IT'S OVER! CANCELLED! GONE!!!
4KIDS CANCELLED "ONE PIECE" ON SATURDAY!
It may continue on Toonami, however, which is a
very good thing. Here's hoping they lose it there, too, and someone else manages to pick it up.

I doubt they would drop it from Toonami right in a middle of a storyline although
stranger things have happened.Hopefully they would go to the uncut version now.
You never know though. So stand by to see what happens next.
The better news is that they also dropped Mew Mew Power.
Now if we could only get some really quality anime to replace them with.

Well, it's not
completely told yet if they've dropped it, but there schedule
has been rearranged, with One Piece and Mew Mew no where to be found. This could be temporary or permanent, but it'll be about three weeks from what I've heard before the truth can be told.
As for it being on CN, they'll probably continue it for awhile, at least till where they "ended" on 4Kids (if this indeed true). Then we just need 4Kids to drop the licencse altogether and it will be a happy, happy day!

I know for some anime they either didn't had specials or something being aired (I think Digimon was replaced on Fox way back when with football games or something) and well, maybe they haven't finished dubbing eps to air up until then :/ Look how long it took to dub new Sailor Moon eps! 4 years or so was it? Yeah... using that as an example :/

Personally, I'm going to wait for official confirmation of some sort.
They could just be taking a temporary break. But I suppose that we will see.

I suppose this is good. I really don't want to watch it on Saturdays, but my schedule is such that I end up doing so. That isn't possible if it isn't there.

It won't be so good if they don't make anymore episodes. Or is nothing better than something?
I personally liked Mew Mew Power. If the dub was bad, well at least it was beng aired.

They may simply have put them on hiatus for now until the rest of the episodes
are dubbed if there are any more.

*sigh*
That's what it seems like. Hopefully, if they are still airing, they'll end after Alabasta/have someone else take the rights and redo this crap.
Seriously, you think they've gotten only very slightly better now, since they do stuff like having guns (even if they are painted green), then you see another episode, hear the puns/bad writing/Sanji and Usopp's voice and decide you want to kill them all over again...

A question... are all those puns in the original? They're pain-inducing, but I would believe they might actually be in the original, if not for the fact that I've never seen anything of the sort in the manga.

No. I've seen the first ten subbed and heard enough from others on the Arlong Park forums to know they don't exist. One Piece had a more natural humor (caused by the stupidity of nearly ALL the characters).
The only "pun" moments had to do with Aokiji, I believe, who really did say phrases with stuff like "freeze" and "cool" in them.

Why are you happy that it's been cut, Myoti? Thought you were a fan...

Of the original, yes. Of the crap 4Kid$ tries to call the same show, no. They remove and butcher it far to much to be called the same show.
And most fans you ask will say the same. 4Kid$ is downright evil.

Actually, I am sure the distribution rights that 4Kids has in it's hands will last for many years. Even if they drop the show all together, nobody else can do anything with it until that runs out. And if they were to drop the rights at this moment, if I remember correctly, the show was out there a long time before they picked it up because of the high series cost when no one else would. Chances are, even now it is doubtful another company would pick it up because of the price range for this title. It seems that I recently saw the distribution rights given to a toy company for One Piece merchandise. It that is the case I highly doubt 4Kids is going to drop it entirely. More than likely it will continue to run at least on CN for quite awhile.

Yeah, it appears that way... -_-
Darn you 4Kids. You ruined my celebration...

One wonders what would it have been like if Ocean Studios had done the dub in
conjunction with VIZ instead of 4kids doing it.Or maybe FuNimation.

It would be really hard to tell. Puns are very culturally and linguistically based. Most Japanese puns will fly over the heads of an American audience reading subtitles.
It's possible puns are there and we just wouldn't realize it.

That's why when they do the dub they have to change some of the wording because
otherwise some of the concepts and ideas get lost on the audience.
