CAA: Christian Anime Alliance

I was wondering if anyone else has ever felt a change of view on any
subject after watching an anime for a length of time.
For example I never used to think that Pacifism was a viable option until
I started to watch shows like Gundam Seed,Trigun and Shinzo.
But watching characters like Lacus,Rem,Vash and Yamuko made me
realize that you can be a Pacifist without being a wimp.
So anyone else?

When Luffy was a kid, he got mad at Shanks for not fighting back, but he eventually learned how and when you should fight and when you should just ignore someone. In Jaya, he applied that when Bellamy laughed as dreams, though he returned to beat him after Bellamy beat up one his new friends.

There were many times I've felt like socking it to someone for different reasons, and trying to apply "turn the other cheek" was becoming difficult for me. Yet, somehow, seeing it applied (even if it was fake), showed many how it was alright to fight for others in need, but no need if there's nothing they can do to you.

actually after genshiken i really understood what an otaku was... i dont think anyone on CAA can really call themselves an otaku after seeing genshinken and seeing what real otakus are like.

I can think of multiple examples of books or stories that have changed my thinking in very specific ways, but no anime titles come to mind. It's possible that some have influenced me, but if so, it has probably been a subtle process rather than an overt one.

Grave of the Fireflies made me rethink the dropping of the two atomic bombs on Japan. Seeing the devastation of a regular fire bombing, and thinking what would have happened if that had continued... I would never say it to the face of a Japanese person, but the atomic bombs may have been more merciful.

Lot's of anime's have either reinforced my views on things but I don't recall changing my views because of them.

I cannot say I have ever had a work of fiction significantly influence my views on a subject. In general they don't treat the subject in greater detail than I have already considered it. However, on occasion I have been reminded of something. For example, watching the movie Hotel Rwanda caused me to remember just how much genocide is really going on in the world.

It's spelled Rwanda actually.And yeah,I guess we do need to be reminded of
how bad it is some places,although we shouldn't forget that that's not like it's
like in most places.

Unless I misunderstand you, that wasn't quite what I meant. I didn't mean a reminder in the sense of, "Oh, some people have it bad." What I meant was a reminder that we as Christians have an obligation to be active in the world to prevent such conflicts from taking place, if possible, or showing as much of God's love as we are able after they occur. Darfur is a more current example.

There have been titles that have made me think about things but not really changed how I view things. There have been other books which influlenced my thinking before I even knew I was watching anime. heh. Such as All Quiet on the Western front. And my mom always said that evil things don't nessicarily have to look evil and I think thats reinforced in anime. Also I see a lot of "good intentions pave the road to hell" type stuff. heh.
