Seeking good anime series

Hello,

I have been looking for some good anime for some time now. But I don't have enough time to read the reviews, so was hoping you could help me out. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for an anime series that:

- has a good story
- has its primary theme as love / romance / relationships
- has some comedy
- is either in modern day or futuristic setting (preferred is modern day setting)
- is preferrably not too long in episode length (I guess no more than 30 episodes).

- DOES NOT have sex
- DOES NOT have nudity

- Can have violence provided the context can justify it (i.e. not violence for violence's sake)
- Can have mild cursing (but not preferred)

I just can't seem to find anything in the shops that fits the bill. I know of Gundam Seed, but not sure if that is what I'm looking for .. and also I will probably get the set in one go when they are all released because it's cheaper that way.

Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thank you! :)

Marmalade Boy might be a good one.

I was going to suggest Kare Kano, until I saw the line about sex. It only has one incidence and it doesn't show any nudity. But anyway...*thinks for a moment* I can't think of any that on't have fanservice or something like that ^_^. Wait! Ah My Goddess!!!! It's really good and it doesn't have any sex and minimal fanservice, at least in the OVAs and movie. Volume 1 of the TV series just came out here too. Also, there are a lot of shows that don't primarily focuse on romance that still have really strong romance components, like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, but they are kind of long.

G Gundam (seen every episode, NO sex whatsoever! there is some romance, but mostly it's a mecha story)

Saint Tail(cute does not begin to describe this series of sugariness, lotta clean romance)

Princess Nine

Haven't seen all of Nadesico, but I don't THINK it's that bad. They do have a few jokes, though.

Princess Tutu. But, you know...it's about ballet. But I totally loved it. It's a fairy tale fantasy. ^^

Piano: The Melody Of A Young Girl's Heart. Very nice 13 episode coming of age series.

I was going to say Inuyasha but it does have some blood.
Crest of the Stars is a good one, although there is the bath scene in one
ep.Also Banner of the Stars. :thumb:
If you don't like series that can be a bit surreal at times you could try
Betterman.
On the other hand Geneshaft would be good, although there are some
scenes of violence and blood in it.

I am ok with blood. Thanks. :)

Rocket Shipper - I understand that it's hard to find a series without any fanservice, so thanks for mentioning Kare Kano anyway.

I should now probably google for all the mentioned titles so far and read some reviews and make a decision.

Thanks again!

Hi all,

I ended up buying the DVD set "His and Her circumstances." I'm not sure if this is the "Kare Kano" that Rocketshipper suggested. There is one shower scene in which the girl reflects on some issue. But it only showed her face, shoulders, and knees, so I would hardly consider that fanservice let alone an example of nudity.

I did try to read some other reviews, but personally the story just didn't catch my attention (apart from the fact that the other titles didn't seem to be available at the DVD shops I visited in the city - even 'His and Her Circumstances' was only available at once place).

Anyway, thanks again for your help. :)

That's a tall order you're asking. The Full Metal Panic series is quite okay. (FMP, FMP Fumoffu, FMP The Second Raid - just finished in Japan, but this installment has a few things you might not like)

EK 8 )

Hi Ekmisao,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've selected a title already, please see the previous post.

Cheers. :)

PS. But I will keep in mind FMP for the next one!

RahXephon, although there is some slight nudity in episode 10.
