Black Cat

Seems like nobody made a thread about this. Anybody seen Black Cat? It's quite good, one of the better Shonen I've seen. Including some spiffy and original characters, and a unique animation style at some parts.

I haven't seen it, and I don't plan to. It's apparently not the lame Cowboy Bebop ripoff I initially thought it to be, but even so, once the definitive work on a certain subject has been done, everything afterwards just looks weaker by comparison. I realize that's not fair of me, but it's how I feel.

I've seen it (the manga of it) but haven't been able to read it yet...I want to check it out sometime though.

Well when I was watching it, it did have some animation similar to cowboy bebop. But it's no way a ripoff. Yes I can see some similarities, but I find Black Cat generally a better series than Cowboy Bebop.

Well, I only watched 8 episodes...
but I like the characters better. (Although nobody can really replace Radical Ed)

My friend LOVES it and got me to watch the first ep of it (the only ep she ever saw too^^) Might get into this one some... if anything thouhg, reminds me more of a Lupin 3/King of Bandits: Jing mix rather than Bebop (which I've only seen the movie of anyways^^)

My only knowledge of this comes from JSS (though I still find it odd you can play as Eve and not the main character; how important is Eve? O.o ).
I might check it... sometime.

Eve's pretty important. Black Cat/Train (his real name) isn't the only main character. As the story focuses on multiple ones.

I've seen... the first 10 episodes... I think. It's a slightly violent show (the manga's even worse from what I've seen) just to warn people. Personally I like it a lot. And I disliked Cowboy Bebop, so I really don't think they can be all that similar. Train may be a bounty hunter, but I don't think he gets many bounties collected since the main villian attacks him a lot.
If it wasn't already licensed I think this show could give Bleach a run for it's money, but now we'll have to wait and see. It's got plenty of action as well as well placed humor, so I think it's a show that lots of people would like.

I thought only the manga was licensed. I haven't heard anything about the anime being licensed, but eh. ^^ I've seen the first 6 episodes, and it's pretty interesting, but it doesn't top the greatness that is Bleach...of course my opinion may be a bit biased, considering how much I love Bleach. lol My only real complaint about Black Cat is Creed's freaky obsession with Train. That, and I think Creed's roses are radioactive; I mean no roses are all glowy red like that! ^^;

So does anyone know how many episodes this series is? A normal 26er? Or one of those ones that goes on for a really long time like Bleach?

I've been hearing that 52 are planned. We will see how this works. No reason to go on a long time as the manga has ended.

*cries like a fangirl* ;O I remember I followed this show avidly not too long ago on fansubs...ever since its gotten licensed, I wanted it to come out on TV. I really like this show, it goes under the 52+ ep. series category. The characters are awesome, and as far as I know, it's pretty clean, which is why I like it so much. And Sven...he is too cool. XD
The only thing that miffs is that one of the characters has a sword named Christ. +_+;;
And when that girl died? *clutches heart* That was awesome too. XD

Not in this case necessarily. Black Cat is Gonzo. Therefore, it is likely that Funimation has dibs on it, unless there is something that I don't know about.

It's done by Gonzo? Now I'm looking forward to it.

Anime News Network says there are 24 episodes (not that they haven't been wrong before) but maybe there will be a second season, who knows? It was licensed super quick so I'm sure they realize there is an interest in the series.
Am I the only one that really prefers Train's "Numbers outfit" to his wierd blue jacket thing with the huge button things (I think Sven called them "food rations?" lol, that part made me laugh so hard) on it ?
