Full Metal Alchemist ended last night. (3-18-06) So, what'd you think? I think it was a great ending. I loved what happened to Dante. Yum!
I can't wait for the movie!

It was okay.....
It all happened too fast...
I don`t even remember how Dante passed. Did Gluttony eat her? If so, what happened to Gluttony.
And did Bradley`s son die?
Too many plot holes.
I think the manga will handle it better.

other than those i loved the ending. the only problem is the fact taht unless they show the movie on AS then i more than likely wont get to see it. <_<
but i thought they ended it pretty good. i had another question but i would rather now spoil it for those who didnt get to see last nights finale. so altogather i liked the ending.

None of em. It was okay. Very cinematic, however it annoyed me that
Ed stays forever in our world
And to make things worse. The movie wasn't all too that great. The ending being the worst
Ed and Al both decide to live together in our world instead of Risembool, their world
Bah, I didn't like it. I watched it subbed a few days before it aired on TV, and I thought I absolutely hated it. However, after watching it again last night, I realized that it wasn't ALL bad. For instance, the acting was fantastic (as usual), Riza and Roy ended up together (yay! :3), the dramatic effect was very good, Pride's death scene did rock, and we still got to see Al being human and happy again.
The downsides? It was far too open, we really don't know what happened to Dante (she clapped her hands together just as Gluttony was lunging at her to take a bite. When the elevator door opened, they were both gone. Come now, we know that Gluttony couldn't have eaten himself! XD), and we have no idea how Edward is going to search for Al. Wrath is off on his own with automail limbs, but what will become of him? He is still a humunculus, after all. Oh, and what happened to Envy? Is he just stuck inside the gate, in some dragon form? Or did he actually make it to the other side? And now we have Alphonse going off with Izumi again to train, not to mention that Edward and Winry didn't end up together, like I hoped they would.
I understand that the movie may answer some of those things, but for those who don't have access to the film at the moment, they'll have to wait for quite a while to find out some of those things (probably not even all of them).
Overall, I think that this was a good episode, but a horrible ending, if that makes any sense. XD I did appreciate the fact that Adult Swim left it completely uncut for its TV debut, though.

I thought it was good. yes, there were some things that left me pondering, though Radical Dreamer covered most of the things I was wondering too XD. I believe the movie might answer those questions, though I'm not sure since I havn't seen the movie, but, I'm looking forward to. it wasn't really that bad, because of all the people who were saying it was crap, I thought it was a waste to see it, but I actually liked it. I loved the message though, that the world isn't perfect.
but anywho, my favorite part is when Hawkeye and Mustang get together, they're so cute :3. oh, and yay for the bloody battles. awesome, the violence, the blood, I loved it.
now, I can't wait to see the movie. I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait. \o.o/

I think that it was one of the best anime endings I've ever watched. I especially liked the theme of sacrifice, and the fact that it, in the end, it doesn't matter how each brother ended up, just that it happened. The major plot was wrapped up, which pleases me to no end. The minor subplots just didn't matter as much to me.
A very hopeful, positive, feel-good ending. I can't wait for the movie now.

Sorry to pick on you like this, but how was the movie awesome? I found it to be like a something the scripters pulled right out of their hats and didn't think too clearly upon. A few problems come to mind:
-Why the heck was envy some random dragon?
-How Hoenheim just randomly appears and gets killed by Envy
-The random appearance of Wrath. What has he been doing this whole time?
-Pride is now some random Jewish archeologist or something
-Hitler was randomly in the movie
-The worst part: WHY DID THEY NOT GO BACK TO RISEMBOOL??
In the movie, Pride was a Jewish film director (hint: Fritz Lang).
The ending, as I stated elsewhere, was not very good in my opinion. It was too open and pretentious, and the plotholes were too much. I thought the film was terrible, especially since they put no effort into the animation (it's literally no better than an episode of the TV series), and the CG was cringe-enducing.
That's not to say everything about the ending was bad. It had some cool parts, and it was aesthetically pleasing. Overall it didn't please me.

I wasn't completely satisfied with it but I don't hate it. I honestly have no idea what happened to Dante and Gluttony, though. So that is really left open since there was a hole at the bottom of the elavator if I remember correctly. And the other plotholes that were mentioned.
But overall it was pretty good. I like the different worlds thing at the end it has that bittersweet feel. Also seeing some RoyxRiza made me feel good too.

the hole was where gluttony ate thru to get to dante.

i seriously thought that the ending left many unaswered questions and was extremely annoyed at the ending until i found out that there was a movie. all i need to do now is try to find it and find the time to watch it.

I wasn't really satisfied with what happened to Ed and Al, but I was much ecstatic with the Roy x Riza scenes. They put me in a very fangirly *squee* mood.

No worries, the FMA movie will get rid of any happy feelings you had about that. : P

Funny, FMA went static in a lot of parts during the ending.
Ruby, I believe Gluttony ate Dante but I`m not sure. I heard Dante makes no appearence in the film but only Alberto can tell us that for sure.
For one thing, I wish there was a "Cimatic Final Battle". That is what this show lacked.
Ed vs. Greed remains my favorite fight scene in FMA, no, anime history.

I agree there were plenty of holes here and there. And how is Ed going to get back to his world if he has to rely on mechanical devices to travel from ours back to there?
Maybe he could wait say about 70 years and hitch a ride with SLIDERS and hope they Slide into his universe.
Ok,joking aside,I think that the end scene that segued between Ed and Al on the trains was a nice touch. And as far as the whole Riza and Roy thing...didn't most of us at least suspect a little that they had a thing going on on the side?
IMO it would be nice to see Rose and Ed finally find some time alone together.I think it would be nice for them to wind up together.
I think Winry acts more like Ed and Al's Big Sister so that would have been weird if she and Ed got together!

I loved the ending...though I will admit, I agree with Tom...it needed a Climactic Battle Scene in the end...I've heard various opinions about the movie...I still look foward to seeing it, though
I love RoyxRiza!!!
I'm excited, because Wrath sort of turned good in the end, and he's my fav homunculus!!!!

i agree. i also find it ironic that wrath now has automail like ed did. in the end neither of them got to keep ed's arm and leg. dont know why i brought that up. i was just thinking bout it. lol

Most of the questions are answered in the movie:
Dante is eaten
Gluttany is still alive in monster mode
abt the dragon, that is because envy is a shapeshifter
Ed gets his arms back in our world, but they are taken again when he returns.
Yes, I wish that Ed and Al would have stayed in their world...

but WHY is he a dragon? Why didn't he revert back later and stuff? It's like he was forced to be like that permanently! And if Pride was a regular Jewish Human, how the heck then does envy have special powers? They are BOTH Homunculi
PostPosted: Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:23 am

but all the humunculus did have special powers didnt they? (didnt nkow if this should be put in spoiler tags so i just went ahead and did it
)
wrath has alchemy, lust had the power to change her arms, envy had shapeshifting, sloth had water powers, gluttony had eating powers, greed had the power to be a human sheild and pride has some kind of power that allowed him to change the atmosphere or something like that. at least tahts what i thought he said
Pride has his super eye of actions that allows him to see stuff real good.
And I don't get how the homunculi use alchemy. I thought you needed a soul for that, or something.
The finale, IMO, was just not great. I tell you what would've added at least a little more depth to it...
Dante killed Ed and Al's mother. : P
Also,
Why the heck did Envy look like a young Hohenheim? Timeline-wise, Hohenheim would not have had that same body.
I really didn't get the Fullmetal Archer thing. I mean, WHY was that even in there? It had no point.
Now, how could anyone consider our world on the other side of the gate more "technologically advanced?" They have blimps? Yeah, the FMA world has automail and cyborgs (Archer). You cannot honestly expect me to believe our world is more advanced.
Also, the atomic bomb was created in the FMA world, and sent to ours. Now that's just random and silly.
Seems kinda like Winry got axed towards the end. I know all the fans wanted her and Ed to get married and have half-metal children or something like that.
Here's my basic take on the ending: They made you think it was good. Everything was all cinematic and pretty, and dramatic, and everything was there to get you caught up in the moment without really thinking about how ridiculous a lot of it was. I don't think the movie really adds a whole lot, either.

Watched it last night (taped from Saturday) for the first time. In this era of relaxed S&P at AS, I was a bit surprised they ran it with a TV-14, even with the extra disclaimer. I thought it was every bit as violent as some of the recent GitS and Eva episodes that have run with TV-MAs for violence. I'm sure it was for marketing purposes, since a lot of FMA's fan base is under 17 (which, IMO, shows a major inconsistency in the content ratings system, but that's for another topic...)
Anyway, back to the topic at hand... I thought it was a good ending. Maybe not great, but good, and probably one that would grow on me with a 2nd viewing. There were some questions left unanswered, but they certainly left it wide open for the movie. I agree with Rogie about the themes of self-sacrifice; they were very strong and stuck out as the high point of the episode.
