Wow, I can't even remember the last thread I started in this forum. Anyways, that's unimportant.
For all you Ghibli addicts (such as myself ^_______^; ) who might not have heard, the second and more complete trailer for Ghibli's newest film, directed by Hayao Miyizaki's son, Goro, Gedo Senki aired in Japan on April the 28th. I've taken the liberty of hosting it on Yousendit for the next three days (Or some number of downloads. Whichever comes first.
)
Download it
here!
Personally, I'm pretty excited. It looks epic. For the most part, it has the same vibe imminating from it that made me love Hayao's movies in the first place. The only difference that I might notice between this movie and other recent Ghibli films is that, from the trailer, it appears that the characters are a little less detailed than those characters created by Hayao. Still, that could just be some unbased impression on my part caused my the extrememly high expectations for all Ghibli movies.
Apparently, the movie is scheduled to air on July the 17th in Japan. I hope we get a theatrical release some time shortly after that.

Yeah, that thought struck me to. But, actually, we shouldn't be surprised. I mean, Hayao looked over all most all of the animation in his movies, re-drawing whatever he didn't like, but never in any of his films did he COMPLETELY draw the entire movie. His animating staff would have done that. Chances are, father and son are using the same animating staff-- erego the similarity in style.

I watched the trailer (subbed version in HQ^^) and it looked pretty exciting... didn't get into much nor really show the dragon or even that girl on the stamp, but just looks like a great story... especially the scene of the children sitting in chains, I just really want to know what's going on and watch it now^^ ...then again I COULD read the book, but I feel it would spoil the movie^^

I don't actually know. It may have to do with the world of Earthsea from some fantasy novels written in the 60s.

Personally, now when it comes to Ghibli movies, I'd like to know as little as possible so that it can end up being more of a surprise for me^^ I mean with Howl, all I knew was a girl named Sophie was cursed into being an old woman, something about a wizard named Howl and he was a bird or something, and in different pics he either was either a blonde or brunette, which confused me a little^^ I enjoyed the movie, almost not knowing what's going on. All I know about the Earthsea subbed trailer, was about children in chains trying to search for freedom or something like that? *shrugs*
Lately, I've been trying to avoice previews from anime, because I feel they give away too much. Just went to see a movie at the theatre and it wasn't AS funny as I expected, only because the commercials already showed all the main/funny parts :/ So there wasn't much left to expect :/

The altest Ghibli trend: turning books into anime. Actually, it's an amusing idea^^ Usually it's "turn books into the newest big Hollywood flick, with all the best high-tech CGI graphics around!"
I hope Ghibli does start making more orginals though... Hmmm now that I think about it, Laputa was another one sort of based on a book too, wasn't it? Everything else was basically sparked by imagination of Miyazaki.

This certainly looks intriguing, especially the female character behind the flame with the weird eye makeup. What strikes me is how so many of the elements in this trailer reminded me of past Ghibli films. Nearly every shot reminded me of another film in their canon, which could be good or bad.
Regardless, it looks like a must-see, as any Ghibli film is. I personally hope Miyazaki's son can pull off a masterpiece, so that we won't have to worry about every losing the Miyazaki magic anytime soon; the elder Miyazaki may be able to retire if his son can pull off the same movie magic of his dad, or make some magic of his own that parallels or rivals his father's.
Keeping fingers crossed.
