Well after seeing Ash's pretty wallpaper for this series I decided I needed to check it out. And I must say wow! it is a geat series so far. They technically got a lot of stuff screwed up (like the fact that God gets power from beautiful souls :eyebrow: ) But still I like it. And it helps that Sinbad (and his alter ego) is a cutie!!

Seriously though, that would totally rock to jump off of buildings like she can. So has anyone else seen this series? And who is your favorite character? (I don't have a favorite yet)

First off Hi!

Second, I can't say I've seen this series, but I can't help but have my imagination perked. Can you post a link or something so I can see with my own three eyes?

God bless,
Archan

I didn't even know this series was available. I'm interested in watching it, after Ash has raved about it for so long! What is the animation like--is it a unique style?

Well since it is still unlicensed there aren't that many sites out there for it. (It's sort of an older series too, I don't know why a US company hasn't picked it up to license it, cause it is way cute! :dizzy: ) Which of course means that you can only get fansubs of it. I'll make some screen shots for you though, so you can see what it looks like.

Here are some of Sinbad. (And if you want to see more before I post the ones I make you can go to we love anime, cause they have a ton. :thumb: )

I haven't seen the anime, but the manga was pretty screwed up if it matters the Christian perspective.. It's on the same corrupted level as Angel Sanctuary in my opinion. It's not bad, but perhaps you'll like it if you're a hardcore shoujo fan.

Well I am not a hardcore shoujo fan but I like it. :thumb: I would agree though that this particular series has some serious issues spiritually. I don't think it would be appropriate for little kids because it would probably confuse them. For example the main female character is the "reincarniation" of Joan of Arc. The basic plot is that she has to seal deamons so that they can no longer corrupt humans. Because if people become corrupt and their is no "beautiful souls" left, then God will loose his power.

If you are mature enough to realize that these things are wrong though I would recommend it. :)

Yeah, I'm in the middle of the series (which is pathetic because I picked it up almost 6 months ago ). Basically, it's what MyrrhLynn said - fairly interesting story - messed up religious stuff. The art and character designs are awesome, but the animation isn't of any notable caliber. (But the whole diving off the building thing was pretty cool ;) )

So, if you're into huge eyes, (bigger than Tohru's even!) pretty boys who are perverts, monster of the week type story-line, Matrix-like religious melts, and a hybrid of St Tail and Sailor Moon, then check it out!

Well, guess I'll try not to hide how I really feel, huh? It's a pretty shallow story so far, and since I'm a huge St Tail fan (it's all Turbocat's fault!), it really bothers me to see how similar the basic plots are (St Tail came first if anyone was wondering :eyeroll: ). I'm not very fond of the tossed salad religion presentation either. And I really didn't like the cover. His hand ... just didn't need to be *there*.

But, it's a good "fluff" series. And it can be pretty funny. It's just too bad that with the artists and designers they had for the anime they couldn't get a good story to match it. Expect my official review of the series soon.

And if I have to pick a fav, it's Fin so far. :thumb:

Here's some pictures. See? The design is adorable and it almost makes you think there's a cool story behind it ... Oh well, guess it could have been worse. It could have had a lame story and lame art. But it was the art that drew me to the story in the first place. I have a wide anime taste range, and that range has a spot for magic girl series. And as magical girly as KKJ was .. it just fell short. *sighs*

But, here's a link to a generic review for it. This person sounded just as impressed as I was. http://www.digital.anime.org.uk/rjeanne.html

In all fairness, I have read a couple times that the manga is much better than the anime.

LOL...

So Joan Of Arc lives huh? Wow, that alone would have been enough to draw me into the series....but just by looking at the pics it already feels to Sugary for me (too cute for my blood), so I'll have to let it be.

Thanks for the heads up on the plot though...

God Bless,
Archan

Humm... well I have never read the manga or seen St. Tail so I can't really compare. I was sort of skipping around as I watched the episodes too so maybe that is why I like it. I admit the plot is VERY slow at the beginning, but once you start to learn about Maron's parents things start to get interesting.

Actually when you boil it down I think the reason I like it is because it is a great "girl power" series. Despite the way her name looks (and is pronounced) Maron isn't a moron. ;) She has plenty of smarts, guts, and athletic ability even when she isn't Jeanne. And for some reason I really like Sinbad. Even if he is a jerk some of the time. Add to this the fact that I cheated and read summaries so I know there is a major plot twist near the end. :thumb:

I want to take this chance to clear my name: I haven't ever seen KKJ, but I adore the art style. So, I've been DYING to see this series---if it's messed up, guys I really apologize. I've researched it a bit, and didn't think it was too bad. I think I'm going to buy myself the box set for Christmas, so I'll be sure to tell you guys then. Anyway, I felt really guilty when everyone mentioned my name in connexion with this, so I wanted to get that out in the open.

hehe I'm a big shoujo manga fan but pls bear with my thoughts on this on. I read the manga and I got terribly offended by the messed up spiritual truths.

I learnt something about myself. I can tolerate the lack of God's presence (occults, other religions etc.etc) but once a manga contains something completely untrue like "God is weak, God need beautiful souls" or whatever stuff that's completely unbiblical. I just can't stand such lies. If they didn't mention "God", I might have accepted it. That's my personal limit. Everyone to their own conviction.

I acknowledge that the art is super pretty and good. But I've stopped reading the manga and don't plan to watch the anime at all. :(

Ashley, don't worry, I never associated you with KKJ for some reason despite the avatar.

Well guys, I'm bumping this because I finally sat down and watched it. I wasn't too disappointed either; the story, the art, the plot...all excellent.

And then...the theology. Man, I was pretty shocked. At first I was willing to "forgive" the whole "God needs humans for energy!" thing...yeah it was twisted, but at least they didn't shove it at you (you have to realize, I was really looking forward to this show). I won't lie; it was definately wrong. And in the second season! Whoa! Queen's rant was sickening. Total garbage from the get-go.

But then it occured to me that this was all being spouted by a demon meant to hurt Maron. Of course they are going to take truth and twist it up like that; happens all the time all over the world. At that point I took it that the show wasn't really promoting that twisted view of things, but presenting it and using it as a plot tool. Still, it was twisting something sacred, and that's something everyone has to ask for themselves if they can handle or not. Whether you guys agree with that stance or not, I won't stop you. I'm just saying, that's what really saved it for me and that was my view on things. But I definately won't be handing this one out to anyone and everyone; definately not for the weak/unsaved.

I also penned a review, if anyone is interested.
