The Deterioration of Toonami.

The once-glorious Toonami has fallen a long, long, long way from the glory days of 2001-2003. It's gone from all-afternoon, every day, with similar incarnations at midnight and Saturdays to a lone spot. Will it ever return? Does anyone have some news? This was by far the best place on television...once.

Wasn't that back when Turner still ran Cartoon Network?
Is it my imagination or has all the deteriation started since Ted Turner sold
his interest in CN?(I think the same thing can be said of all the other networks he used to control. We can say some negative things about Ted Turner but when it came to tv he certainly knew what people wanted.)

I'm with ya on both Outlaw Star and tenchi. Old school man, old school.
I also want to see more Yuyu Hakusho and case closed.
As least they still have one of their old school anime shows left.... DBZ!

And I bet they're gonna show Now and Then, Here and There. Perfectly appropriate for the 11-15 audience they target.
Maybe follow that one with some Shin Getter Robo with a side of Devilman.
And TV standards die.

I, too, lemented the fall of Toonami, not being a big fan of all things dragonball and liking Yu Yu even less.
I think they've made some good moves recently. I don't like all of the shows they are playing, but at least they've got some fresh blood in the mix.

It's all the cg animation. It will be the death of cartoons as we know it.

I wouldn't say that - rather CG would be the death of CG since so many companies and animation studios are doing their best to stuff if down our throats and insist that its the way of the future and the best thing since sliced bread. Its would wear itself out fast if they're not careful.

I was late for work so many times back in high school just because I had to catch the tail end of Robotech before heading off on my bike. Ah, the memories...

I would love it if they showed Now and Then, Here and There, but it's definitely not an afternoon show. More like midnight, which I don't even know if they do anymore. (I lack ze cable...) Is Toonami as we knew it even around anymore or is it just "Maguzi...whatever..."? What happened to the spaceship and all? (secondary, but I still miss it.) They also only show the new, trendy anime. I'm hoping this whole "anime being trendy" thing will fade soon, because I can no longer find any decent anime. And I digress. The end.

Meh, I miss the good old days. Outlaw star, DBZ, the works. Now all they have is that other stuff I dont really care too much about it. Now if only Naruto had good voice acting...

There's good CG anime out there:
Last Exile, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, DICE . Those are good shows.

well, not so much that kind. Though I'm not a big fan, I meant shows like Code Lyoko. It's not anime, I know. Still, the animation is too weird for my liking. *shrugs* to each their own, I guess.

I absolutely hate these pseudo-cg, glossy, shiny-looking shows that are coming out nowadays: Ghost in the Shell, Technolyze, Full Metal Alchemist, Arjuna, Samurai Champloo... They may be decent shows, but they have none of the charm that made such gems like Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo so addicting. I'll take Rurouni Kenshin over Samurai Champloo anyday.
Gundam Wing, Tenchi, Outlaw Star, Kenshin, Robotech, Ronin Warriors... Those were the best days of Toonami.

From what I understand IGPX is kinda like Zoids Fuzors except instead of
battling with mecha they race. However will have to wait for November
to see how accurate that is.
I would love to see a lot of those old shows returned to tv as well.

More or less, you mean 3D CG. I'm not a big fan of 3D CG, but the CG or what I call computer drawn anime, I like.
Japan has just about stop making any anime with cels now.
And that would be...?
IGPX- Immortal Grand Prix
The frist IGPX aired on CN a few years ago, it was 5 mins long and it ran mon-friday. In that one, it was mechs fighting each other.
In this one, they race.

(I never watched Toonami when it was good... Lesse, the only shows I watched on it were... Meh, I can't even remember. I think SD Gundam. Anyways, I just watch Teen Titans now.)
(They. Need. To. Bring. Back. Kenshin. So I can tape it for my dad, and then we can both watch it.)

I miss Toonami, too.
Heck, I miss TV.
But seriously, Toonami was awesome, and it's what got me into anime. But I wouldn't fret--this is HARDLY the first time Toonami has waxed and wane...doesn't anyone remember when it was Saturday mornings only--Rising Sun style? When Adult Swim was simply more anime at night, and not necessarily unclean stuff only? I'm not too worried--and I think as popular as anime is now, we will see more networks putting it on TV to get the next generation of otaku hooked, too. XD

I sincerely hope you're right. I used to watch a good 2 hours of anime on Saturday nights, and now I often donlt watch any. I don't understand why they've changed their target audience.

It does. Compared to most of the craptastic ones out there.

Ugh... I've yet to find a whole block anime on there, for some reason. And I don't find cable, so going places is my only chance to. Xo

Ahhh, Toonami. The essense of cool, underground stuff back in the day. I miss the classic Tom (u kno who, the squat chubby dude with with a radioactive symbol on his belly!) and I miss Tenchi too. To be more precise, I miss watching ANYTHING decent on Toonami. *sigh*
Adult Swim isn't anything magical anymore as well...
