CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

Well, I checked the anime review section for a review on this series, but I didn't find one. So! Here I am, to ask you all about this anime!

I've heard it's good, and I'm thinking about buying the thinpak version of it. I just need to know...What's the content like? The rating that Right Stuf gave it was 13+, but I wanted to be sure. Sexual content would definitely turn me away (depending on the way it was presented, and how explicit it was), homosexual content is not tolerated, and extreme language would keep me from it as well (usage of the f word, over-usage of b**** and s***). It looks like a cute series, though, and I'd like to give it a try, so if anyone can give me some details on the content, I'd much appreciate it!

This show's really clean. I was going to let my 14 year old sister see it. That's a pretty big deal for me.

The only things to worry about are:

1) Anna, one of the main character, Sora's, best friends is a very cool girl. All the other girls deeply admire her. You COULD say they had a crush on her, but I chose to believe they simply were impressed by her cool looks and athletic ability. Also, at one point, Anna is cast as the Prince in a Kaleido Stage production. She and the girl who plays the princess take some photos where Anna is instructed to look dreamy, or something to that affect. Nothing to really worry about, honestly.

2) This show is about a theatrics troupe, so expect a lot of leotards. Luckily, I can't really think of any of the stage costumes which were much if any less modest than, say, a one piece bathing suit.

3) There is some minor language. Nothing over the top though. I guess the highlight would probably be a couple D*mns.

4) The largest thing that might be of consequence is the spirit of the stage, Fool. Fool is a spirit who appear to Sora and guides her in her rise to stardom (or lack there of) at Kaleido Stage. However, Fool is a bit of a pervert, and he often advises Sora to "Rest yourself. Go take a shower. I'll watch over you." This is played PURELY for laughs, however, and such attempts to take advantage of his young protege always end in Fool's being locked in a drawer, or blindfolded and hung upside down from a door post by her. There's really nothing at all serious about it. As I mentioned, I, a super protective older sister, would have felt perfectly comfortable letting my baby sister see it.

It's a pretty standard "Conquer your curcuimstances and follow your dreams" series. Definitely not the most original thing to come out of the box, but it was still very cute.

I want to be like Layla when I grow up. XD

I second the fact that this is a really good series.

One other issue that some might have with it, Fool utilizes tarot cards as he looks to issues Sora will be facing. In Kaleido Star: New Wings (the new season just out) he no longer uses the cards but moves to the use of a crystal ball.

I liked the series, but the only problems I had was the Tarot Cards and Fool's pervertednessness

but overall it was a very cute series, and I did buy the thinpack! (Sooo much cheaper!)

Indeed, a highly recommended, very uplifting series. Unfortunately, the Fool is the only truly objectionable aspect of the show, and in all honesty, he's rather unnecessary.

Fool's unnecessary?! You've GOT to be joking. Not only does he make great comic relief, but he's also Sora's mentor and the guide for all true Kaleido Stars!

I understand that, but the writer(s) could have used a different plot device to accomplish what he does. His presence alone takes something away from the show for me. Just didn't like him.
