Why do anime shows sometimes change theme songs?

I know Inuyasha and Full Metal Alchemist change their themes and I've heard that Gundam Seed Destiny does as well. So why does this happen?

Most popular anime series that are over 50+ episodes have at least one theme song change to keep things fresh for the viewers, to reflect series progress, and so they can get contracts with hotshot J-Pop artists.

Eh? Umm...it's because if there are new things introduced into a show, keeping the same theme songs really makes the show look outdated and it gets tedious.

They also change the animation for the themes as well. Some times it might be simply to add new major characters in the opening credits. For example one of the reasons for the changes in the Inuyasha opening themes was so that they could probably include Kagura and Koga in the second season opening credits.I don't know if that is a reason for every change, but it appears to be in the Inuyasha opening changes.
