Well, I finally got digital cable...

...and it opens up a whole bunch of new anime titles for me without having to spend big $$ (albeit with the edits). In addition to CN/AS (which I've had for some time), I now get G4 and AZN Television, as well as AS On Demand and the Anime Network On Demand (though no Anime Network 24/7, at least not yet).
So, are there any series on the new networks that I should definitely plan to watch? (Or any that I should make sure I avoid?)

Definately avoid Fox's edit of Escaflowne if you see it floating around anywhere. It's absolutely horrific; they spliced the first 3 episodes into one horribly butchered one. Go splurge on the series; it's worth it. Or borrow from a friend ^^
I've heard....not nice things about Samurai Champloo (comes on AS) but I haven't seen it for sure so I can't tell you about it

Anime on demand!! I have it 24/7, and it got me into Arc the Lad (now my favorite series ever!), Noir, I recommend Princess Tutu, and they have Azumanga Daioh...oh so many. ^^

The good and bad news is for the Fox edit of Escaflowne. They still have the rights to Escaflowne, but they will not show it. That is good news as you will never see the bad Fox ver of that show. The bad news is, CN wanted it, but Fox will not turn the rights over.

About Escaflowne, I think I had seen some stuff about CN trying to get the rights to it, but it doesn't look like that's going to pan out. At least they were able to get the rights to Detective Conan.

I have seen some of Samurai Champloo on AS. It's one of those shows I think I could have gotten into but knew I didn't need to.
Among the new AS shows, though, I am digging Paranoia Agent.

We're getting it as part of a bundle package, roughly $109 a month (including tax and fees) for digital basic cable, high-speed Internet, and digital phone. For the phone company's phone and high-speed Internet service and for non-digital basic cable, we were paying about $155 a month. So for us it's about like we're getting cable free now. (Like I said, I've had non-digital basic cable for a while.)
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations so far. What I'm really hoping is that G4 replays R.O.D. TV again soon.

Cromartie High, I watched several episodes, and it has really bad swearing just so you know. But...the pencil eating thing was funny. XD

Now I'm rather confused.Wasn't CN supposed to show the Escaflowne movie some time this Summer?

Yes, they will show it. Fox got the rights to show Vision of Escaflowne (TV) they some how bought the rights to it for so many years. But they didn't buy the rights to show the movie. After Fox mess up the show, Bandai learn to never trust fox with anime. Since then, Bandai will not let Fox touch any of their anime.

Most of the networks period are run by clowns who mess up the good stuff anyway.

Yeah, that is ture. But what Fox did was just bad. I mean, they cut eps and glue them into one ep. But the wrost thing that Fox did was, cutting some of Yoko Kanno's music and they added techo music in it. Now, I like techo music, but you never mess with Yoko Kanno's music, ever!

On Escaflowne, word has it that at this point AS plans to run it in October.

Thanks. The ep I saw wasn't too bad, though it's hard to get a feel for a show like that in just one episode. BTW, I did check out an ep each of Azumanga Daioh and Noir. AMD was a cute show but I wasn't overly crazy about it, probably because of the demo I'm in (I'm a guy in my 20s). But I couldn't really say anything negative about it.
I liked Noir, though I felt kind of lost at times. Hopefully I'll get to check out a few more eps and be up to speed about what's going on.
I'm curious about something... Does the Anime Network 24/7 show a lot of edited programs? I thought they mostly showed their programs without cuts, except in more extreme cases such as Gantz. All the shows I've got with TAN On Demand are TV-PG, but looking at their 24/7 schedule I find it hard to believe that much of they show would really be TV-PG without some major editing.

Not even G4? Man, who's your cable carrier?
Speaking of G4, I saw they are supposed to start rerunning Gungrave this Friday night.

G4 is an extra channel, at least for Comcast, you have to have pay a little extra to get the package with it. I don't have Digital Cable yet but we've been talking forever about getting it so here's hoping.

No, I do have G4, but I consider it to be more of a video game channel. Man, I used to watch that channel ALL THE TIME, but then Tech Tv came in and ruined it all...The shows started getting more and more sexual, Filter started reviewing technology stuff instead of or alongside videogames, they
took Scot Ruben off of G4TV.com, the took Ronilen Riley off of Pulse, and it just got really annoying. So I don't usually watch it much anymore. The only anime I've seen on it was Anime Unleashed, and I could never really get into that (since I've only seen two eps...Does it have a consistent storyline? O.o) Anyways, yeah...I need more anime channels!

Well Anime Unleashed is a bunch of shows. The only ones I know on it are ROD TV and Last Exile, which are both good. I've only seen like 2 or 3 episodes of each but I enjoyed it anyway.

I didn't mean to not answer, I just haven't been here for a few days.
Anyway, yeah, for the most part I would consider G4 more of a video game channel. The reason I listed it was that G4's "Anime Unleashed" is considered by many as a major player for anime on TV. For many viewers, "Anime Unleashed" is about the only source for anime on TV outside of CN/AS and (if you count it) Fox Box. While several of the major cable systems have given a relatively warm welcome to the Anime Network On Demand, very few have added the Anime Network 24/7, even on the digital tier. And there is no presence of TAN at this point on Dish Network or DirecTV. So for many, outside of CN/AS, "Anime Unleashed" is pretty much it.
(There's also AZN Television, the channel formerly known as the International Channel. But the only anime I've seen on there until tonight was Record of Lodoss War, which didn't look terribly compelling. Also, occasionally Encore Action or a Showtime network will show an anime feature, but primarily I'm talking in terms of basic cable.)
However, "Anime Unleashed" has really seemed to step up in their desire to competite as of late. They're still no CN/AS or Anime Network, but R.O.D. and Gungrave are certainly more popular series than the stuff they used to show like Duel and Betterman. (Nothing against those who like those shows. I actually thought what I saw of Duel was decent, but in terms of popularity it never caught on.)

Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic FOMUFFU are both run on Anime Network on Demand, as is Azumanga daioh, all excellent choices.

Encore WAM and Encore Action regularly run such titles as Vandread, Street Fighter II, Ghost in the Shell, etc. Dunno if somebody's already said that... I have to get off soon, so I don't have time to read.
CN, obviously, and yeah, the G4 Anime Unleashed.
You can get Vampire Hunter D and various animes like Technolyze, Kai Doh Maru, and the like on the Starz ON DEMAND, in the Movie Collections --> Anime. Just hunt around and see what you get.
But what's this AZN stuff? Never heard of it.

I did start getting into both FMP and FUMOFFU within the last few weeks. I'm hooked on both!
