Two questions: one serious, one not

1) Am I the only one who's wondered "what if Sailor Uranus were straight...?"

2) Am I the only one out there who thinks there aren't enough anime plant-girls? :red:

Perhaps you'd better explain what you're getting at with #1, i.e., why ask that question particularly regarding her orientation?

Regarding number one, if Haruka were straight, Michiru would spend each episode trying desperately to seduce Haruka a la Pepe le Pew. Hilarity would ensue.

That is the most horrible mental image I've encountered all day.

I think someone has too much time on their hands if they go around pondering
#1.
As far as #2...uh does that mean Vash and Knives have a sister we never heard about?
My own question about Michiru is...Have you noticed how much like Qoun on RahXephon she looks like?I mean is this yet another case of Anime Separated At
Birth?

There are plenty of plant girls in anime. Probably half of the greenery drawn is female, it's just that there's little observable sexual dimorphism in vegetation. (translation: there are plenty of plant girls, we just can't tell they're girls.)

I thought that most plants had both "male" and "female" reproductive parts, at least that was my understanding from biology.

I think it depends on how complicated the plants are.The more complicated an organism the more likely that there would be sexual specialization, which is why
some flowers need bees and other creatures to pollinate them. Then again I'm not a scientist and especially not a botanist and it's been years since my last science class.(Ok decades but I read a lot.)
As far as Vash and Knives go,they were part of a special experiment in combining
human and plant DNA,if I remember correctly.I think it was supposed to see if such a combination would help humans settle deep space. Then again will have to rewatch that particuliar ep. when it comes back on Trigun.
Getting back to the first question:I don't think it really matters wheter or not a anime character is straight or gay or somewhere in between.I mean it's all fiction.

I didn't get anything like that out of the anime. I think they are called plants because of their production capabilities, not for botanical reasons.

Exactly, they weren't produced by humans, nor were they from Earth. They were discovered by the shuttle crew, who had no idea what they were. They were dubbed plants because of what CDL said. Rem actually thought they were angels.

It's been awhile since they showed that episode of Trigun,so all I remember was that Rem was responsible for their care.
Wheter or not the crew discovered them or they were created by humans one of the interesting things is that they apparently have a rather long life span since the series takes place several hundred years AFTER Knives causes the crash.
Note that Vash doesn't look to be older than his mid to late twenties even though he is really several hundreds years old.And also since we don't know their actual age they could be older still.

I know this is totally off topic, but another anime look-a-like would be Sai from Gundam Seed and Micheal from Witch Hunter Robin ^_^
