From ANN:
"4Kids Grows Up, Launches Tween to Adult Licensing Subsidiary (2006-04-19 11:31:36)
4Kids Entertainment has announced the launch of a new subsidiary, 4Sight Licensing Solutions, inc. 4Sight will specialise in the licensing and marketing of brands aimed at adults, teens and tweens. Current 4Kids brands being moved to 4Sight to not include any of 4Kids anime properties. Todd Fromer of KCSA publicity, representing 4Kids, said that anime isn't necessarily ruled out of the 4Sight line up, but that anime lends itself more to a children's market."
I think it might not be much of a bad thing... as long as when they DO dub anime, that they'll use orginal names and have nice and uncut^^ But wait, if they aren't going to be licensing anime, per say... then what would they? Adultish cartoons etc? :/
EDIT: missed the part where it said the aniem won't be moved to it, so uncut stuff/orginal language won't exactly be shown...
About the "children's market" thing, yeah, the anime directed TO children maybe
Would a child be allowed to watch something like *insert violentish etc. anime here*? Oy... -_-;

Worried.
I don`t think good voice acting is too innapropriate for kids so why would a show for older people be any different?

Wait and see what happens. For now it is doubtful wheter they will actually include anime in their 4Sight line up.Also please note that they refer to anime as being
for children which makes it highly dubious that they will actually go into adult anime.

I could just repeat my post in that thread on ANN, but I won't. You can go find it if you want.

I recall someone from another site talking about trying to get them to do this.
This could be very good or very bad. I'm not too sure yet. o.O

Oh yes, FMA, NGE, Inuyasha, and GITS are all aimed directly at children. :p

Wow. I wasn't expecting this.
This could be good or bad. I just hope 4kids puts someone responsible to head 4sight (someone who know's what they're doing). And I hope they hire new voice actors with better voice talent. :/ We'll just have to wait and see...

i actually don't really care what 4Kids is up to cuz i'm not really even into anime. but i did find this kind of funny.

Frankly, I'm extremely skeptical that this is going to be anything worthwhile, all the more so after I read that they won't include anime.

i have my doubts it will be good... but i'll reserve judgement until i see an anime they do.

Wait...what could possibly be something 4Sight would want to pick up besides anime? A cartoon? An adult cartoon? Whah? I don't get it. -_-''

No it won't be 4kids hentai.
. . . It would obviously be 4Perverts.

It could go either way, IMO. Granted, 4Kids doesn't have the best reputation for accuracy in their dubs. But it could be just a thing of marketing, such that if it's targeted toward an older audience they'd feel they could stay truer to the original. It could also mean some rereleases of titles that in the States, they originally targeted at kids (i.e., One Piece).
Just trying to be optimistic.
And Mangafanatic...
on the 4Perverts comment.

...but it says that their already licensed anime will NOT be going to 4Sight because they think it's still more "4Kids" :/

Imagine if 4kids did GantZ.
I would break into my usualy parody of the One Piece DUB theme song, but Ark advises against it so instead I`m just going to have you guys imagine I said something really stupid that would get you to dislike me.

Yeah...this doesn't make sense. They launch 4Sight and then what? Just let it sit there? I can't think of one thing that 4Sight could pick up to dub. Not one.

I'm guessing they'll pick of titles that are all around more adult rather than start re-releasing the uncut version of current material. When they say they're catering to an "older audience", I get the feeling that they mean the programming itself will be of a more "Excuse me, can I see some I.D., please?" nature. It just seems to me that this kind of wording isn't what you use when you just want to inform the world that you're going to respect your older audience by not censoring your anime.
That's just my two yen, though.

I missed that part of it at first... My bad.
Although when I reread the piece, it sounded to me like they're trying keep the door open to possibly do rereleases later; they just thought anime seemed too kiddie to do them right now. (

Ya know what it sounds like?
"Oooh! Well, it seems like more fans today are actually older, so that's grab some 'older' anime, make it our way, then sell it back and make more money! GENIOUS!"
Well, you could say they're a little late on that, but that's basically what it seems like. Quite odd that they say "tweens", yet consider anime "for kids", especially when One Piece itself was already made for the "tween" and up age.

I was slightly tempted to edit this comment, because we've put the One Piece dub on the DNDL list. However, I'll just let it stand and just make a general comment to the thread: Let's not talk about One Piece, okay?

We need to suggest a title to 4Kids so they'll go down in flames. Got any titles that might do that?

4Kids thinks that all anime is for kids, huh? I'm sure that they haven't heard of Monster, for one thing. It wouldn't be a good thing if 4Sight licensed Monster.
