Paranoia Agent had the best ending out of every other anime title ever.

Full Moon wo Sagashite (anime) has the best ending ever, as far as I'm concerned. XD

Cowboy Bebop has a fantastic ending, too. Gives me chills every time.

Magic Knight Rayearth I. Incredible.

Air has a wonderful ending, so emotional.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky. A fantastic movie with a fantastic ending, to boot. :)

If I think of more, I'll have to post them. :D

Hm...personally I like defining good endings as happy, but I can also see a good ending in an emotional one.

My favorite endings:

RahXephon
Please Teacher
Please Twins
Chobits
Gundam Seed
Gundam Wing, and Endless Waltz
Nadesico
Fruits Basket
Orphen (Season 1)
Last Exile

Endings I think are good
But I don't like to watch
:

Chrono Crusade
Fit the series well and is really the only logical end but I hate it when they kill characters.
Cowboy Bebop

Samurai X Trust and Betrayal and Samurai X Reflection
The emotional inpact of these endings is intense, least for me, they are well done but I can only stomach them every so often. Hard to watch. I hate it when a character dies
hmm lets see here.

last exile had an awesome ending.
samarai champloo had a good ending also (minus a few details)
like when the ended up killing off her dad at the end...and they spent all that time looking for him
fruits basket was also good...if not a little short
and scryed would have been good...had there been a second season

Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVA is just about one of my favorite endings for anything, not just anime. It's a cliffhanger too, which makes it that much more exciting.

Now and Then, Here and There is a sad show, but not without hope. I love the last scene with Shu and Lala Ru.

Jubei Chan, a comedy from the same director, usually tears me up at the end.

Episode 12 was the end of the series. The 13th episode was not part of the original broadcast -- it's actually an OVA, which is also why the art style is slightly different. I agree that the series ends wonderfully, and I'll also agree that the OAV is un-neccessary.

why does so many people like the cowboy bebop ending. i thought it was very unusual and very sad as well. it had a (like Kenshin17 said) very intense emotional impact. especially on me since i'm really not used to seeing THOSE types of endings to animes. then again, i haven't seen very many animes all the way through.
i thought that samurai 7's ending was pretty good.

People like the ending because of the emotional impact, I think. It's so well done, it still gives me chills every time I see it. XD And it's not too unusual when anime
kill off main characters at the end. It's not as common, granted, but it's not totally unusual.
Anyways, yeah, my six pence. XD

Hope this isn't too severe a grave dig.

Anyway, I thought Princess Tutu's ending was incredibly fitting, yet incredibly heartbreaking.

It made SO much sense and it worked out SO well...but...too well.

*runs off to cry again.*

Also I thought the ending to Haruka8 was fairly fun. :\ It only gets better when you see the 8 omake endings. X3
