Came across this today when I was looking up all the new anime I'm anticipating on seeing (which, by chance, all start coming out in April... yay I'll be done my semister then! ^^)

And, well, I heard the Japanese .hack site would air GU anime episodes on it, but according to AnimeNfo, it says "TV" on it.... hmm...

Wait, either way having a SIGN sequel that means... YUKI'S BACK!!!! Hope the soundtrack's just as good^^ Then again, she didn't do Tasogare/Twilight... hm, let us hope :/

Either it's

a) 2 random letters

b) stands for somethign else

c) G-Unit's not just a clothing line/rapper thing anymore :/

And yeah, it's anime which is why it's in the anime section and has the word "anime" in the topic. There is a game coming out this year in North America though and dunno if it'll be like Limanality or if it's basically an anime version of the game (although I doubt that).

the "online episodes" I think refer to the Legend of the World and .Hack Digest clips at http://www.hack.channel.or.jp/ which are all recaps of SIGN, Liminality and the four games. Moonphase does list .Hack//G.U for "2006" though, so more news might come out closer to May when Vol.1 is released.

I think on one of the interviews of the .//hack desingers for G.U. (supposedly it overall means grow up but takes other meanings as you move along) mentioned something about another anime. I think the comment was something along the lines of, the new .//hack game and anime will be out sometime in 06.

Yeah I just read that on ANN... Oy yet ANOTHER anime I have to look out for in April -_-' (This makes 6 total!!) Just the start of a new television and school season (I do believe) in Japan...

*hopes fansubbers will be up to subbing all of them^^* I don't see why not though...

Back to ROOTS though I wonder where this'll take place in the .hack universe? I'm assuming from it's name that it'll be near the beginning to when the game was made (hence the name "roots"). I'm guessing maybe even before AI Buster. *hopes .hack//ZERO will be licensed by Tokyopop soon!* Don't knwo why they don't. They have the new series that's a retelling of the game.

Found some info on it: http://www.dothackers.net/guanime.php

Twilight's were just really chibi^^ I like this sort of "dark" look to the GU/ROOTS thing.

But hmmm says ROOTS takes place after the orginal The World is destroyed and the new verson is made... I'm guessing GU explains what happens and takes place at the end of the first version?

there's really nothing to say about how The World fell, there was a fire in the primary data center. //G.U is set after The World R:2's user base surpassed 12 million, which probably didnt take that long given the apparent lack of any competition from the first iteration of The World

This fire would explain why we wont see returning characters like balmung and such.....

Anyways I am so glad the got whoever it was that did .//hack sign back because lottb's music was screaching on a chalkboard compared to the wonder that was signs music. (I dont really like lottb much anyways due to how....vagrantly....they disregard any elements or rules set down by the previous anime and the games. For most .//hack fans I know lottb shouldnt exist except for ouka and sanjuro (of course balmung but he has been in EVERYTHING except probably the upcoming ones)).

On a side note it seems the anime and the games cover the same subject matter, I had really hoped this wasnt the case and we would have prequil then the main event as a game. Why I say it isn't a prequil is that it seems, in the game, you play as armored haseo for a little while and probably do a few feilds as "tutorial" levels. much like being a lvl 1-2 in a lvl2 dungeon with a lvl 40 tagging along in infection.

The anime seems to happen with the weaker form of haseo. This would be after the introduction that is probably in the game (we know he is full armor at least a little bit of it).

So this bums me out mainly because I will definetly miss the sign to games "oh man That is why that happened! Oh it makes sense now" and the bridging trilogy feel of it all. Still could happen, but still....

The music was oy... I liked ther opening "New World" only for a short time then I was like "...why am I still listenign to this?" The one song I still like off there featured in only one ep and it's called "Dawn".

And well if you didn't like the anime, check out the manga^^ There's other familiar characters in there and it REALLY ties in other stories like AI Buster (Alberio's involved a tiny bit in it), the Liminality characters are mentioned, AND in this one you even see Wiseman make an appearance! I liked it much better^^

I would imagine the manga would be better, but still I dont like the idea that (if it follows the anime) the previous story is fodder for them to twist as they want. So much stuff happened that shouldnt have in lottb.

Twisting how so? The manga version actually has a COMPLETELY different plotline. That AI Morte (or whatever she was called... French for "death") doesn't appear in the thing at all :/ It's actually about Aurora's child and how Shugo and the gang are trying to find her mom.

Oh? I think I will go look into it. The whole morte/virus/kids causing stuff/chibi everything/plotholes galor of the anime made me rather mad, but now that you say that I may just have to go look into the manga.

edit

Might not have made myself clear the post earlier, it was ment to say "hey it is probably better but if it is anything like the anime I wont like it"

The manga only follows the anime through the first volume, so things like Balmung's odd events still happen (chery blossom event, the race to save the princess that turns out to be Rena...) And from then on, it takes a turn in vol. 2.

At the end of the manga, they did a huge thing up saying it was "the end" and all that (end of manga, yes but doubt anyone was expecting another series after that). Then it makes sense: the end of The World ver. 1 chapter, and into the ver. 2 chapter (just when will The World end?! If a fire didn't kill it, what can?) I can almost see it going apocalyptical for the GRAND ending... whenever that'll be.

You all will want to check out the dot hack info center link I posted. On the main part of their site they put up new info about the games/anime.

So, wait for DVD, or watch fansubs? Anyone know how long it takes before first DVD coming (do they send it on American TV channels before it comes to DVD?)? :P

If you're lucky, it might be licensed and put to DVD in time next year sometimes. :/ And it depends... usually a show is on DVD and then tv I think it goes.
