4kids loses Pokemon licence?

foun this article on anime news network

I only ask one thing of Pokemon USA. PLEASE, don't ditch the CPM dub studio! It would really suck if all the dub voice actors changed so late in the series. From a buisness standpoint it would probably be a bad choice anyway, it might turn off a portion of the audience. One great thing that might result from this is that Funi might get the distribution rights to the show, and then the chances of FINALY getting an uncut japanese subbed version will rise considerably.

more information, from Bulbagarden. Seems like fears of a dub cast change have been put to rest, for the moment.

Yeah I read that on ANN. It wasn't so much I was happy that Pokemon isn't by 4Kids, but that 4Kids has one less anime to be >_< with. Even if they did release 3 eps of uncut anime per disk for YuGiOh/Shamen King...
Now, if only Disney who make billingual Miyazaki movies would release some nice hybrid Digimon boxsets...

interesting.. maybe 4kids is gonna lose more liscenses if they don't dub better ><
but it would stink if they changed voices in the middle of a series...

Funimation dubbed DBZ and Dragon Ball. 4kids still has the One Piece dub licence, anime news network announed recently that it's going to start airing again.

Was this even related to the discussion at all? I don't think so. Looks to me like you're purposely going out of the way to stir up a ridiculous argument. Well, you got your wish. Here you go.

Yeah, I remember reading about the electric mouse demon in the Bible. That was a scary demon. :eyeroll:

I am not a huge pokemon fan, so I am not concerned about its fate. But if 4kids lost pokemon, could that mean that they are takeing on another anime series to replace it? If so, I think it would be better if they just kept pokemon.

Oh, and pardon me if I am wrong, but this doesnt seem like the right place to be arguing the demonosity of Pokemon...

I think I will point out that this didn't happen because of anything 4kids did. This isn't punishment for doing a poor job or something, Pokemon USA just decided to take all the licences in house. So it's probably not likely that 4kids will lose the rights to any other series.

Training kids in witchcraft? Violent behavior? Anti-Christian attitudes?
Well, this is bizarre, considering that The Vatican has given it's official blessing to Pokemon for teaching such great moral values. Oh wait, that means...that THE most prominent Christian EVER has said Pokemon is GOOD! Wow. Imagine that.

In the cartoon you have three kids on a journey, learning about life, themselves and how to properly care for their Pokemon (read : pets) without treating them as possessions. In the movie, an evil Pokemon who has been mistreated learns from the love of other Pokemon for a fallen human that he has misjudged humanity. Rather than being beaten into submission like a million billion action movies, the bad guy actually learns that he was wrong and changes his ways. The books? Based on the animated series, they're all the same, learning valuable life lessons.

And finally, the video game! THE VIDEO GAME! You're a squarey looking character wandering about almost aimlessly, picking up wild Pokemon and training them, naming them and even befriending them. Ooooh, watch out, it's a coven of 12 year olds who are looking for pets to care for in the appropriate manner!

Yeah, certainly demonic and harmful [/sarcasm]

Fact of the matter is, they're not demons. But this is besides the point.

Agreed! Include the Digimon part! I want my stinking boxset! If I had to to get them, I'd settle for just engish though.

Huzzah! Pokemon is free from the evil 4kids!!
