Lindsay Lohan playing Sailor Moon in a live-action movie?!

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Wed May 10, 2006 5:59 pm

From ANN:

"MTV.com's Larry Carroll asked Lindsay Lohan about rumors she would be cast in a new Sailor Moon movie:

The people behind the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Japanese manga series "Sailor Moon" have sent her some materials to look at, she said, and fans have begun lobbying hard for Lohan to play the titular character, a rail-thin blonde known for her strong powers and sexy costumes.

"I read that [online] the other day," Lohan said of her supposed "Sailor" casting. "I haven't read the script; I don't even know if there is a script. ... I read a lot of things [online] that I don't know about myself that apparently people think are true."

ANN earlier reported rumors of a Sailor Moon movie announcement in Animage magazine were untrue. No further details about the potential movie are available."

No... just no!! :/

YES! UNTRUE, UNTRUE, UNTRUE!

And I pray that they will stay this way. If there is an American remake of a Sailor Moon movie, it will be horrible and laughable. And I will cry. And still see it. And cry while I watch it.

It seems very unlikely at the moment from all they're saying, but hey, I don't really care about Sailor Moon XD;

Seriously though, even if there is going to be a Sailor Moon movie, the fact that Lindsay doesnt seem to know about it kinda points to the fact that she's not going to be in it.

With the issue of copyright and other things happening currently in Japan with Toei and Takeutchi Naoko, I wouldn't be thinking that they'd be shopping a script...

Sailormoon isn't popular enough anymore to get a live action American movie... That, and it would suck... So... no...

Linsay Lohan. . . as Sailor Moon. Yeah. Right.

For real, if they were making a live action Sailor Moon movie, the chances Linsay Lohan would be cast as Serena is, IMHO, absolutely impossible. The fans would scream bloody murder. Surely the studio would know that casting Lindsay would be shooting themselves in the foot. Or, they should.

Gosh, I hope this isn't true. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think it could be good as long as they have the right actors play the parts and they talk with the original creaters to collab with them... but... SHE would not make a good Sailor Moon. XD

Only in the Twilight Zone.

I had actually read this elsewhere on the Net weeks ago, and I refrained from mentioning here simply because I knew it was a rumor. Even if it is the truth, I would deny it. It's the principle of the matter. :)

I like Sailormoon

I'm okay with lindsay lohan

This is STILL an utterly rediculous idea that goes wrong in so many ways right from the beginning

American cast... American names, an extension of the American story (meaning if, say, zoicite is in it, he'll be a she, and there will be no metalia...) Then further deviation from the story, which is a given in an adaptation... Transformation sequences in live action = weird (yes, I've seen the Japanese live action show, and it's... mildly amusing (a talking plush doll??? What the crap were they thinking? They could have, at the very least, pulled a "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" on us, but NOOO... Had to get a plush doll)

Lindsay Lohan is too old to play Sailormoon... She's supposed to be 14, and though you may be able to stretch it a couple years, she's like... va va va voom for a 14 year old who's character (and they make a point of this in the Japanese version) is flat chested... If they did a live action version, they should use actual teen girls not adults... So much wrong with this from the getgo.

And, no, she basically denied it if you read that first post, so no...

Also, Gina Davis optioned Sailormoon a long time ago, but i'm sure she's lost her rights to it by now. (Gina Davis was assumed to be playing Beryl, but there was no guarantee she'd even be in it if she decided to make it)

Heh they already do it on TV though... 19-29 year olds playing the part of 18 year olds (reffering to the OC for this^^)

Never heard of the FF7 one (maybe the rumour was mistaken by thinking Advent Children was real or something?) but I did hear about DBZ as well as other stuff like Steven Speilburg directing a Lupin 3 movie, and of course, the Eva movie supposingly being filmed right now in New Zealand and to come out next year... of course with the Battle Angel Alita movie, won't be till 2009 because that's the supposed date when the technology on making 3-D theatres will be up and running. That THAT would be something worth watching! Heh a funny thought, thinking back when that does happen "Remember when movies used to be FLAT?!" "I know it was only yesterday when they used state-of-the-art CGI!"

A live action American movie of Sailor Moon?

No.

Just no. XD

With the live action Japanese episodes of Sailor Moon being as tacky and Power Ranger-y as they are, an American live action movie of this would cause the destruction of movie theaters across the country. Considering the possibility that a movie of this calibur, made in America, would be aimed at 12 year old girls and under with no regards to the actual show whatsoever...No. XD Just no.

Let's all hope and pray that this is just a big, ugly rumor.

I would say if they did a live action movie I would say do auditions of unknown stars. I would think there are some anime con cosplayers out there who could be Salior Moon and the Salior Scouts and other needed charactors for a movie.
You could add some well known actors to at least have some draw to a movie and also make sure there is a good director to make a good movie.

I think if they absolutely HAD to do this using American current teen idol actresses, I guess I'd vote for Hilary Duff as Sailor Moon/Usagi/Serena. At least she's blonde and has that whole ditzy/lovable thing down. While she's still too old, she's over a year younger than Lindsay. I know a few years back when Hil was still in Lizzie McGuire someone online suggested she should play Serena.

 It wouldn't surprise me. Gotta have that politically correct thing going for them. XD Then again, that's how Power Rangers always was. *remembers the most recent TV version of Rodger's and Hammerstein's Cinderella, in which Cinderella was black, her stepmother was white, she had one black stepsister and one white stepsister, the prince was Asian, the queen was black, and the king was white.*

That's the epitome of political correctness right there. XD Well, that or some messed up genetics. XD;

For America, yes, they probably would have to throw in different races to be "all-inclusive" or something. Japan doesn't have to worry about that. However, ignoring the anime of Sailor Moon, if you read the manga, Sailor Pluto is dark-skinned...in fact, I think that Sailor Pluto was intended to be black in the manga, and that aspect was just dropped for the anime.

Why would that be bad? I personally enjoyed Sailor Moon Another Story for Super Famicom, and though I haven't played it, I've heard nothing but good things about the Sailor Moon game for PS1. So I fail to see how rumors that Nintendo making a Sailor Moon game for the Wii would be bad...in fact, I think they would be pretty awesome.

I meant to say that Nintendo+Sailor Moon=VERY bad combo.

I just think that someone else BESIDES Nintendo would make a Sailor Moon game for the Wii...
