According to the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will not be released in North America in September as previously reported.
Instead, EGM reports that Advent Children will be released "this holiday season." No further details about the date are mentioned.
Details about the release are however included in the article. There will be two releases, a single disc UMD release and a 2-disc Special Edition DVD. The 2-disc set will include extra trailers, bonus features and behind-the-scenes material, but not Last Order Final Fantasy VII. The short Last Order OAV will be included in the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Ultimate Edition, which will retail for 29,500 yen (~US$270) and is to be released on September 14.

I think Square Enix needs to put as their company motto, "We hype, we delay, and then we conquer."

I think Square-Enix may be getting a little too greedy.

So, what, does Square Enix think that American people hate bonus stuff?
"Oh, the OAV? Ah, no one in America wants to see that."
Idiots. I hate Square Enix.

square Enix is very picky about what they send over to the US, anime and manga wise. =o=/ Another reason we may never see the the OAV or the STar Ocean manga...

How many Americans would honestly buy a nearly $300 boxset? Not many and not enough to cover the costs to localize, produce, and ship it all here. It's called smart marketing decisions and that's why it'll never come out here.

Hi. This is Nate speaking on behalf of all anime fans. We buy anime DVDs at three episodes per DVD for thirty bucks apiece. The average anime box set costs 150-200 bucks, and are snatched up at amazing rates. We apparently have nothing better to do with our money and would obviously shell out 300 bucks for a box set. Thank you.

You have to pay 30 bucks for a 3 episode dvd (passes out) what the heck is it taxes or are the people you buy from evil I have never seen a dvd go over 24 bucks and I have never bought one for more than 20.

I don't know many three episode anime DVD's for $30 if there are any at all. Even in stores they're usually $18-25 new. And actually most boxsets run from $80-150. I don't know where you buy your anime but you're getting ripped off.
Amazing rates...? Anime is getting popular every year but it's still no where near selling the numbers regular movies do. Not to mention the glut of mediocre anime which makes it hard for titles to stand out in an already competitive market. Sure there will always be those people that will pay whatever for anything. But those people are small in the grand scheme of things and will probably import the thing regardless. But do you honestly think that Square would be making any kind of profit off of that boxset here, or at least recoup the costs to localize it for the U.S, produce it, and ship it? Especially since this isn't like a full series of anime, but only comes with a few goodies and whatnot.
