Diamond Daydreams?

Has anyone seen the anime Diamond Daydreams?
I just read
this review from ANN on it, and it sounds like it's pretty good...and they also mentioned that the anime is at a 'PG level'. Does this stay constant throughout the series? It seems like a nice, clean, slice-of-life sort of story (and one that even non-anime fans I know could like!), so I'm really interested in it if it's as clean as the review makes it sound. But I don't want to be surprised with tons of fanservice in a later volume or something. ^^;;

I might be confused, but I advise you to go try and watch a trailer of this one. I the trailer I saw referred to a contained a character who was having an affair and a teenage girl who was interested in an adult man. I could be confusing it with another anime, but I was pretty sure this was the one.

Ooh, gotcha. So kind of like Nana, huh? (I didn't even read past the first few pages after Nana had a similar set-up...) I don't really think I want to get into it if the plotline is like that. ^^; Thanks!

The anime itself is compiled of six short stories, each two episodes in length, so you could probably skip over that particular story if you so desired.

I've watched the first two volumes. One story deals with a college girl who belongs to a film making club at school and wants to be a director. She lives with her boyfriend out of marriage. For the most part the stories are clean with no fanservice and very minimal language if any. I enjoyed the one about the girl who is confined to the hospital and falls in love with her doctor. There is also a story that evolves around a girl who is a figure skater and her struggle back to compete after an accident that involved her best friend. There are difinately some behind the scenes issues like I mentioned above but it's not really an "in your face" occurance in the storyline.

I agree with Rev Doc; I've seen the first two (out of three) volumes, and would say it is a series of romantic short stories of average quality. I actually get the impression that the producers lifted a page out of Hikaru no Go and decided the best way to market Hokkaido was to make an anime out of it (you are treated to a wide variety of Hokkaido vistas and attractions throughout the series). So, if you don't mind a little product placement by the local tourist bureau, the stories deal with romantic situations in a modern setting. Mostly harmless.

In that case, I must be confusing it with something else. Gosh, what was that. . .
Anyways, sorry for what would appear to be my misinformation. I need to take better mental notes.

That really sounds like NANA to me. The opening pages of the manga shows one of the Nana's story--where she leaves Tokyo after she's heartbroken that the married man she's been having an affair with has decided to stay with his wife and move (and she's...surprised by this...how?). Like i said, I set down the manga after that and never read ahead.
EDIT: Ah, actually, one of the plot lines DOES center around an affair. From the official website:
"Shoko Saibara runs a local radio program called "Cappuccino Break". There, she dicusses with listeners their relationships and offers guidance as to how they can keep the fires burning. Her show is successful, her fans love her--she couldn't ask for a better job. The problem: she is having an affair with a married man. Not only is this a bad idea in general, but also, given the subject matter of her radio show, it brings into question the integrety of her advice. As their shaky relationship grows even more unstable, Shoko is forced to ask herself some very important and painful questions--questions she found much easier to answer when someone else was asking them."
It sounds like it deals more with the distructive nature of affairs, but it still does make me nervous.

That is what I saw! The affair must just be a lot less "in your face" than they trailer made it appear.

It must be on the last volume. That hasn't been released yet (comes out June 6th). I guess we can revisit this then after someone has seen it.

That's probably a good idea. I have some other animes lined up to watch, too, so a month or so won't be too long of a wait. ^^ thanks, guys!

Ah... Even if it was getting muddled with some other similar titles, I believe you were thinking of the right one, at least in part. In addition to the affair angle, there is a story arc where a 20-year-old girl is interested in an older guy.
I'm watching the series right now. I've not gotten very far in it so I can't comment on the series as a whole. But other than one swear word I've not seen anything that should be too objectionable, as long as you keep a proper perspective yourself.
