Alright I have a serious problem...
*gasp* I am looking for a new anime to get into but I am just not finding anything that looks interesting...
*shock* Am I losing interest in Anime?
*horror* Oh this is serious! I need some suggestions for some super-awesome-cool anime series to get into before I fall away from anime forever...
*gasp, shock, & horror* I’m a big InuYasha & Trigun fan, I like Ruroni Kenshin (just getting into it) and I don’t like the DBZ (sorry DBZ fans) although I did like the original DB... so can you all help me before its too late?
God Bless

To be honest I haven't been interested in anime for several months. Sometimes, people move on to other things, tastes change. To me, it's all getting stale, same character types, same stories, same fanservice... it would be nice to see something that wasn't the same old same old.

I was upset with the ending to FMA.
It started out going well, had cool villains, but the secret behind alchemy was rather disturbing. So I did not like FMA... sorry.
Last exile looks awesome though!
Thanks for the suggestion! I did not know anything about this one, just went and checked out some reviews and it looks really cool! Totally steam punk, which I am a big fan of steam punk!
SomeDay's Dreamers looks interesting, I will have to check more into this one...

If you can use bittorrent then you should check out Tsubasa Chronicles or Xenosaga. They are up for download at animesuki.
Or you could always go forCardcaptor Sakura, the greatist anime of all time!!!!

If you like Kenshin try Samurai 7 the anime version of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.

And after that, maybe they can do a cartoon of
Gone With the Wind.
Sheesh, that seems like a desecration of a classic to make it into an anime

One word:
Gankutsuou.
Gankutsuou is, hands down, the single best anime to come out in quite a few years. I was lucky enough to get the fansubbed version a few months back, but it should be coming out on DVD on October 29, or maybe a bit earlier...
Either way, it is about The Count of Monte Cristo. I see you have Alucard in your avi, and if that's the case, you will SURELY love Gankutsuou. Gonzo and Mahiro Maeda (Did work on The Animatrix and Blue Sub No. 6 among other things, btw.) created it, and The Count himself is very, VERY similar to Alucard, even down to having the same seiyuu.
That being said.... WATCH THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE.
I have heard the English and it is absolutely horrible. However, I watched all of the fansubbed version and it has some of the most masterful acting you'll ever see. Trust me, shows like Gankutsuou don't come along very often at all.

Also, Gankutsuou has the same production team as Hellsing, Last Exile, Samurai7 and Blue Sub No. 6, and if that doesn't tell you how great it is then you'll have to see it for yourself.

I want to check out Last Exile. I haven't been watching much anime recently because I just haven't found a good new series to watch. *shrug*

Omigosh I second Gankutsuou!!! <3 I loved it so much that I read the Count of Monte Cristo while I was watching it. I ended up liking the book better (go figure) but the anime was a wonderful adaption. Its the Count of Monte Cristo set in a futuristic Paris. I loved every minute of it and the acting was wonderful. It takes a little while to get used to the graphics (for the whole first episode you're like O___O WOOOAAAHH this is weird and wrong!) but it gets better. After awhile you don't even notice the weird patterns and it just looks pretty. I haven't heard the English, but I did love the Japanese when I watched it on fansubs so I can at least recommend that track.
I also have to recommend Samurai7 and Last Exile. I've only seen up until like... episode 8 or something of Samurai7, but it was very good. I've seen all of Last Exile several times, both on fansubs and on G4TechTV. I watched it at a time where I hated all dubs, but I didn't mind Last Exile's dub. That's saying something XD Yeah, so I like LE's Japanese cast better, but the dub is good. So... yeah, check one of these out!
And if you like cutesy stuff, Gakuen Alice is really good too XD

MONSTER!!!!!!
It's more "adult oriented" with some nudity in some episodes
but what makes it "adult oritented" is the plot, and little younger kids wouldn't understand it
GREATEST SERIES EVER!!!!!!!!!!

If you haven't seen it you should definately check out "Now And Then, Here And There." Definately one of the best anime's out there. It isn't for everyone though. You might also want to try "Nadesico."

RahXephon is a must see.It has given me hope that AU still has life in it.
Another would be Escaflowne.

I'd definately second Escaflowne! You might want to check out Dual! also...Not that original or anything but there's just something about that show that makes you like it.

I most definitely second Nadesico. I'm watching it right now and it's a great series. Even if giant robots aren't your thing, it has something for everyone, powerful drama, witty humor, a cute girl with glasses, and some slick "old-school" references. It's a great series with plenty of likeable characters. And if "old-school" is your thing, There's always robotech, the Macross Saga, I mean, it is considered to be a classic.

For me the interest in anime comes and goes. During the summer I watch much more, during the school year I don't. I think another thing is finding stuff that keeps you interested. Watching the same type of stuff can get a bit tiresome, so I like to try different genres or something that has a different feel.
Great Teacher Onizuka, Kimagure Orange Road, Aishiteruze Baby are all pretty good titles.
Maybe or maybe not your a sports fan, but a few good sport animes are: Fighting Spirit, Slam Dunk, Hoop Days, Princess Nine and I'll CKBY.
You don't necessarily have to be a sports fan to enjoy some of them; especially fighting spirit. Some of my friends who hate sports really enjoy that title.
THose are only a few suggestions though. It never hurts to try something new.

If you like old-school sci-fi anime with a big animation budget and great storylines, look no further than Memories. One of my top 3 animes of all time.

Some good titles that have come out recently are Scrapped Princess and Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. The former is good because of the swordfights and interesting setting and mood of the story. I believe that there's a reveiw on this website. Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is absolutely hysterical! One would be hard pressed to find someone who didn't enjoy that one.
I hope this helps.

Try Nadia: Secret of Blue Water. Great series. Skip the movie though

RahXephon, gankutsuou and Monster have already been mentioned...
I'd recommend BlackJack, by none other than Osamu Tezuka. It's like E.R. meets the X-Files. Not for the squeamish, some nudity, but overall a great anime.

I'm not gunna list good animes that are out there, like others... instead I'll give ya a bit of advice:
I'm not losing interest in anime, but not as interested as I used to be. If I find a REALLY good series it';s different though! But... a lot of the new stuff doesn't look too appealing...
My advice? Ok, some new stuff doesn't look as good, but it's surprising how much good stuff you'll bypass! I noticed this "AIR" anime on Animenfo a while back thinkign "ok, whatever" heard some good things and looked into it, and it's such a great series! Think you just have to find the right series or in my other case, look back for some slightly older stuff that's good. Took me a couple years (AFTER popularity) to watch things like Wolf's Rain and Witch Hunter Robin etc.... actually ALOT of great anime came out in 2002... it was a REALLY good year!
So yeah... but even then, anime IS a phase, but no one knows when it'll go away for them^^ But hey if anime isn't your thing anymore, you can always try manga

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions. I am going to have to start looking into some of these titles. And some of them I have not even heard of... XD
Perhaps I can get back into the whole anime grove. I’m just picky about what I watch. It has to have a good plot for me to really enjoy it. A good anime, book, manga, (story) needs to have a good protagonist, striving for a noble goal, facing menacing obstacles, and ends with a satisfying resolution. And also style of story is really important to me. I’m a big steam punk fan (e.g. sci-fi meets fantasy) and I really love a good mystery adventure. So if you could mix Jules Verne, Indiana Jones, and Sherlock Holmes together and turn it into an anime it would be the most awesome anime ever! That is why I like the American Manga Neotopia so much!
Thanks again every one
