Alas, many, many fans exist in this world (and on this website) who have seen all of the episodes of the Full Metal Alchemist movie, but there yet remains some who have not had the privilage to view it in its full glory!
Behold, adult swim has finally released new episodes of this lovely anime. Though it be the dubbed version which many don't like all that well, it is the only way for some to see it. Saturday they showed the first new episode, episode 27 "Teacher". What a beautiful occasion it was.
Thus, I invite all those who have NOT seen the whole series to gather in this thread and discuss Saturday's episode and the previous ones already shown. Even new fans who haven't seen thus far in the show or are just discovering FMA's wonders are welcome to join.
Full Metal Alchemist fans unit.

I thought the beatdown they ended up getting was great... so hilarious. And sensei was beautiful.

lol! The beat down was hilarious! She totally kicked their butts!
Sensei was firm (if thats not an understatement) but caring to her students. The hug was sweet.
That episode was sad too. Aw, I wanted to cry at points!

Yes, that scene made me tear a bit. Whaat, it was emotional kay! Hey, I just remembered that tha ending theme song is "Mother Land" from Crystal Kay. I have tha video recorded from Revolution. I like Crystal Kay. She's cool. At first I thought she was mixed black and Japanese, but black and Korean. I guess she was raised in Japan therefore she speaks japanese and english fluently.

Man...Edward and Alphonse's sensei KICKS! XD Seriously, I thought she was just awesome...! But I loved that scene at the end...After giving them a severe beating, she hugs them...Man! It was really powerful. One of those tear-jerkers (I almost cried at the end of the ep and also when that little girl's cat died...How sad!). I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes, though! X3

I liked the way that sensei went from beating the boys up to hugging them in the
end.

I cried (just a little) when the cat died. That little girl was just.. aww, give her a hug!
I also loved the ending! Izumi rocks!! I have a new favorite character! She did severly beat them. I was thinking "ow, man, that's a little mean. No, actually, their getting the beating they deserve for breaking the laws of alchemy and trying to be a god". Man, like a mother, she disciplines and then comforts.
I can't wait until Saturday so I can watch the next episode... ooo, the plot keeps getting better.

Hm I've never watched the Full Metal Alchemist dub before. Then again, I hardly ever watch dubs. But I did hear that the FMA dub isn't as bad as dubs usually are.

^_^ I was so happy I finally got to see that episode! I've been wanting to see Izumi for SOOO long! She's great!
but did anybody notice that she never uses Alchemy... and when she did use it in that flash back... she got really sick... I wonder why?

I don't know if I like Izumi. Her constant smacking around of Ed and Al(while they just stand there and take it) make her seem kind of like a bully. Then there was her comment about state alchemists....well, I would't mind seeing her get her butt handed to her in a fight.
She did severly beat them. I was thinking "ow, man, that's a little mean. No, actually, their getting the beating they deserve for breaking the laws of alchemy and trying to be a god". Man, like a mother, she disciplines and then comforts.
One lost a body and the other lost two limbs. I think they got punishment enough. Her beating them came across more like she was letting out her anger on them.

Yep, I did. I didn't see it till Sunday though. I went to bed and recorded it. ^^]I thought it was sad when Ed and Al's teacher hugged them. I mean it was sweet, but still sad. Does that make sense? ^^; Before that when she was beating the snot out of them though, I thought that was pretty funny, but I was thinking that she was probably committing all types of child abuse...
I also thought it was sad when the cat died, but at least the kittens were OK. [/SPOILER]

I never felt the beating had much purpose. None the less, I am glad to see the Elrics' sensei appear finally. Izumi and her husband are my favorite characters in the series (though their entrances were better in the manga).

Well, the beating did go on a bit too long, maybe. But even though one lost his body and the other and arm and leg, they still never got scolded for it. Panako and Winry didn't scold them for breaking the laws of alchemy, and they did break a serious law. They should be punished.
The comment about the state alchemist. Well, yeah, she is a little oppinionated about them, isn't she? And she does sort of have a point, sort of. Most state alchemists are slaves to the state who would do just about anything, but the state alchemists we know wouldn't, I don't think. Especially Ed. So we know that that statement isn't entirely true.
I think the reason Al and Ed take Izumi's beating is because they respect her as their sensei. She kind of mothered them I guess when she started their training (kind of a tough love thing though with the whole teaching them how to fight and kicking their butts constantly). But notice when Edward stood up at the end of the beating he was ready for more. To me he kind of seemed to know he deserved what he was getting and was prepared to take it like a man.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, when Izumi kicks their butts, they take it because they know that for some reason they deserve it. I know, at the beginning of the episode she slung 'em around a little bit, and they hadn't really done anything but tick her off, but notice she only kicked Ed to keep him from running and only threw Al to the ground once. And the only reason she tied them up on the train was, as you all saw, when they cut free they tried to escape. She knew they would and prevented it.
I wouldn't say she abuses them (she did hug them after beating them up, remember? Would someone who's just taking anger out on you do that?), too much. She acts like a mother to them though (i.e. she told Edward to eat and he said 'yes ma'am' when he said 'no thanks' to Winry.)

According to the preview in the August Anime Insider Winry is supposed to have a bigger role in Season 2 and also we get to see Rose from the
first couple episodes again.

Yeah, only to episode 27. bites, doesn't it?
I didn't see this past saturdays episode, because I was spending the night at a friends house and my brother was supposed to tape it for me. I had the vcr timer set and everything, all he had to do was put it on the right channel and put the tape in, but no, he put it on CN FRIDAY instead of SATURDAY and didn't even bother with it saturday. *slaps forehead* oh well. They still re-run it thrusdays, right?
Yeah, Winry does have a larger role (from what I've seen of screen caps and what little I read about the coming episodes while waiting for them to finally show them)..

I zonked out halfway through the second part of the episode.I'm not sure but I believe the person or whatever it was on the island with them was probably
Wrath since the AI article said he had some sort of connection to both Ed and
Izumi.
