I was curious if anyone here has seen this anime and/or what their opinions of it were.

It recently was dubbed in English and has started to air in a heavily butchered version called Knights of the Zodiac on Cartoon Network. ADV is releasing the uncut version, and Viz is fixing to release the manga as a Shonen Jump graphic novel. It was I believe very popular in Japan and other countries where it aired.

Thoughts or opinions on this series, anyone?

This is a very rare example of the anime being much better than the manga--art-wise. Been into Saint Seiya since 4th grade I believe back in Indo. And lately, the new Hades Chapter got me back on track with the plot (that was cut short in Indo).

I like the action and the undoubtly classic shonen traits. Throw in a couple of bishonen and I'm hooked. Although the sometimes embarassingly corny attacks make me cringe LOL!! XD

Saint Seiya is a great example of classic shonen anime--which means friendship, combat, and VICTORY!! XD

I'm staying away from the butchered version though--I'm alergic to butchered dubs....

How violent is it exactly?

I am curious as The Parents Guide to Anime rated it M which seems a bit strange to me.

Violence.... definitely much milder than anime THESE days. Though the implied violence I would put it on a scale similar to DBZ--with slightly more blood and less LESS comedy.

You don't have messy mutilations or splurting blood or even bad language (just the usual shonen curses), so I personally would just recommend it to 13+ teens.

Hi, in Italy, this is one of the most favorite anime. Was firstly on tv 14 years ago, and a few of years ago they put again on screen.

I think that is not very violent, because of course there are fighting, but not so many violence. I mean, the violence, is always motivated. And is not only boom boom, and fight, it have also a lot of intersting and deep dialogue also during the fighting

Wow, this thread is from a year ago! XD

One other thing is that SS is the epitome of 'manly man' anime. I mean, when someone blasts at you, the obvious thing to do is dodge. But in Saint Seiya it's more 'manly' to stay and block then creep your opponent out by still standing even after, "The Ultimate Attack!! Impossible!!" XD

Saint Seiya aka Knights of the Zodaic was one of the Friday night animes that got canceled when CN went to their current Friday Nights kid theme.
The others that were canceled were:Rorouni Kenshin and .hack//sign.
They were replaced by Johnny Bravo...BOOOO! :shady:
and Duck Dodgers.
Though on the bright side of things CN did decide to air .hack//legend and
bring back Cyborg 009. :thumb:

This is quite the gravedigging... we do frown upon such here. If you would all be so kind as to check the date of threads before posting, we would much appreciate it. With that, I will give my own, limited opinion. I would sum up my impression of the series in a single phrase: more drawn out than Dragonball.
