Blue Gender is definately R rated material... So, not that one... I dont' know about gundam, except that the Cartoon Network version is one you likely woulnd't find offensive. The idea that every anime has nudity is beyond laughable, though it could be frustrating if you don't know what you're looking for.

Demons... Well, the Japanese words that get translated as demon don't mean literal demons but sentient and powerfull beasts or human-like creatures in their mythology. I wouldn't worry about that in most cases. If you are opposed to all mythology (so, greek and roman would be out too) then, well, Mythology is big in japanese culture... You're going to find a lot of it. Very few anime have demons in the Christian sense, though.

"Something offensive" is pretty broad, but for two wholly inoffensive anime titles, try "Grave of the Fireflies" (but it is very sad, and could be depressing) and Piano. I know there are more, but those are the ones I can think of right now... Also, Rumiko Takahashi anthology can be taken episode by episode. One episode in disc one
seems to be about something sexual, but it really isn't
and the rest of disc one is completely inoffensive. Disc two has one rather dark episode (about family suicide) but is otherwise completely clean. I haven't checked out the rest of the discs yet.

Another one that I think is pretty safe, though you may want to check with Melody Maker on the specifics, is Hamtaro, though that is definately a kids show... If you can get past that, it's clean as a whistle, and I don't think there's anything supernatural in it.

Oh, and the orginal gundam UNCUT does have nudity in it. That's why you can get the TV version (Cartoon Network's Toonami) because they cut that out... Gundam wing doesn't have any nudity uncut, but there is suggestion of other things you may find offensive with it.

Rurouni Kenshin sounds good for you, if you don't mind violence. Of couse, "something offensive" might be taken in a lot of ways. Doraemon, perhaps?

Rurouni Kenshin would probably be a good start, although personally I can't recommend Seed at all. The original Gundam is okay for its time, but is starting to show its age rather badly.

Trigun might be a good idea.

violence really doesn't bother me at all, but demons in the sense like ninja scroll or revenge of jubei kind of thing yeah. nudity i just can't deal with. cussing, violence, all that stuff doesn't seem to bother me, but nudity is a weakness for me, so i have to avoid it at all costs. it just seems like every anime is showing panties, or boobs, or nudity, or something innappropriately and uselessly, and distastefully sexual. mythology doesn't bother me, depending on what it is, but if it is bashing Jesus and the Bible, and putting down my faith, then i want nothing to do with that. hope that clears things up just a bit. thanks for your suggestions. i love giant robot animes by the way, and samurai stuff, comedy is cool too. my favs are giant robots and feudal japan stuff!

Trigun has spiritual / weird elements to it; Remember Legato?
he can take control of people's bodies and make them do things they dont want to
I stopped watching it after he was introduced.

An anime that doesn't have demons or nudity (from memory) is Haibane Renmei. It does, however, contain a subtle theme of reincarnation, esp with
the crow/raven/bird... whatever type it is
There are also subtle themes of suicide, and the issue of sin and being sin bound is discussed alot. However, I enjoyed it and I am usually very sensitive to such things.

O, and the first episode has a fair bit of blood cause her wings sprout, but you can easily fast forward that part.

You seem pretty naive about anime and seem to be have only watched the more 'adult' ones. I know many anime that don't have nudity, demons or anything like that. Noir, Last Exile, Metropolis, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa - are some examples.

i can tell you that from my experience for the most part all the gundam series are safe, rurouni kenshin is really good, something else to consider is looking in your local bookstore (like books a million or barnes and noble) and see if there's a manga for a series you're interested in, many times there is and you can read enough of the manga to get an idea of what the anime will be like, and chances are, if it's that bad, and there is a manga for it, it'll either be shrinkwrapped on the store shelf, or it won't be present at all 'cus let's face it, that stuff's just not going to be as popular as the more mainstream manga stuff

not to be mean or anything, but i am not looking for opinions, just a list of safe animes that aren't real kiddy like hamtaro or digimon, sorry hamtaro fans. i like my anime a little more serious. i appreciate everyones opinions about how ignorant i am to anime, but these are my personal convictions, and i am struggling to find anime that i can still watch, so lists and titles would be great! thanks!

I disagree. Granted, I was highly disappointed that I wouldn't see the end, but following the Holy Spirit's prompting won't leave you short-changed :thumb:

That's fine matie :thumb: Btw, when you say that you dont want opinions... are you referring to our opinions of the anime shows themselves or us putting up any objectionable content within the shows? We can't exactly put up lists, cause we dont know exactly what you find offensive (nudity and violence and such are very broad terms), so the best thing we can do is provide a detailed explanation of the show so you can decide whether it has anything within it that you find offensive that we dont, or visa versa.

don't put her down guys ^^; Personal conviction, Romans 14 and all that.

Might I suggest Fullmetal Alchemist? Its awesome.. Last Exile, Trigun, Haibane Renmei (it starts out slow, but its really good... I've cried both times I've watched the ending), and Rurouni Kenshin are all good too.

You like giant robot stuff? Might I suggest Giant Robo? It's not anti-God, no nudity (although the young lady has an uber-short skirt, it never shows her underwear or anything).

It's clean, although violent. It's also short (only thre DVDs long).

You might check it out, if you can stand serious things with sad endings.

There is a review on this site, in the anime review section, if you want to look at that. :thumb:

azumanga daioh is pretty safe. i'd recommend going into the "anime review" section on this site and judge from there what animes to watch and what ones to avoid. the reviews will tell you exactly why they're rated the way they are, and you can find an anime that doesnt cross the line of your convictions.

Naruto has demons...and Spirited Away has spirits...

Try Rurouni Kenshin. It's not "fantasy" so there aren't supernatural beings (including gods)...some near-nudity like shoulders and bare-chested men at the hot tub scenes but it's an extremely clean series.

I'd also recommend Wolf's Rain. You can read my review here:

As for...
I disagree. Granted, I was highly disappointed that I wouldn't see the end, but following the Holy Spirit's prompting won't leave you short-changed

Legato's not a demon. He had superpowers, that's all--nothing worse than what you'd find in a comic book. I actually recommend Trigun.

Giant Robo, as Alice said.

Now and Then, Here and There. It's a rather dark series, the fact that the main characters are children notwithstanding. If you can put up with the violence (It's not gory, but really intense, the whole series is) I'd say go for it. Great story.

Heat Guy J. One of the cleanest non-kiddy animes I've seen. The main villain is referred to as a vampire, but it's only a title. I'm making a review for this soon.

Giant Robo is a great show. Clean and very recommended.

Last Exile is good. Clean, but not the best of the best to start with (IMO)

Rurouni Kenshin is fantastic!! Highly recommended!! There's a wee little bit of fanservice near the end of the series in only one ep, but it's not that bad.

Gundam 0080 is the best gundam series to start with, I think. Clean and strong message.

(note: when I say clean, I mean to bparkerson04's personal preferences)

Guys! My word. Let the girl be. If she was convicted over it...thats not somthing that should be debated. Drop it with the Trigun already.

Ok, if you don't want to watch any Anime's without nudity, Demons, etc ( although InuYasha doesn't have demons, since the translation was screwed up in the dubbing, beasts are still beasts though, it depends on your take on it).

Anyways, enough about opinions, here's some good hard core animes

1.Rurouni Kenshin (has to do with samurai's in feudal Japan, no Youkai or Omni(mythology))
2. Full Metal Alchemist

3. Last Exile

4. Trigun(some Christian based symbolism, not a whole lot though, it would take time for you to notice if you can easily search for themes, metaphors, etc.)

5. Giant Robo

I'm glad that somebody mentioned Now And Then, Here And There. I don't know quite how well it would sit with you but you might want to check Witch Hunter Robin out. There's no nudity at all and suprisingly there's barely any "dirty" outfits. It does deal with witches but it's not quite what you'd expect.

Rurouni Kenshin is squeaky clean.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the wind (Movie)
Grave of the fireflies (sad movie)
Jin-Roh (another movie)
If I remeber correctly, the Read or die OVA was clean. The TV series was good, but skip episode 9 (nudity).
Metropolis (movie)
Last Exile
Scryed

Then you have a few fantasy animes with monsters. Do these bother you? If not you might want to try:

Final Fantasy Unlimited has monsters (typical FF stuff), but not much else
Twelve kingdoms has a few strange beasts (haven't seen all of it though so you might need a second opinion on this one)

I think all of them have reviews on this site. Check them out, that's what they're there for.

And you are not the only one struggling with this kind of thing. I think we all are. We like anime, but we love God more. Hope you find something that you can watch.

Yeah, I'd have to agree.

Final Fantasy is pretty clean all in all, it just depends on your take on it.

You've already gotten a lot of suggestions, but might I make a few?

Full Metal Alchemist is good. No nudity, no demons, althought there are a few immodestly dressed characters. Only two, or three really though.

The Gundam animes are good too. Though, I've only seen a few of them, and parts of others, what I have seen has been clean. And they're normally very serious, so that covers that.

And, from what I've seen of Rurouni Kenshin is good. Only, you might have a problem with all the budda statues and idol worship. I don't know, I don't think its a main factor, but I can't say for sure for I've only see four episodses max.

Trigun is okay. I had some problems with Vash's un-appropriate love for women. Its not in there that much, but its still there. And there is nudity in the one episode, but nothing is shown. Also, two of the characters sleep with each other outside of marriage.

Scryed would be good to. You may have problems with it, may not. I don't know, give it a try and see what you think. There's no nudity, no demons.

Wolf's Rain... no. It has nudity. Given, its only in two episodes, and its conveniently covered, but there is a full-body shot of a woman in the nude. Her hair covers important parts, but poorly and a lot of skin still shows.

Inuyasha, Tenchi Muyo, and Outlaw Star are out for you. They all have nudity, though in the dubbed versions of Outlaw Star and Tenchi it was dubbed out.

That's all I can think of... sorry, its what's already been recomended to you, but hopefully I cleared something up for you.

OH! You might not want to watch Cowboy Bebop either. I don't think it has any nudity, but one of the main characters is very immodest, and theres a lot of fan service crap in it. Well, not in excess, but every episode Faye is in is fan servicey, despite what they might be doing at the time.
