From Feb Anime Insider, in progress, anime to live action Hollywood style.
Evangelion
Kiki's Delivery Service (Disney)
Battle Angel (James Cameron)
Parasyte
Dragon Ball Z ( I have already seen someone try that)
Astro Boy (Sony)

Possibles
Witch Hunter Robin (SciFi Channel)

If They Made a Live Action By AI
Love Hina
Naru = Lindsay Lohan
Kitsune = Claire Danes
Motoko= Zhang Ziyi
Shinobu= Alexis Bledel
Su= Shefali Chowdhury

My Idea Of Anime to Live Action
Gunsmith Cats
Rally Vincent= Jessica Alba I had thought of when she stared in Dark Angel because she looked like she could play that part then.
I have had told to me when I brought it up who could play the part
Mila Kunis (Jackie) from That 70s Show.
The other charactors of Gunsmith Cats to match with Hollywood stars I have had a time matching up.
Anyone else have ideas for anime to live action or stars to play parts?

Witch Hunter Robin (SciFi Channel)

Doesn't even look like this thing even took off the ground. Scifi Channel will not say anything on if they still plan on doing this or not.

If They Made a Live Action By AI
Love Hina
Naru = Lindsay Lohan

Just having her name in movie will make me not go see it.

The idea of a good Dragonball Z live action movie has been tossed around anime circles for some time now. I've been waiting since I got into DBZ (seven years ago :lol: ) and still haven't seen anything substantial come of it.

More recently I've been really wishing for a live action movie of Antique Bakery. I think it would make a beautiful movie. I discovered via searching online that there is a Japanese live action of it, but the synopsis suggests that they strayed quite far from the original story line.

As far as choosing roles go, for the most part I tend to choose nobodies or newbies. It's a great way for new faces to break into the business, its easier to match looks and voices, and big-names don't have to have that fear of "being typecast" that causes sloppy acting or lack of promotion for the movie.

If SciFi channel were to actually do that, it would probably get a good amount of viewership. I wonder why they aren't doing it? I think a Kenshin movie would be cool. Not necessarily a TV show, but I could definitely see them doing a good Kenshin movie.

I've already seen pictures of Sailor Moon live action show. My friends own the DVD of Initial D with Jay Chou (Chinese singer) starring as Takumi. I heard it was poorly done. But looking at the cover, Jay Chou did seem to fit the part since they both look....dull? Like they're always bored. If you've seen Initial D you'd know~ haha

I think DBZ would be way too hard to do. Flying Z-fighters that teleport, use sorts of energy ki beams, scream for half the episodes while trying to turn their hair yellow...getting all bloody while beating each up in the air one opponent trying to destroy the entire Earth while other is trying to save it....

Okay I'm getting carried away~ But you see? ^^;

I don't think it'd be too HARD to do. They would just need to choose one saga to work with, and then work more carefully with special effects than they usually do.

However, that latter part requires tons of MONEY, something most production companies won't put out for a cartoon-comic-to-movie title.

Not so much poorly done as it was a program for the young girls of the 4-8 year old bracket. I saw a few fansubs of it. Basically it's Power Rangers quality.

Interestingly, in Japan, it's considered a real step up when your program goes to live action from anime. Anime is watched by kids and "no life losers" according to the Japanese stereotype, but live action is actually reaching the mainstream.

"You're Under Arrest" was one of the recent ones, and the author was totally thrilled. The final episode of the live action version of GTO (HIGHLY recommended series btw) set a viewership record in Japan.

Some of the programs can be good quality over there. I'll plug my favorite series, Shomuni, which is a great comedy

In general, it strikes me as a rather bad idea for multiple reasons. Frankly, I would just prefer to leave them as animated series.

Another title that was just mentioned: Kite. Some Mexican directors are doing it apparently so it IS going through. Also apparently, a live version called "La Femme Nikita" was already made of it :/
...knowing the movie has a regular version and also an H version ...hopefully it won't be the second version :/ Don't know too much on the show itself. Only seen the trailer on my Magic Knight Rayearth DVDs.

The only thing I can think of why Witch Hunter Robin is currently in limbo on Sci Fi is because they're using all their resources for the new Battlestar Galactica.Plus don't forget that the new Doctor Who is also coming in March so if they do get around to doing it it will be awhile yet.

You know, I think it'd be kinda cool to have a live-action version of Matantei Loki Ragnarok that falls somewhere in the vein of the live-action Sailor Moon. XD Except minus the really weird looking puppet mascot. Ecchan's just too cool for that.

La Femme Nikita predated Kite by several years, and there are several movies in different countries of this content that also predated 1998's Kite.

Also the H version IS the actual anime. The 16+ version is the pornographic anime with the sex scenes removed

I hear Death Note is getting a live action movie as well. 2, in fact.

Evangelion
Kiki's Delivery Service (Disney)
Battle Angel (James Cameron)
Parasyte
Dragon Ball Z ( I have already seen someone try that)
Astro Boy (Sony)

I can see Evangelion working, somehow...

Kiki's Delivery serive could work as well, if it's in theaters. If not, you can be sure it'll be crap. :p

Astro Boy... I dunno. It seems kinda... wrong? :/

Weeeell that's in Japan so doesn't really count for this :/ Knowing there's already been a few JPN Lupin movies (one has already been licensed and coming on DVD soon, so Right Stuf says) and even a Saikano movie has been made in Japan :/ There's a couple others, but using a couple examples...

To add to the list an ENGLISH Lupin movie was rumored to be out... who knows now. Well, still that DVD for sale :/

I think that I read something awhile back that said that someone was planning to make a Cyborg 009 movie. I suppose that one could work if done right.

Ya know, Cowboy Bebop could make an interesting one (if done right, of course...).

The thing about doing live action movies though is that you get so used to the VAs voice coming out of the character that when someone else does it it would sound kinda weird(and I include both the original Japanese and North American casts).
Then there is the question as to who would play whom.

I'd like to see Cyborg 009, Maison Ikkoku, and Whisper of the Heart as live-action.

there is a Maison Ikkoku live movie made in 1986 that reportedly bombed. CDJapan used to sell it unsubbed, but no longer can be found on their site.

They did just come out with a live action Cromartie High I might pick up since it's subbed.

I could totally see Cyborg 009 being live-action, but I doubt it would happen because it's a bit of an older series.

Hey, so was stuff like Flinstones and Scooby-Doo here, and plenty of those got their own live-action films.

Cromartie is airing on AU currently.I find it hard to think of how they could make such a weird anime into a live action movie.
