Hey good call, NetFlix has a wealth of anime!

Actually, that's how I saw Millenium Actress... and yes, that was an excellent movie. Very emotional, it was... yes....

It was really good. If given the chance, I would watch it again.
The animation was BEEEUUUtiful, I say. The plot was great, but I had to watch the movie twice before I really understood it.

I wasn't a huge fan of it actually. The animation was good, as well as the music. The story/plot was decent, but the way the story was presented was very distracting to me, took away a lot from the story. I would rate it 2.5 / 4.0 - above average, worth seeing once, but not a must see.

I loved it! I rented it from Blockbuster last year, as one of the decent anime they have there. I thought it was cool how it was basically the same story through history into the future.

I bought it not quite a year ago, I think. Yes, it is very good -- but also very sad. Poor Chiyoko... ;__;

Yeah, this was a great movie! For me, it seemed like a celebration of life itself. I thought it was very beautiful, and one of the few animes I've watched that I felt could actually happen in real life (along with Maisson Ikkoku)

Fwaaaah, I saw this today. :D It was SO good!! At first, I found it a little confusing, since her life story is mirrored by her movies, and they kept switching scenes really quickly..XD I kept thinking, "Are we in the real part of her life now, or one of her movies?" But other than that, I thought it was great!! I loved the music (especially the last song), the animation was breathtaking, and the storyline was really wonderful! After I watched the movie, I saw the making of it, and there's so much interesting symbolism in it. For instance, they put in a lot of wood in the background that had the age rings in it to show how she was aging and growing up as the story progressed. There was more symbolism too, but I can't think of it right now...Anyways, I loved it!!

Oh, and by the way...What else has Satoshi Kon done besides this, Perfect Blue, and Tokyo Godfathers? That name is so familiar...

Paranoia Agent, if I'm not mistaken.

I really loved the movie. It's fabulous. The only think I thought it lacked was a clear message. The final line made it seem that she didn't really love the guy-- she loved hunting after him. Which I suppose would have been a clear message but a sad one.

I've found that this was a movie that grew on me. When I watched it yesterday, I liked it, and I liked it more and more as the day went on. XD Today, it really just sort of hit me, and I kept telling all my friends, "You've GOT to see Millennium Actress!! It's wonderful!!" XD It really is a very good movie, and it's better once you give it enough time to sink in, so you've had time to think it over again. Anyways, I'd watch it several more times, if not just to get a better grasp on all of the things that happen! :D

That's correct, it was his first TV series. Satoshi Kon is quickly becoming one of my favorite anime directors. I haven't seen Millenium Actress yet, but it's on the list. I bought Perfect Blue a while back and loved it.

Also, it's probably a good idea to point out that most of his work is not family/child friendly, for those CAA members who aren't comfortable with more risky titles.
