Kanon

I just finished watching this wonderful anime tonight. I thought it was a very original anime with very memorable characters. The constant twists in the plot and the mystery element to it made it all the more intriguing to me. There were some very beautiful moments in Kanon, as well as emotional moments. I think, all in all, it was really well done.
Kyoto Animation (animators of AIR) is going to make a remake of Kanon in the fall of 2006 (THIS YEAR! yay!) and it will be 26 episodes long. I looked at the site and the trailer for it and it looks good. As it is based off of a video game, both companies are staying pretty true to the style and the character design. Kyoto's style is distinct from this version, however. I'm excited to see what they come up with! If there will be more plot developement that could make it even better than this version, though this one, IMHO was pretty good (cept the music could have been better)
Have any of you seen this? What are your thoughts?

I don't know what it was about this anime, but it was incredibly touching for me, especially the last 4 episodes. While there were many things I didn't like (Yuuichi barely looked human; Mai, Shiori, and Nayuki didn't get the characterization they deserved; too many episodes set aside for certain characters near the end), overall it was very cute and heartfelt. I believe that when KyoAni goes back and corrects all the mistakes of the first anime, it will be the most heartwarming and heartwrenching anime of all time, even over Air.
I still can't believe it was based off an H-game either

Well... I can't really say anything that *hasn't* already been said. I also thought that Kanon was an amazing anime. But I do agree that Yuuichi looked weird. He looked more like a guy in the trailer, though, which is good. I hope that when it comes out some fansubbers jump right on it and get to work so I don't have to wait! Btw, I think it's kinda neat that all three of us have had Ayu avatars at some point xD
On a side note... I want to watch this again (and I should watch it again)... but I don't feel like crying again xD
EDIT: I should have posted this when I first posted, but I forgot to..... anyway:

This site is running a translation project for Kanon. As soon as they complete the all-ages version translation (they say they're 60% complete) I'm buying a copy of this game on ebay or something. Just thought I'd point this out!

Supposedly there were Kanon games for PS2 and Dreamcast which were rated E for Everyone. I dunno if they got translated into English though.

I'm not sure, but 10 to 1 says they weren't. We never get anything good XD

I enjoyed the original anime, hope they do justice for the doubly-long one.

There's something that I have been wondering... probably more information about this would be in the Kanon game, but...
Did anyone else think that the relationship between Kurata Sayuri and Kawasumi Mai was being portrayed as something more than friendship? Like... they ARE best friends, I understand that... but there was some strange vibe I was getting... like the animators were trying to get us to think there was something more. I don't WANT it to be that way, believe me... but It just seemed that way to me... or mebbe i'm just overworking the issue and there are no romantic inclinations between them... o_O!
What do you guys think?

Mai/Sayuri is a fan couple, but I really think that's just people reading into it too much. They are indeed best friends, and I believe that Sayuri so deeply cares about Mai that it ends up looking like that. In reality, I see it more as a sisterly sort of love, but I highly doubt it's romantic.
