Underwhelmed by 'Fantastic Children.'

I watched the 1st ep of 'Fantastic Childrten,' and I really didn't like the character design - too much like Osamu Tetzuka. Do the white-haired, blue-eyed kids do any COOL, UPLIFTING, or POSITIVE things eventually, or is it another glum, dark story?

I bailed out on Gantz, Gilgamesh, and Haibane Renmei over this. If they're going to draw less-than-inspiring beauty/handsomeness, then some OTHER FACTOR has got to really raise my curiosity or cheer me up or otherwise keep me interested. (Gantz, like Beck, I bailed out on due to nasty gutter Japanese. Turned me right off.)

So - does 'Fantastic Children' just continue to mope about.
(Imagine one of those interminable, blank Lain stares...)

Yeah, so far I am enjoying the series.
I like jidaigekki / period looking stuff.
My wife is a costume hobbyist and wants to make a
Haruka costume for me!
