I watched one epi of this the other day and somebody said that he was a "Half demon" his reply was "Maybe I should kill you and get the 9th sega and become a full demon" or something like that. was the other dude just insulting (sp?) inyuasha or is he really half demon?

Well, technically, neither; demon is just a bad translation of the word youkai(which means basically, monster or phantom, it's really just untranslatable), but yes, he is a half-youkai(or demon, call it whatever you like *huffs*), or hanyou. And he probably was insulting him. Everyone's mean to that poor little freak boy.

I think I saw that ep...I got kinda confused, though. If InuYasha's mother was human, and his father was youkai, how could InuYasha ever become a full youkai? O.o Well, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I still love that show~!

It has to do with the powers of the Shikon Jewel.
Actually the idea of "demons" on Inuyasha is pretty much similiar to
the same idea on Buffy,The Vampire Slayer both are based in Oriental
Mythology and so are different from the more familiar Judeo-Christian
view.

The power of the Shikon jewel has incredible power. In the hands of mortals (humans) it grants them superhuman powers. In the hands of youkai (demons), it amplifies their power 100 fold. In Inuyasha'a case, the jewel would actually turn him into a full demon.

Awww come on, that's kind of harsh. He's not a freak. XD

But the others are correct, so no reason to comment.

Oh, ok! Yeah, I forgot how powerful the jewel was. Anyways, thanks much for answering all of my questions! ^_^

Well, all of us InuYasha fans know the whole story of the series at least, so all you have to do is ask as you shall recieve!

Yes.Except don't ask us how it ends since we're still waaaayyyy behind the Japanese in episodes and won't get to the final two part finale(eps.166-167)for
a longish time to come.

Ok. Thanks for all the info, I think I'll stay away from this anime though cause the Bible says that teaming up with demons even if you fight for good is wrong, And i don't want to be filling my mind with that kind of stuff.

Oh, but didn't anyone tell you? The word "demon" in InuYasha isn't talking about the demons you might think of...It's just a really bad translation of the word "youkai," which, if I understand correctly, is a type of creature from Japanese folklore. I was a little unsettled about the show at first too, but once I heard that, it made it more like a "Beauty and the Beast" kind of story. In fact, I believe the manga covers all say "A Feudal Fairy Tale," insinuating the fact that it's not meant to be taken seriously in any way, shape, or form, and that it is also complete fantasy. It's a really fun show once you know what it's really meant to be, but if you still aren't comfortable with it, then ok. ^_^

It's just precaution, you know just in case it is. I would rather miss a good show then get into something bad

Yes even though it doesn't actually end and pretty much crashes and burns at the end with tons of filler episodes. grrr *whacks* Couldn't they have just stopped it for awhile to wait for new manga chapters.... at least they didn't change it to make their own ending. imho the manga is sooo much better *nods*

I really don't like the dub b/c of all the strange translating. It all sounds very weird, especially to not hear demon and half-demon instead of youkai and hanyou and Jewel of Four Souls instead of Shikon no Tama and Wind Scar instead of Kaze no Kizu... I could go on and on. I better stop

Well for those of us who don't know Japanese what would be the correct translations of those terms into English?

btw:What did everyone think of AS actually airing the opening theme and
the logo before and after the commercial break?I thought it was cool.Too bad they
never did it before.I'd love to see them go back and tack on the opening to the
earlier eps as well.Chances of that happening are equal to me running into a
Kagome or Flay look alike.

Actually I've seen the whole series.

Anyway the dub is crappy compared to the sub. And hearing Moneca Stori's voice for Kagome is literally unbearable *Drops bomb on Viz*

Yus, that was AWESOME!! I love "Grip!," so I was excited to hear that they were actually doing an OP for once...Of course, it was only a matter of time, since they had the OP for Paranoia Agent, s-CRY-ed, and Samurai Champloo. I was happy about that! Hopefully, they'll continue to show the OP's for all of thier shows. :thumb:

*head spins* thanks for clearing it up ... so if we go according euro/american mythology we are talking about creatures more along the lines of creatures from the ancient Greece tales. I can live with that.

Inu means dog and yasha means demon. But the tyhing is that Inuyasha is only half demon so he is not bad plus it is not even that type of demon. Dont go all crazy about it. I luv the show and I understand it. The thing is they think of them as demons cuz they look like them and they have special powers. The "demons" take it as a compliment of authority or sumthin and use that name themselves. Really though thay are just people that are part animal or whatevur that have magical powers. But ya really dont have to listen to me though. That is just my point of view...

Yeah, I've seen practically most of the latter half of the series in Sub, I own most of it in Sub,lol. I like the Sub version better, but I really don't like some of the translations, since it's bad translating every once in a while.

I love Moneca Stori's voice and also Kelly Sheridan's.It took me awhile before I
realized that Sango was also my beloved Yuki from Silent Mobius.
