Every anime ever? *dodges flames, bullets, and stray tomatoes*
Fruits Basket had a pretty lame ending. But that's because they made the freakin' anime before the manga was even finished.

I almost want to agree. There haven't been too many animes that have had wonderful endings (IMO) except for maybe Kanon. Kanon ended up exactly as I had wanted it to, which was kind of shocking at first.
But... for a worst ending... I have to say Eva. I like Eva, don't get me wrong, but the end was horrible. It didn't make much sense unless you watch it a few times.
And then there's the whole thing where EVERYBODY DIES (except Shinji, Asuka, and Rei). That kind of irritated me.
Heh, what about the tv ending? (Assuming you were refering to the movie ending? I dunno I haven't seen either in many years^^)
You know, the one where everyone sits around on chairs and discusses their emotions and feelings etc, and when Shinji finally figured things out, everyone came out and clapped :/
Heh, find it funny how fans thought it was so horrible and full of hate/death threatening letters (apparently) that the director (forget his name :/) was basically forced into making End of Eva :/
Another series that was sort of :/ Well Wolf's Rain was... pretty :/ X/1999 the movie was :/ and AIR wasn't totally what I was hoping, although pretty expected.

Kare Kano. Terrible, pointless ending. The director quit halfway through. I heard that even the manga artist swore she would have never agreed to make it an anime had she known.
The director? Anno, the same fellow who brought you Eva. Need I say more?

The thing about Eva's ending is this:
The series portrays the events that happen in Shinji's mind during Instrumentality. The people shown in the last two episodes are expressions of what Shinji thinks they think of him (if that makes any sense; I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it). The events that happen in Death&Rebirth/End of Evangelion are the events that happen in real life leading up to and during Instrumentality.
Ok, yeah I remember reading up on it and that's what it was... even though the 2 endings (as far as the "forced into making a new ending" thing) weren't supposed to really crossover. Still, if End of Eva wasn't made, the series ending would've been pretty bland^^

It's really up to the fan. Lots of people don't think they coincide. Some do. I just happen to think they do.
One ending I didn't like was Last Exile. The ending to that series pretty much ruined the whole series for me. For one reason or another, I just can't push myself to want to watch it again.

I liked the ending of Last Exile...
Inuyasha XD They just cut it off because the ratings were falling and they were too caught up with the manga. The manga is still on going btw. I've heard the manga-ka still has around 100 chapters planned out. (I think)

The X/1999 movie's ending was notably disappointing in my mind. I never expected Fuuma to end up that way.
sCRYed's ending was pretty unsatisfying as well. I so wanted to see some resolution between Ryu and Mimori.
I was fine with the ending of Furuba and EVA.
Former: They chose a pretty good section to pull the plug.
Latter: The director wasn't exactly in the best mindset then so I had little expectations. Same applies for Karekano.

I'm surprised no one has said RahXephon. Making a movie to understand the storyline? Yeah. Even though I liked it, and it made sense...
The whole world basically went back in time and the whole process restarted.
Trigun... you're telling me that the two most powerful beings on the planet are facing off, and they have a gun fight?!
Any show that just trails on and on past its prime is doomed to lame endings, including some of my favorites... Kenshin, Ranma, Inuyasha, etc.
I understood RahXephon's ending perfectly fine.
One ending that I really liked was the Irresponsible Captain Tylor OVA. So cool, moved me to a man's tears! *salute* Good bye Soyukaze! You served us well.

Having just seen the final episode, I have to say that NGE's ending was really... annoying.
EDIT: Mm... Yeah, CR's right. I'll just say I didn't like the ending and leave it at that.

guys...EGE Is on the DND list....remember?
ANYWAY...
I agree with most of the anime mentioned...I hope that Funi gets The japanese company that made FB to continue it..there is so much I would love to see animeated..
Kenshin ended when it needed to go on and finish the manga..
And I just laughed at Scryed's ending.. I am serious.. I was like "WHAT?!"
umm I agree with Trigun too.
I also agree that Kare Kano's anime was just plain terrible, after episode 15.. I mean when a company resorts to basically puppets..and stills...*shiver* that was so terrible!!!!
I liked Preatear's ending as well as Haibane Renmei.

lol ya about scryed...im with you all on that one. it just ended and left a big gap w/ showing them all grown up. it made me believe that they were going to make a season two which ya i know they havent said they arent going to but they have yet to do it.
another ending i didnt like was FLCL. it was really confusing and just kind of ended. i dunno, i just didnt really like it. then again it was only like 6 eps long wasnt it?

i'd have to agree with kare kano. the beginning was so amazing! the first 13 eps or so were great! then they had to resort to making half the episode clip shows so they could streach the little material they had out to a full season. it's not really their fault, they did the best they could with only limited manga volumes being out. i really hope they'll make a season 2 when the manga is finished!

I'll have to disagree with you there! I understood FLCL's ending! What I DIDN'T understand was the reason for putting Naota in that very ugly black uniform! I'm a dude who's really into colors, and I think the jet black uniform took away from his cool blue eyes! Back on the subject, I really couldn't stand S-Cry-Ed's attempt at an ending. It just reaffirmed why I completely dislike it!

FLCL is one of those animes where the whole time you're watching you're like "what the heck" but then when it's over you're like "oh... oh no... oh wait... i understand this.... i cant believe i understand this!"
some people who watch it twice get more out of it the second time too.

I have seen FLCL like 6 times..and I STILL don't get it...O_o

trinity blood. The mangaka died I think, so the manga is just left there... to be unfinished forever. While the anime's ending I heard, sucked.
Monster's ending was AMAZING though. Same with paranoia agent! Can't go wrong with those!
Futakoi was a pointless anime alltogether. The ending wasn't the only thing that was bad, the whole series was.

Nadesico's ending was sorta lame... Of course, there were TWO games and a movie afterward (the end of the series was the dreamcast game, so I've been told, and not the movie) I also hated the end of Captain Tylor, at least the TV show... I haven't watched the OVA...
I was told ep 102 was the end of Kodocha, and if that's true, it was lame... It looked like the show was going to keep going, and it just stopped...
I'm gonna have to disagre about every anime having horrible endings... Sailormoon Season 1, which was never planned (manga wise) as being more than that, ended great, and the end of stars was... ok... Bebop has about the greatest ending to any show ever (that includes that "it was a dream" ending in Newhart and the wrap up in Wonder Years) I liked the endings to Lain, Boogiepop, and the part of Onegai Teacher that I consider the ending (Episode 12) before the new ending they invented that ruined the series...

fullmetal alchemist ending sucked. good thing there's a movie to back it up though. getbackers ending was pretty bad. they could've made the series a lot longer.

I cringe whenever I hear of an anime "It should have been longer" as that is almost never the case... They just need to learn to write stories better to fit something compelling in a smaller space.

...or it can be the other way around. Take my one example of Blood: The Last Vampire. It was a very short film, and with the way it ended, it could of been longer and had more content in it.
Or even taking Advent Children: didn't get a good chance for other characters to make a real good appearance... if they made a series (like even in anime, cause Last Order was so well done by Madhouse^^) then maybe I'll be happy^^
