Hey I was wondering if any of you have seen this and could inform me on the content. I like the dark look it has to it and from what I've heard the story seems pretty intriguing. Is there much negative content in it? I'm mostly trying to avoid fanservice. Thanks ya'll!

The story is very dark, mysterious, and intriquing; very goth, as the case describes. It's a good show with beautiful animation. I've only seen the first disc; while there's nothing actually sexual, some of the characters and their personalities give off a very provocative vibe, which ultimately adds to the shows atmosphere. I'd say rent it if you can, because it looks like it could be a very intelligent, freakish show. I decided to not continue with the series due to money issues, and for me personally, while I really enjoyed it, something just didn't sit right with me. Don't know the reason why; guess it's just a God thing :-) But yeah it's worth at least renting if you can!

Is the series related to the book?

Yeah I'll try checking it out if possible...The main thing that I was worried about was the fanservice content. I love the gothic look to the show though.

Uses names and terminology from the book, just to give it props or add to some of the story/character depth.

"Recommended Audience: There are a few scenes of a sexual nature. Though they are not as explicit as in some shows, the length, nature, and plot importance of the scenes does really make them stand out. Though most of the initial violence in this show involves telekinetic waves, as the show progresses, things get a bit bloodier with impalements, blood, and many people being killed. Overall, I feel it is appropriate for older teens and above."

I've watched the first two disks (9 episodes). There is some sexual tension, although nothing explicit (well, shown anyway) between an older woman and her younger charges. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone under 16 or so, mostly because of the disturbing, complex themes. I haven't see anything I would call fan service.

The anime backgroungs are excellent, but sometimes I think the character rendering could be better. From some angles the characters don't look right.

Episode 5 has an extended vocal performace of "Shall we gather at the river." As I was using the english dub, I went back and listed to this section in Japanese. Actually, the girl sings the whole chorus in english in both versions! Then, she goes on to discuss the fact that this is a hymn and also what the hymn is about. That's gotta be a first.
